This is a new feature I want to try to do on a more consistent basis, I have actually received such great feedback for this weekly post, so I will be doing this weekly. I am so excited as I always have such great recommendations as I read all over the genre and my hope is that I can share recs that are for all the sub genres if I can! The “Recommend It” feature, is where I will recommend romances based on a certain theme, trope or character type. If you have a trope or theme or character type you want me to put at the top of my list, I have a form that I have created that will just automatically upload into my spreadsheet and I will put it at the top of my list! I feel like as book bloggers, reviewers, readers, we all have great lists to share and this is what I hope I can do for any that want to expand their horizons in the romance genre.
I absolutely LOVE this one and how it implements the auction theme. This is where the heroine is forced to a auction for a mistress to a TON lord to pay off her family’s debts.
This setting is a dark UF setting. Its futuristic, where humans are slaves to vampires and werewolves. The heroine is a human woman put on the block.
This is a contemporary setting, an office romance witha sense of forbidden and there is a slight auction. Its super fascinating seeing these two come together.
This involves the Colonial era in America, and the hero in the need for an indentured servant to take care of his son as he is a widower and shipbuilder. The heroine was taken from England and forced into servitude and their love story is so sweet! Probably the best intro to this author’s writing.
Sophie Jordan really delivered on this one here. Where the heroine is being auctioned off by her husband to be a bride to someone else. This actually happened in England until it was outlawed in the 1900’s I think. Really enjoyed the author’s take on it.
Creole Fires is a interesting one but I just had to put it on here. It does have some enemies to lovers feels to the story as well as childhood ties. Its set in Louisianna and deals with antebellum era. Also mixes well with tortured characters.
If you would like to give me your requests for what type of recs you would like in a recommend it post, I have a link HERE so that I can put them at the top of the line!
I never thought about this – auctions. I have read a book or two where there was an auction at some point, but not where it played a major role. Interesting focus you chose this week.
These are all new to me. But I haven’t been looking into new books since I have about 100 books on my Kindle to get through.
Never thought of this category, but thanks for the recommends!
When I was hunting out new erotic romances to try, I noticed auctions were a really big thing in lots of those, but I’ve mostly read auctions in my historicals from indentured servants, to slaves to selling wives, LOL.
I didn’t realize there were so many books with auctions in them! I have read a few, but I think they were all erotica.
The only books I can recall with auctions were the Circle B Ranch series by Kennedy Fox. And those were just for fun as fundraisers. Mama Bishop insisted all the single ranch hands take part and get auctioned off as bachelors. 🙂
