Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of July 16th Through July 22nd
This was such a great reading week especially. I am at 13 read books this past week! That is so great especially considering last week was 8 books haha I was voraciously obsessed with books this week and I was lucky to pick up so many goodies this week. Like best books of the year type of reading. This weekend is Pioneers Day (Its a Utah Holiday which celebrates when the pioneers came into Utah) Its really just another day for BBQ’s and fireworks haha But it should be fun with the family and will be heading to Vernal for it.
(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)
List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads
Book Read-Cockpit by K. Bromberg—Rating 4.5 Stars—This is probably my favorite of the series so far. I still have a novella to read but I adored Cockpit so so much. Had some unexpected angst which I knocked off half a star for, but the chemistry was fabulous and loved the hero as a single dad. He was beyond dreamy.
Book Read-Pure Requiem by Aja James—Rating 4 Stars—What a beautiful book and loved the family connections that we see built in this story. Its not a five star because quite frankly there is no romance in this and has a cliffhanger, I need this man to get a HEA.
Book Read-Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning—Rating 5 Stars—This book packed such a punch! I adored this one so so much. But whew it was bananas at times, but I really enjoyed how this author has written this series. But you definitely need to be more open minded on certain sexual situations that this author implements. But these band members are holding my heart!
Book read-Beautifully Broken Life by Catherine Cowles—Rating 4.5 Stars—What a beautiful romance! I don’t think this author could EVER write a book I wouldn’t enjoy haha What was the most remarkable on this one was how the relationship was slowly built on the story and it makes sense too because of what the heroine has gone through and the PTSD she is suffering from especially when men are nearby. Super poignant of a story.
Book Read-The Breed Next Door by Lora Leigh—Rating 4 Stars—What a fun novella. This was one of the novella’s I never read in the series the first time. And this book had me laughing all over the place. The hero literally is so new to yard work he chops her roses to pieces haha
Book Listened-Bound by Vengeance by Ryan Michele–Rating 3.5 Stars—This was an almost DNF rated story. While it was well fleshed out, it tackled abortion and normally that would be a DNF. I think the only reason I stuck with this one was because it was a result of a rape and the author really delved into the guilt/shame aspects of choosing to do an abortion which we never talk about the psychological effects on what women deal with when they make this choice. I really respected how the author handled this one because it wasn’t political or to push an agenda, but to show something real that does happen but is never talked about.
Book Read-Baby for the Bosshole by Nadia Lee—Rating 4 Stars—What a fun rom com this one was! I laughed so hard throughout this book and the dialogue especially from the hero was delightful! Not a perfect book, but highly entertaining.
Book Read (Combo) The Legend by Donna Grant—Rating 4.5 Stars—Best of the series so far! This book kicked ass! I loved just about everything about this book here. Its making me realize how much more I need read this author especially her contemporary and suspense books.
Book Read-Buckled by Pam Godwin—Rating 4 Stars—Didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first book but it was still really good. It just had a third act breakup that was dragged out way too much (like over a year) and it had zero purpose to it or that’s how it was portrayed.
Book Listened-The Architect by Nikki Sloane—Rating 4 Stars—I loved this one, it was super good but whew was it SPICY!!! I keep forgetting how hot this series is. Some of her other books aren’t as steamy. haha But it was a interesting menage. Not your average one, but it had such a complex dynamic and loved how it was developed and the ending was awesome!
Book Listened-Us by Sarina Bowen + Elle Kennedy—Rating 5 Stars—One of the BEST books of the year! It was even better than the first book. #Wesmie 4 ever! If you haven’t read this, READ IT! haha I am still speechless over it and the audio narration was brilliant!
Book Read-Joe’s Wife by Cheryl St. John—Rating 4 Stars—Such a delightful story. This was a endearingly sweet western romance. I have heard this author writes such wonderful westerns and now I am seeing it. Its marriage of convenience and really endearing.
Book Listened-King of Wrath by Ana Huang–Rating 5 Stars—This book packed such a punch. What is it about how this author writes a enemies to lovers that is pure perfection. I know that this author is either a hit or miss, but she is one of those hyped authors that I actually LOVE. And this book was so brilliant and the audio narration is a duet so I highly recommend, its delightfully done! And I love how she writes diversity in her books. Its so genuine.

Current Reads
Just started Wilde Love by Jennifer Ryan, I am always in love with Ryan and I can’t wait for this one especially with how the last book teased at this book. Bring in a sexy biker to her westerns. Beautifully Broken Spirit is one I truly am looking forward to. I know its going to be angsty though but Cowles always delivers. Very excited to get to the Julie Anne Long with How to Tame a Wild Rogue this book is releasing this week so I do need to get to this one here. Then I am going to finish up the Everyday Heroes series with the finale novella Control by K. Bromberg and very intrigued to see what she does with this one. And then finish off my weekend reading with Wicked Beat by Olivia Cunning and ready to get further into the Sinners on Tour series.

My Weekly TBR
These are books that I have for what I term a flexible TBR shelf for the week. As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR. So for this week, I have a rom com, some dark and contemporary, historical and PNR.

New Additions to AR Library
Grabbed up some goodies here. 1 ARC, some KU that I need in my library to remind me why I need to read them.
I DNFed two books that I didn’t realize would be about abortion. They leaned more agenda. Just not my thing. I feel people are free to make choices for themselves, but not my thing, and I felt like I was ambushed because it wasn’t even a side glance at the topic. It’s all good. Hope pioneer day was a good time.
You are a rock star! 13 books in a single week is super impressive. I was sitting at 2 books for the week on Friday but I was able to finish the book on my Kindle and my audiobook so the total went up to 4. Us is an amazing book. Have a great week!
Baby for the Bosshole looks fun! I have that Catherine Cowles from my library but I’m not sure I’ll get to it before the expiration date. I hope you enjoy the Pioneer Days holiday celebration! Montana Love Rider looks interesting!
I’m so glad you love Wesmie! It is such a special series. I’m always in awe of how much you read in a week. I have the time in the summer, but not the attention span.
Glad you felt much better about your reading numbers and loved most of the books you read. Have a fun Pioneer Day! My parents’ neighborhood goes nuts with family get togethers and fireworks and lots of times the Odgen Rodeo is going on, too. Enjoy your trip to Vernal.
I’m not one who likes to read deep emotion books or those sorts of heartfelt choices like abortion. A women’s fic I was reading recently had a mid-aged woman looking back on her own choices and I kept tearing up even though it was a side point in the story.
Huh, I didn’t know there was a novella after Us by Bowen and Kennedy.
Have a good week, Renee!
I loved Beautifully Broken Life. It’s amazing how Cowles has become such a favorite of mine over the last year or so. I just finished her Further to Fall this morning. 🙂 If I remember correctly, Buckled was my least favorite in the Trail or Tears trilogy. The first book, Knotted, is still my favorite. I’m so thrilled you loved Us! I adore that one and there’s no telling how many times I’ve read it and listened to it. lol
You’ll love Epic!
13 books in a week? Wow.. that is a lot. How do you manage that?
I’m glad you’ve had a good week.
I love how most of your current reads have clinch covers! Your favorite 🙂
Happy reading! XO
