Weekly Recap (Week 7) Be My Valentine

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of February 5th Through February 11th

HAPPY VALENTINES WEEK! I hope you all have a great holiday if you have a special someone to celebrate it with. I normally just do a fun charcuterie board and maybe a choc caramel dipped apple from my favorite chocolate store. This was a really fun reading week and got a good balance of sub genres. It was a pretty standard week of reading. I am excited to go see the Titanic this week in theatres. I did do a bit of mood reading this week, about half my books and the other half was my TBR! So Not too shabby as I read a solid 10 books.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Read—Keep on Loving You by Erika Kelly–Rating 2 Stars—I had high expectations and I ended up being disappointed in this. It was just all over the place and not what I was expecting from this author. I really pushed my way through this when I really wanted to DNF. Not sure if I will keep going with the series or not.

Book Read-Forsaken by Lisa Renee Jones—Rating 4 Stars—this was such a fun read! Not quite as great as the first two books, but I really enjoyed getting the brother’s book and getting more backstory to what happened.

Book Read-Unbroken by Lisa Renee Jones—Rating 5 Stars—This book was AMAZING! Delivered on all fronts and checked off all the boxes and really wrapped up the series so nicely! I just adored seeing this couple really settle into normal life and find their right adjustment for what they had to go through in previous books.

Book Read-The Protector by Donna Grant-Rating 5 Stars—This one really worked so well for me. I absolutely adored it. Probably one of my favorite Donna Grant books that I have ever read. It was full of family connection, great chemistry, kick ass action and fantastic plot building. Just the perfect romantic suspense. But I recommend reading these books in order due to the world building. I recommend this series being physically read over audio.

Book Read-The Truth about Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden—Rating 4 Stars—This was such a wonderful marriage of convenience! I absolutely adored this one, if you are looking for historical romance that isn’t like all the others. The heroines are feminine and uplifting to the heroes and the heroes have such modest strengths! Don’t let the cover discourage you, these are keepers.

Book Read-ShadowWolfe by Kathryn Le Veque—Rating 4 Stars—This was another win for Le Veque. I absolutely found this book so well researched and well done. If you are a fan of medieval romance, then you need to have this author in your life. I just found this one to be such a gem and was so poignant in the end!

Book Read-Priceless by Linda Kage—Rating 5 Stars—What a great book to kick off my weekend with! I absolutely loved this book so much. I love the way that this author writes, she writes the BEST New Adult romance. The heroine is handicapped and the hero suffered sexual incest assault as a kid, so love the way these two just bond as teenageers, become best friends and find their way together in a romantic relationship as adults. Its so endearing and precious and just like the title conveys….A PRICELESS READ!

Book Read-Final Offer by Lauren Asher—Rating 4 Stars—Not my favorite of the trilogy and boy was this LONG, I don’t remember the other books being so long. Its 600 pages, so no wonder it took me like 4 1/2 hours to read haha But I did enjoy it quite a bit. It wasn’t quite as funny though as the previous two books. But it wrapped up super nicely with the brothers and their women. I just wasn’t a big fan of the third act conflict. But man Cal and the little girl have my heart forever!

Book Read-Sugar Daddies by Jade West—Rating 4 Stars—This was a erotic romance that was super well done. I love a good menage, and this one was endearing and HOT! I also found Jade West’s writing to be super engaging and I really loved that. Definitely will be trying more of this author. If you have read her, let me know your favorites!

Book Read-Twisted by Emily McIntire—Rating 4.5 Stars —This is a Aladdin twisted fairytale. This has forced marriage, enemies to lovers and the angst was so delicious on this one here. There is something so unique about this series that I just love. And I like that this author does retellings that aren’t common to use.

Current Reads

My current Audiobooks is the latest Molly Harper, and I can’t wait to indulge in a mystic bayou, I am kinda sad that I am caught up with the series though. Then I will be grabbing up the latest Catherine Cowles, and I am super excited for this. I am nervous to try the Elsie Silver, but I have heard good things so I am keeping a open mind. Then I will be grabbing up the Bennett, I have been hearing many good things about this author in bookstagram so looking forward to this, and the title just gives me shivers. And finally I will be picking up a Bella Di Corte, this series I believe is around one couple, so we shall see if I can stick with just the one book or binge the whole series so this week might be a toss up lol

Book Releases I am Excited For

The Rising by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Black Hellebore by Grace Draven

Worlds Collide by Traci Hunter Abramson

A Romp with a Rogue by Tammy Andresen

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, but I will endeavor to try with these. I have some great books lined up this week! LOOK at all the beautiful covers! I am stoked. I have some historical’s, a closed door contemporary set in my state (hardly any books are written in my state other than religious fiction, then some paranormal and a UF.

Favorite Book of the Week

This story was so precious! It completely blew my mind! I just was so endeared by this one. And I love getting their story.

New Additions to A&R

Man of Honor by Bella Di Corte

The Scotsman Who Swept Me Away by Hannah Howell

Other than that one outlier, you had a great reading week. I was looking at the audio for that Dreamland Billionaire series. All the books have pretty high page counts for contemporary romances, but I don’t mind when I’m listening. Hope you enjoy your Valentine’s treats. It’s just another day to me.

10 books in one week is fantastic especially since you liked all of them (minus that one book). I don’t think that my husband and I ever celebrated Valentine’s Day which is strange because we met a day or 2 before the holiday. I hope that you have a fantastic week!

Enjoy your movie at the theater and special Valentine’s treat. I will be enjoying a Dove dark chocolate bar for my treat. Way to go reading ten books. Sorry the Erika Kelly was a drag but looks like the rest were pretty good. That Linda Kage with the boy hurt as a child is heartbreaking already. I read a different one from that Donna Grant Sons of TX series and loved it.

    Happy Valentine’s, Renee!
