Weekly Recap (Week 12) Winter Will Never End

by | Mar 19, 2023 | Sunday Post | 5 comments

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of March 12th through March 18th

So I really jinkxed myself, because this past week was really cold haha Its like winter just doesn’t want to let go and is being so stubborn. I was able to visit my sister last weekend as it was my Nephew’s birthday and that was fun although it was a bit of a drive (about three hours) This week of reading though was a bit less than expected but still solid at eight books! I had some mouth pain this past week and I won’t get into my dentist till this week. So yeah just drinking lots of caffeine and trying to manage the pain as best as I can. So it can be hard to read as much as I want to when I am in a ton of pain ya know?

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Listened-Unforgiven by Rebecca Zanetti—Rating 4 Stars—This was such a great finale to the series (I think its the finale anyway, but I could see the author doing another spin off series of this one) I have really loved this world that she has crafted.

Book Read-The Edge of the Blad by Jeffe Kennedy–Rating 3.5 Stars—This book while it was good, it didn’t quite meet up to my expectations. It has the fling trope, and this trope can be a hit or miss for me and it really takes a certain style for it to work for me. The story was pretty good, it just didn’t quite engage me as I was hoping for.

Book Read-Born of Ashes by Caris Roane—Rating 4 Stars–This book was so endearing. I just loved returning to this series here. This was more of a couple you know is together, but the heroine suffered from abuse, so you see it being more of a slow burn.

Book Read-Up All Night with a Good Duke by Amy Rose Bennett—Rating 4 Stars—This was such a delightful read! I just loved how sexy and endearing it was. I am really loving the voice of this author and how she writes characters in her historicals!

Book Read-Dark Possession by Aja James—Rating 5 Stars—This book was AMAZING! I can’t express how much I adored this book and just worked so well for me. I have loved this series and author, and she is so underrated. If you like authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward or Nalini Singh, then you need to read this author. Her world building is spectacular.

Book Read-Protector by Anna Hackett—Rating 4 Stars—Such a solid read for a fun series. This series is so entertaining. In this one we have a hero who has special magical abilities and a heroine who is recovering from being kidnapped and abused. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

Book Read-When A Girl Loves an Earl by Elisa Braden—Rating 4 Stars—This really worked so well for me. I just adore a pining heroine, our hero is so tormented and closed off from love and this is the type of heroine he needs. She is so strong willed but also willing to take accountability for decisions she makes.

Book Read-Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker—-Rating 5 Stars—THIS BOOK BLEW MY MIND! I completely understand how this one was a nominee for best romance for Goodreads back in 2013. (back when they actually recognized the genre) It was so endearing and emotional and had me in all my feels! Just seeing what these two go through and how they find their way to their HEA was SO BEAUTIFUL!

Current Reads

So my current audio I am not sure on, I will try physically reading the Caldwell, but if its too slow for me I will grab it up in audiobook. Then I am going to be physically reading the duology by Maggie Cole, I am really excited to see her writing something non mafia but still dark romance. I have really fallen behind on these Jennifer Ashley books. To be honest part of it is her newer covers are very cringe as she went self publishing. But somehow I skipped over Guardian’s Mate so I definitely want to grab this one up. J.Kenner is an author I have been wanting to read more of, I just love her style of contemporary that I feel like not many authors write in any more.

Book Releases I am Excited For

In Isabeau’s Eyes by Lora Leigh

Brutalize Me by Michelle Heard

The Girl in the Woods by Kristen Ashley

Highest Bidder by Sara Cate

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, but I will endeavor to try with these. I have some great books lined up this week!

Favorite Book of the Week

This book was EVERYTHING! It had an alpha male, great spice, heroine grows in such a shocking but amazing way, and is so hilarious!

We had a storm move up the coast. Luckily, no accumulations in my area, but they hammered further north. I will be happy to see winter go. Hope you get some relief for your pain. That’s a long time to have to wait when it hurts. Eight books is still great, and you even had a five-star book. Yeah!

Winter doesn’t want to let us go either! Although, I’m not going to complain too much because we’re getting rain and not snow. All week, though. Temps back to mid 40s and we had such a lovely few days of upper 50s and sunshine. I want spring! Hope you get your mouth pain resolved. That’s the worst.

I LOVED Ten Tiny Breaths! So happy you did too, Renee!
