Author Deep Dive: Jennifer Ryan

Deep Dives is a new feature here on the site, I have been wanting to do this for a while now. This is a feature where I will focus on the works of one specific author (and if you want an author for me to delve into their works, let me know and I will add it to my list) normally this feature will be an author that is popular or readers want more background on. But I think this is a good idea as I have seen it around booktube and bookstagram. So I thought it would be fun to maybe get it going in the blogging atmosphere! We gotta stay with the times peeps haha

I chose Jennifer Ryan because she is an author that I have read most of her books on so felt like I know somewhat about her books enough to do a deep dive.

So today, the feature that we will be doing will be for Jennifer Ryan. Jennifer Ryan has become such a favorite author of mine to read especially for romantic suspense and contemporary westerns. Jennifer Ryan’s talent is in writing westerns with a mix of suspense implemented into her stories. She is the type of author that will instantly grab your attention and pull you so quickly into a story. Her books always deal with some form of PTSD, Domestic Abuse or some other types of disabilities and struggles that most author’s don’t address. You will normally find a protective alpha-mellow hero, a strong but vulnerable heroine, and the type of writing that will keep you up late reading. She also will always deal with challenging issues but blending it in so well with a western setting in most cases. I have enjoyed this author since her Montana Men series was released. Her books can be so addictive, intense and gratifying.

Montana Men

These books were the first ones that I have ever read from this author. This series will instantly pull you in so quickly, you won’t be able to put these books down. I love how intense these books are, the way that the characters instantly steal their way into your heart and the difficult issues that the author address. This series is also the most “page turners” type of reads. This series is set in Montana, it deals with a family ranch, also quite a bit of rodeo riders and the western theme is so well described. If you aren’t a western fan, these books will make you one!

Hunted

This is a series that is based upon a family and friends that are connected. Its also a mix of westerns, with FBI agents set in the city. It has such a great mix of books that will show another side to suspense. I actually recently binged this series recently and it had such a unique tone to the series that sets these books apart from the rest of Jennifer Ryan’s books. If you love suspense with seeing other aspects of law enforcement you don’t normally see in westerns, then you definitely need to grab these up here. These are some of this author’s earliest books so while its not as fine tuned as some of her other series, they are super solid reads and so unique and very memorable.

McBride’s

This is a trilogy that is set in a small western town and also tackles some unique issues that won’t always work for every reader, but this author handles it so well. I haven’t read the whole trilogy but the one’s I have read, was so different than what I was expecting. I think this trilogy will charm many of her readers.

Montana Heat

I ADORE these books, there is something so unique in writing these books which deal with DEA agents and the issues with drug lords and drug trafficking. I really loved how this author wrote this story. I love how protective the heroes are, and how fierce they are in the women that they love and standing up for what is right. There is such a wonderful balance that we see within these books. There is a sense of complexity that is blended in with these stories.

Wild Rose Ranch

I just ADORE these books so so much. This trilogy would have to be one of my favorite series that this author has written if I am being honest. I just adore the unique set up that the author implements here. The heroines all had mothers that were sex workers from a place called “Wild Rose Ranch”. I really enjoyed how Jennifer Ryan wrote these books and how well done they implemented these aspects and seeing how the effects of neglectful parents can affect children. There is such a strong sisterhood between the heroines and I just enjoyed how well these were handled.

McGrath

There is something so wonderful about these books. This trilogy actually deals with PTSD and some elements of religious cults. This trilogy will really make every reader fall in love. I adored how Jennifer Ryan wrote these books and the way she handled the aspects that the characters have to overcome.

Wyoming Wilde

This is the current series that this author is currently writing and I am really loving it so far. It features a set of brothers, and I am really loving what the author is doing with these books here. These is such a strong sense of sexy charm implemented here with such vulnerabilities that are so endearingly expressed. I can’t wait for Max’s book.

Women’s Fiction-Single Titles

Women’s Fiction doesn’t really appeal to me and these are the few of the author’s books that I haven’t read yet, but I do plan on reading these. I think Jennifer Ryan is one of the few authors that would get me excited to pick up this sub genre.
