Author Deep Dive: C.L. Wilson

Deep Dives is a new feature here on the site, I have been wanting to do this for a while now. This is a feature where I will focus on the works of one specific author (and if you want an author for me to delve into their works, let me know and I will add it to my list) normally this feature will be an author that is popular or readers want more background on. But I think this is a good idea as I have seen it around booktube and bookstagram. So I thought it would be fun to maybe get it going in the blogging atmosphere! We gotta stay with the times peeps haha

C.L. Wilson is an author I have been in love with ever since I discovered her Tairen Soul Series which is true old fashioned style fantasy. I was so drawn into the magnificent world building that she crafted within that series. It has some wonderful tropes, well developed romance, the characters just come to life and it has some depth to the story. I really enjoy her style of epic fantasy romance and in fact she is the author that got me hooked into Epic fantasy romance. I will always have a deep love for this author and the way that she writes fantasy romance. She is one of the best out there. I know that she has been gone the past few years, unfortunately, her father passed away I believe, and she took a hiatus from writing. What I have grown to respect about this author is the way in which she communicates with her readers. If the book isn’t up to quality for the readers or her writing isn’t what it should be, she communicates it so well with her base. I recommend keeping connected on her Facebook. But lately update from a couple of months ago, is that she has returned to writing and working on book 3 ” Jaguar King” and I am hoping its still with Avon and they do a cover to match the rest of the series. Because the first two books have the most beautiful covers!

Tairen Soul Series

This is one of the BEST epic fantasy series that has ever been written. I absolutely adore what the author has done with this series. It has a feel for the old school fantasy type of world building. This series is based off of one couple which is Fey King Rain and Ellysetta. The tropes that we have is: fated mates, rags to riches, class difference, Alpha possessive hero, and a bit of a slow burn. These elements are so well done here, and I love that these books just deliver on the romance but also is so well balanced with the world building that is such a fascinating world. The whole series is superb and highly addictive. The villain is great and really ads to a great element of conflict within the story. Love the way that the inner conflict is minimal and the focus is outer conflict and the way that our couple just works so well together.

Weathermages of Mystral

This is her most current series and both books were five star reads for me! I absolutely adored them both. And the stories are just as beautiful as the covers. I do love how engaging these books are, the family connections, the magical elements that are introduced, and the depths of the plot developments that are delivered. I really love the weather like themes to the stories and how compelling the romances are built. They are very different from her Tairen Soul books, but just as wonderful. If you haven’t read these books and you love fantasy, I can’t recommend these enough!
