February 2023: Monthly Recap

by | Mar 2, 2023 | At A Glance | 5 comments

The month of love is OVER! But you all know me, I am all for love year round haha I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day and month. There is something so special about February. I hope you all had a wonderful reading month though. Mine was fabulous and even though my reading count was a bit less than expected, I also had more going on and work did get busier this month so listened to about half of what I normally do. But some highlights, I got to see Titanic in 3D, and you all NEED to see it in 3D, its spectacular! As for my reading, it was such a great month, although not as great as I was hoping for to be honest. I hope you all had a blast in February!

Acquisitions/Savings

So one of my goals for this year, is to track my acquisitions and see what I am saving through my subscriptions and such. So each month I will be sharing my month’s current savings. Now while part of me would love to purchase everything and keep all of it, and while I do have the money to buy books, its nice to save money when and where I can especially during a recession.

February Totals:

Total Spent: $9.19

Subscription Costs: Libraries, Audible Plus, Anyplay, KU: $28.98

Total Savings: $160.08

Reading Challenges

So, I am not participating in too many reading challenges this year. My focus for the year is the Goodreads (of course), Romanceopoly and a few of the reading challenges on Storygraph. Just simple ones. So below I will be sharing my reading progress with you on these every month.

Goodreads Reading Challenge

I am at 84 books out of 500 and I am 3 books ahead. So far I am doing pretty good with this one. Although my plans for March are going to be to read much more. As technically I would like to get closer to 600 but we shall see haha

Romanceopoly Reading Challenge-Under the Covers Book Blog

I am having a blast with this. I convinced a friend “Brianna” who also used to be a book blogger but is now a author, to do this with me. So every saturday night we roll together and its been so fun! So I have completed 38% of the challenge. I have been keeping up with the books that I plan on for this. So below I will share the books that I have read for this challenge.

Three things in my life were fact.
I needed Sarah to survive.
I needed sex to remain sane.
And I could never mix sex with Sarah.

I just knew—deep in my marrow—that if I did, I’d somehow lose her. All my deepest darkest secrets would crack open, bleed out, and ruin everything between us. I wouldn’t unleash the shit inside me on my worst enemy, let alone her. So she stayed strictly in the friend zone.

People probably thought I never went there with her because of her cerebral palsy, but f*ck them. She knew she was the most important person in my world, and I wasn’t about to risk hurting our relationship just to make my c*ck happy.

Until the moment she begged me to take her virginity.
Now it’s all about to hit the fan, because how the hell do you resist the one person forbidden to you when she says please?

This book was the most beautiful book I read this month! Literally my top February read. It has disability rep, new adult romance, low angst, friends to lovers and addicting writing to charm your socks off!

There is no one more adored…
Everyone knows that the Lady High Priestess Evelyn is virtuous and noble, one of the leaders of the rebellion against the unjust usurper, as well as a gentle healer who channels the powers of the gods to help the sick and injured.

There is no one more despised…
Orrin Blackhart, the Scourge of Palins, is renowned as an evil man. As the war leader of one of the usurper’s supporters, he has killed many and has stood by while the sorceress he served created an army of the undead.

And there is nothing more unexpected than passion…
When Orrin takes Evelyn prisoner during the war, each will uncover more to the other than they expected. And souls that should have clashed will be forged in desire, redemption, and glory…

there is something so unique about the way this author writes fantasy! This book was so endearing and beautiful. I just loved the characters, the plot and the worldbuilding. This author is so underrated. If you love epic fantasy romance, READ THIS AUTHOR!!

“Ever since we first met, I’ve imagined what it would be like to be in your arms, to feel your lips upon mine. I’m twenty-eight years old. A shy and oft-times awkward spinster with singular scientific interests, and I’ve…I’ve never been kissed. Not once. In fact, I never thought I would ever want to be kissed. But then I met you and…and I do want this. Very much.”

Miss Lucy Bertram is content to spend her days writing scientific articles or curling up with a Gothic romance novel. Indeed, she’d rather stick a hatpin in her eye than attend a ball. But when her father, the eccentric botanist Sir Oswald, insists she accept the suit of a wealthy but stiffer-than-a-poker industrialist to save the family from penury, Lucy decides to act. She’s certain her disowned brother, Monty, will take her side. But first she must find him in St. Giles’s cutthroat rookeries.

A covert agent for the Crown, William Lockhart, the Earl of Kyle, is on the hunt for a ruthless killer determined to destroy the Linnean Society. Sir Oswald, a botanical poisons expert, is the prime suspect. Posing as a groom in the baronet’s household, it shouldn’t take Will long to unearth the evidence Scotland Yard needs. If only the beguiling Miss Bertram wasn’t so damn distracting…

As an unexpected but undeniable passion flares between Lucy and Will, confidences are exchanged and dark secrets come to light. But will a murderer, determined to stay hidden, destroy their chances of finding a happy-ever-after?

I actually read two more books in February than I did in January. With three fewer days in the month, I’m not sure how that happened! 🙂 I love seeing Whispers of You get some love!
