Hey beautiful people. So Fast Five Friday is a weekly meme I will be hosting every Friday. Where just a handful of recommendations based on a certain subgenre or theme will be shared. These are just quick and my top recs for whatever topic we are doing. And this is a great way to share some quick recommendations to kick off the weekend. Feel free to comment and let me know your recommendations and what you think of the books I am recommending.
So today our topic will be New Adult Romance and this is actually one of my favorite subgenres, we just don’t see this subgenre as often as we used to. I am picky about NA though, I do prefer emotional depth and maturity so they won’t always work for me but when they are written very well than I am completely swept away. Even though I am in my thirties, I work with many in that age group. And quite frankly I don’t look my age at all, so its not that hard to be close to this age group or relate to them in some respects. But if its older NA than I definitely will those on a stronger level. The only aspect to NA I am not a huge fan of is the HFN endings over HEA. I do wish more of them had a more HEA feel to the endings unless its a series surrounding one couple.
A Perfect Ten by Linda Kage-So really this whole series is superb in every way. But this book is the epitome of what makes NA such a fun genre to read in. And Linda Kage is highly underrated, her books are NA perfection.
Down London Road by Samantha Young- Samantha Young has such a powerful romantic voice and when you mix that in with NA you just know that you will get some stellar books to come out. I love that this is also a Non American setting and this author handles it super well.
The Deal by Elle Kennedy- This is my favorite book of this world, I absolutely love it, but really most of the books are super great too. There is a reason I am adding these books to my physical library. These books are sexy and fun and have so much heart to them with a splash of cozy feels along the way.
A Crack in Everything by L.H. Cosway-This is a duo series featuring the same couple and the first book especially was fantastic. I loved their connection and seeing it set in Ireland was so interesting. I also loved the aspects of seeing their childhoods and what influenced them so strongly as adults
The Bully by Sophie Lark-This is one of the best books by this author. But it is a series you do want to read in order. I really loved this story, the bully aspect isn’t too strong and it has just the right touch and works so well into this one here.
I loved Kennedy’s and Young’s books. I haven’t read that Cosway one. I’ve only read one of hers and then her series with Penny Reid. I loved those. I’m a big NA fan. I’ve read a few good ones this year: The Total Knockout by Cookie O’Gorman, Tuesday Night Truths by C.W. Farnsworth, Southpaw by Ginger Scott, Pine River by Tijan, Tempting the Player by Rebecca Jenshak… I know there are more. I just can’t think of them.
Yes Kennedy and Young are superb. I think you would really LOVE Linda Kage though. Her books have great banter but also lots of emotion and heart. I will have to check out that Tijan and Jenshak, as those I do have on my TBR. I have added Southpaw to my list!
I’ll have to give her a try.
I still haven’t tried Sophie Lark. I wonder if she’s my cup of tea. Thanks for sharing these recs 💜💜
I loved the Off Campus books. I actually reading the Graham Effect right now. It’s great to be back in this world (adjacent)
I remember when I first heard about the New Adult genre. The Off Campus series was everywhere!
