Weekly Recap (Week 5) Its Still January….hehe

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of January 21st through January 27th

This was a pretty chill week. Nothing crazy really happened, but we are still chugging along in January. Is it just me or is January the longest month of the year??? haha I really had a solid reading week though and read some whoppers! But unfortunately also had some not so great books.

(All links to the reviews will guide you to my Goodreads Reviews)

Book Read-Avenged by Jay Crownover—Rating 3 Stars— Not my favorite Crownover. I liked it but the pacing was really off in this one and it could have been better.

Book Read-Mr. Sin by SJ Tilly—-Rating 3 Stars–I wanted to love this one but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. It was pretty preachy feminism wise, like in your face being soap boxy and yeah I don’t care for that. And I just couldn’t connect with the characters and their romance was pretty “meh”.

Book Read-Dream of Dragons by Aja James—Rating 4.5 Stars—This book was fantastic! I loved how the dragon element was implemented. It also had a mix of culture myths from King Arthur to chinese dragon gods …..and pack into it some time traveling and a heroine that believes love is a disease LOL A wild adventure I soaked up like a sponge.

Book Read-Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh—Rating 5 Stars—THIS BOOK Y’ALL!!! And I see now why its hyped, and its well deserved actually. I couldn’t get enough of this couple. It was endearing and sweet and YAY for a mostly outer conflict. With it being YA I was expecting a crazy love angsty triangle or something but nope their relationship was so sweet and endearing.

Book Read-Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh—Rating 6 Stars—This one was even better than Binding 13. Loved how emotionally this book packs a punch. Their story was so poignant and kept me addicted from beginning to end.

Book DNF—A Lair So Sinful by Zoey Ellis—I read this book originally because I thought it was a high fantasy romance. This isn’t a romance, its erotica. It was also my first omegaverse book so to say I was disappointed is a understatement.

Book Read—Staying in Vegas by Sam Mariano—Rating 3 Stars—I wanted to love this one but it was just weird lol It started out with accidental pregnancy but then developed into a love triangle? Again? LOL Sorry I am just not a fan of love triangles unless they are convincing. And I just don’t get it in this one but maybe it will get better, who knows.

Book Read-Making Faces by Amy Harmon—Rating 6 Stars—-A Romanceopoly pick for the WIN! What a BOOK! I adored it so. It had so much heart and deep layers to the story and how this book had me sobbing in tears!!! WHY??? This book broke me emotionally but what a journey and so so satisfying.

Book Read-Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon—-Rating 4.25 Stars—Action packed, hilarious and a wild ride! YES PLEASE! Loved this one. Not a real fan of this heroine, she was a bit too prickly for my taste but the hero was so alpha and what intrigue.

Current Reads

I am doing a buddy read of Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson I LOVE this series but its been years since I have done a full reread of the whole series. And with having them all on my bookshelves, I just need to get back to one of my favorite couples of all time. And this time I have physically reading at the same time I listen to the audiobook. Then I will be picking up One Look by Lena Hendrix I have been seeing this author kinda everywhere and I want to know what the hype is about with her. Plus that cover….yeah I love the sexy scruff look. Then on to some angst with The Predator by Runyxx I have been seeing so much love for this series, more than I even see for Gothikana so want to know why it so well loved. I haven’t read a historical in a bit so decided to try for Galen’s new release The King and Vi and from what I could see its a retelling for King and I so I am highly intrigued. And I love this cover, it has such a ethereal feel to it. My library request finally came through for Say You Still Love Me by KA Tucker I am really excited to get back to this author. I just love her stuff.

What a conclusion to their story. I just loved these two together. They had such a endearing story that melts the heart! Loved seeing what they overcome.

I liked Making Faces. I remember it being very emotional. Anything 9/11 always gets me too. Glad to see you enjoyed it so much. I read that Tucker book a few years ago as well. It was a solid book. Hope you like it

It sounds like you had a good reading week besides the few not-so-good ones. I finished Book Lovers this week and adored it! Yes, January is the longest month of the year, especially in Utah because of the inversion. I feel like my lungs are dying a slow terrible death, lol. Hopefully, February will be nicer with less inversion. Have a great week!

I can confirm that this month has been endless! So glad to see you loved Making Faces! It was a tearjerker, for sure. Say You Still Love Me didn’t seem to get a lot of attention when it released, but I enjoyed it.

I hope you love Riveted! I did. I didn’t love Say You Still Love Me, but it’s second chance and there are a lot of flashbacks and flashbacks are not my thing.

Yeah I am very excited for Riveted. I have really been wanting to explore her backlist. Good to know the Tucker has flashbacks. As long as I know that going into it, then I am okay with it. But I love second chance.

January is 3 billion weeks long. It’s insane. I wasn’t a fan of that particular Crownover book either. But Riveted was GREAT! I hate love triangles as well. I won’t even read them because they just irritate me.
