Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of December 3rd through December 9th

So This week was a really solid week. I was able to take my parents out for my mother’s birthday dinner, to a Mali Pizza place we have here locally. Then I focused this week on doing some blog things for December so it was a pretty busy week, and despite the busy week I also got 9 books read. And even though there were a ton of new releases I wasn’t able to get the books read as I would have liked. But I do have a long weekend so I want to focus on catching up on reading. I am not concerned about reading my goal if I am being honest. I know some readers rush at the end of the year, but I am like 13 books ahead lol so I am probably going to reach it next week. I also have lost my mood for audiobooks a bit, just have been wanting to listen to music a bit more. I gifted myself brand new headphones from Bose, they had some new ones roll out that take advantage of Spatial Audio and a more immersive style. So my apple music is getting used a ton here lol but wow they are amazing. Love the quality of sound. Hopefully, I can get to some audiobooks again. I am pretty behind on reviews, so I really need to catch up on those, but I may just do some quick reviews so I can catch up more easily.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and descriptions of opinions via goodreads

Book Read-A Reckless Match by Kate Bateman—Rating 4 Stars—This book was super good! I really see why people love this author. If you love a good family feud, then I recommend this one. The banter was delightful and loved how the enemies to lovers evolved. How it resolved in the end felt too rushed. We got no real good reaction from the families involved and I just feel like it could have been executed a bit better but still a solid fun read with a fabulous plot with some smugglers.

Book Read-Vow of Deception by Rina Kent—Rating 4 Stars—This was a pretty fun beginning to this trilogy. I have been wanting to read this author’s backlist. And I just fell hard for this couple and the complexity was beautiful. The story started off pretty slow though, so it took me some time with it. Sometimes Rina Kent, you just have to be a bit more patient with. But I was so intrigued by what was happening with this couple. And what a cliffhanger because the cliffhanger hints that not everything is as it seems including the heroine herself realizing secrets about herself she didn’t know.

Book Read-Tempted by Deception by Rina Kent—Rating 4.25—This book really shows the history behind what connects the couple, it really connects the dots to many of the mysteries and reveals that happened in the first book. This is basically a massive flashback, but its one that we really needed to see here. The complexity that is built within this installment was so shocking. I have see this author write some great stuff, but the way that she wrote this impressed me and I couldn’t let go of it.

Book Read-Consumed by Deception by Rina Kent—Rating 5 Stars—This trilogy really got better with each installment. This book was fantastic. I just loved this couple and seeing everything come together was beautiful. My favorite aspect was the growth of the heroine, how mature she becomes and how she fights for the relationship and for the hero. And we also see some danger aspects involving the mafia business he is involved with. I really admired all the happy couple page time we get with this one and just so many endearing feels.

Book Read-Montana Sanctuary by Josie Jade—Rating 4 Stars—This was a really interesting one. This was my first from this author and I adored it. It was a mix of Melissa Foster and Jennifer Ryan. So if you like those authors, then I definitely recommend this one. I loved the idea that the ranch is about helping people heal and recover from trauma. The premise was fascinating and the romance was sweet. I did feel the type of steam just didn’t fit with the story though.

Book Read-Old Flame by Sam Mariano—Rating 4 Stars–What a wonderful read. I really loved getting to Dante’s book. Dante is the mysterious dark brother that is so broody and truly an anti hero. I really enjoyed getting to the finale here. There is technically one other book but not yet sure I will do that one. Its Mateo’s POV of the plot of the series, so not sure I want to read that one but maybe when I get in the mood for it I will do that.

Book Read-Second Bite by S.J. Tilly—Rating 4 Stars–This book was a pure delight! I absolutely loved it. My only complaint is that it just wasn’t long enough. This is a fun holiday read. Highly recommend it to everyone. The premise is a christmas baking show. And loved how our characters are with each other. Super endearing and had my emotions all in. I can’t wait to explore more from this author.

Book Read-Resist by K. Bromberg—Rating 4 Stars–I really had a fun time with the angst in this one. There is so much drama but loved our characters and they were really relatable. This the first book of a two book series so there is a cliffhanger but really enjoyed how our couple get’s setup here.

Book Read-Reveal by K. Bromberg—Rating 4 Stars—This is where we get the finale for our pair here. Even though there was communication issues in this one, and these two really need to learn the value of trust. But the story is full of sexy vibes with some alpha male delights and even though inner angst can drive me bananas, K. Bromberg is always fun to read and really had a fun time with these.

Current Reads

As I wasn’t able to read as much as I would have liked last week, I will be working on mostly new releases this week. So my current lineup is going to be a Christmas dark romance with How The Hitman Stole Christmas and the book sounds as hilarious as the title suggests. Basically the hero is a hitman for the mafia and he helps the heroine with a flat tire, and kidnaps her to be his fake girlfriend for his families Christmas party lol then I will be picking up Among the Heather by Samantha Young and I am really stoked for this one. Its a new release and I have just loved this world that this author has written in. Then we have God of Fury by Rina Kent. This is her first MM romance and I am really excited for it. And yay for some more Christmas books with Christmas in a Cowboy’s Arms anthology and I really love all of these authors. The only author I haven’t read is Anna Schmidt and this will be a great way to try out her books. then I will be picking up my next Bella Di Corte with Kingdom of Corruption, I know this features the heroine being targeted by the villain so I am intrigued.

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have for what I term a flexible TBR shelf for the week. As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR. This week I am starting on the Christmas reads alongside with some new releases and series I am working through.

Favorite Book of the Week

This book blew me away. I loved the complexity and the way these two come together in the end to work as a team and really learn to communicate with each other and both fight for the relationship and there was such beautiful unity within this story that just captivated me.

I always set my goal low enough that I hit it sometime in the summer. I don’t want to find myself rushed at the end. I am always behind when it comes to reviewing. It is wonderful that you were able to take your parents out to celebrate your moms birthday. I have a pair of Bose over the ear headphones that I love so I am really curious about the new ones that you picked up. I hope that you have a wonderful reading week!
