This is a new feature I want to try to do on a more consistent basis, I have actually received such great feedback for this weekly post, so I will be doing this weekly. I am so excited as I always have such great recommendations as I read all over the genre and my hope is that I can share recs that are for all the sub genres if I can! The “Recommend It” feature, is where I will recommend romances based on a certain theme, trope or character type. If you have a trope or theme or character type you want me to put at the top of my list, I have a form that I have created that will just automatically upload into my spreadsheet and I will put it at the top of my list! I feel like as book bloggers, reviewers, readers, we all have great lists to share and this is what I hope I can do for any that want to expand their horizons in the romance genre.

So today my pick for the week is “Fling” romances. Now for those that don’t know exactly what this trope is, its where the couple begins with a casual relationship with the focus being sexual in the beginning, but it turns into something deeper. I actually sometimes HATE this trope, I really don’t like sex starting in the relationship, however, there are ALWAYS the outliers of any trope and I am going to share the books that won me over in this trope where I am much more open to it now.

TOP FAVORITE PICK—GOLD STAR READ

This book reigns supreme and honestly is this author’s BEST WRITING EVER! This is her debut novel and isn’t the cover gorgeous? Its a Romeo and Juliet retelling (with a HEA), interracial romance, family feuds, secret love affair and of course, their love is forbidden. But seeing them grow together and fight for their love is precious. And boy do they fight for it.

This author writes some of the best fling romances. She does have a few books that start out with it. Once you read the series then you might understand why. But this is her 4th book in the series. And its FABULOUSL. I five starred this one. I just loved it so much. Its in a fantasy/PNR world, with groupings of vampires and if you love diversity, she writes it so well. This does start out as a fling and the characters going on a hunt for the elusive villain of the series!

This is one of my favorite books from this author. I haven’t read too much of her. BUT I feel like this trilogy gets so easily lost in comparison to her fantasy books. But if you like contemporary gothic romance, then this book needs to be on your list. The chemistry between these two is igniting and takes place in Louisianna and there is a ghost haunting them, I mean its all mystery and intrigue and passion!

This book is one that I know no one has read lol I think I found this one through a random netgalley pick YEARS ago. But I LOVED it. It has a mix of fling and secret baby (and one of the few secret baby romances I love). So the heroine and hero have a one night affair, the heroine gets pregnant and has no way to locate the hero at first. But when her son start portraying certain magical abilities as he is a shifter wolf, she literally searches the world for the hero. Its pretty amazing.

This book delivers such a solid fling trope. If you love this author, and havent read this one, then I highly recommend this one here. Its fabulous in every way! I adored how their relationship builds and combines so well with the military life. It also brings into focus the harsh realities of choosing to love a military man. I really admired the way in which Chanel Cleeton brought to surface real life issues in such a endearing romance!

What a beautiful story this is! I think this is my favorite regency/victorian romance from this author! This is where the heroine is sold at auction, so their relationship begins with the focus being sexual. But there is so much more to this one, as the hero suffers from a disability that he has kept secret from the Ton. Its just delightfull!!

I know some of you or most of you will recognize this one, as its a newer release and I just had to put it on here. It was actually my favorite of the trilogy and probably one of my favorites from this author. There was something about this one which ticked off all of my boxes. I absolutely adored it in so many ways! It has snowboarding, winter themed, return to hometown, unrequited love and when they come together its just right!

This book is just so wonderful! Its a racing romance where the hero is a professional race car driver. We just don’t have enough of these in the romance genre. I love a good racer. The heroine is a single mother and just looking for a man for no strings attached. But their connection is powerful, and their one night casual affair turns quickly into so much more.

Their story starts out with a short love affair, I really loved this one. This author handled the least likeable tropes and just makes them work. But not surprsising, this is Maya Banks after all. It has a intricate plot, keeps you at the edge of your seat and great family ties. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, then you definitely need to grab this one up here.

If you are a fan of mafia romance, then I can’t recommend this author enough to you. She writes the best. And this one was so delicious. Our hero and heroine meet in Vegas! They have a sexy one night affair and then find each other again shortly later and its just superb in every way! I love what the author explores in this one.

This is a mix of a fling and second chance romance. They were once childhood best friends, but they were torn apart. Now that they are back together, they decided to go for a casual affair which quickly turns into something more and I absolutely LOVED the way this author handled this.

I had to put a sci fi romance in this list so here is one of my more recent reads that I really had a fun time with! Love what this author did with this one here. These two have some hurdles to climb. The hero is just with the gladiators on contract and its for a short time. And its forbidden on his world to “love”, but loved seeing these two learn to discover love together and learning to fight for each other.

If you would like to give me your requests for what type of recs you would like in a recommend it post, I have a link HERE so that I can put them at the top of the line!

So what do you think of my recommendations for “Fling Romances”? What are some of your favorites that I need to add to my TBR? Let me know in the comments below!
