Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of January 14th through January 20th

What a wild week…..it has gone by so quick, at least for me it has. I was pretty busy as I had a project working on with my spreadsheet implementing a five year with my regular sheets so its been keeping me busy but now I am completely caught up so hopefully now I can focus on reading as I want to. So my reading week I really only was able to do mostly audiobooks. But I was able to read some great ones and so I didn’t risk getting behind I did do some Nalini Singh short stories I actually haven’t gotten to. So those were fun. But also a couple of my books this week were over 700 pages haha But I did have some GREAT books I read this week so the quality of my reading was fabulous!

(All links to the reviews will guide you to my Goodreads Reviews)

Book Read-War of Monsters by Bella Di Corte—-Rating 4.5 Stars—This was a beast to get read. It was over 700 pages but also didn’t have any audio for it, so it just took a few days to get through. The plot was intriguing though and we can really see things escalating for our couple. But what a book. It really put me through the ringer emotionally. But this couple is just top tier!

Book Listened-The Truth About Him by Molly O’Keefe—Rating 6 Stars—What a BOOK!! This one was amazing. After reading the first book, it had a massive cliffhanger, so Sunday I immediately had to jump into this one here. I loved it. Their story was so endearing and poignant and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Book Listened-Fury of Frustration by Coreene Callahan—-Rating 3.5 Stars—I enjoyed this book but the way the story was written was confusing. It was way too rushed and the way the plot was built, was very confusing. For example the heroine starts out as a office secretary and then suddenly she is this badass witch like no growth or evolvement in HOW that happens lol

Book Listened-A Wolfe Among Dragons by Kathryn Le Veque—Rating 6 Stars—THIS STORY WAS EVERYTHING! It messed with my feels so deeply. I don’t even know what this author was doing with this story but the author must have placed it in reader crack lol The history was so real and the romance was so deep and beautiful.

Book Listened-With Every Breath by Maya Banks—-Rating 4 Stars–I did have a fun time with this one. For suspense, it had a fabulous plot and it kept me so enthralled. But it did have an unlikeable heroine who I really struggled with enjoying. But I was so hooked into the story I kept with it and it did get better. Not my favorite series from this author, but I have really enjoyed it.

Book Listened-Under the Stars by Laura Pavlov—Rating 4 Stars—Such a sweet poignant story. I really enjoyed it. The heroine was crazy and bratty though. Some of the actions she takes in the beginning, just had me cringing in embarrassment lol (I would NEVER even think to do things she does to the hero) but the hero was such a alpha cinnamon roll and it was delicious. I am not sure why authors write these type of heroines that just act so entitled and disrespectful. But I guess it makes a good plot haha

Book Listened-Respect by Jay Crownover—Rating 4.5 Stars—-What a FINALE! Absolutely loved this book. Jay Crownover delivers in this trilogy. I love her Point books. They are so edgy and intense and she writes the BEST bad boys. And I honestly wanted to listen to all the Taylor Swift while reading it. My heart went all into for these two.

Bookish Posts to Look Forward To

Books I have Lined Up for Preorder

Week 4 of January Releases of 2024

Fast Five-Historical Fiction

Recommend It: Bully Romance

Current Reads

Avenged by Jay Crownover is the last book in the Point series, its a novella connected to a Lilliana Hart series. I have been wanting to work through Tilly’s backlist so Mr. Sin is next on my list. Dream of Dragons by Aja James I honestly can’t wait to delve into this one. I just didn’t have time for it this past week. But bring on the DRAGONS. Now I am FINALLY getting to Binding 13 man I am so ready to get to this one. I know its a long one though. But I have listened to some of the audiobook and its really charming so far. I am beyond intrigued and curious how their story will grow. I have been wanting to read more of the 1001 Dark Nights so starting with the first one.

My Weekly TBR

My weekly TBR consists of what I term a “Flexible TBR” basically means I try to read this TBR every week, but sometimes I will also pick up some random books that just sound good at the time. But I will endear to stick with my TBR as its carefully picked.

Favorite Book of the Week

This had everything you look for in a medieval historical. It has adventure, passion, history, suspense and deep emotion! This really packed a deep punch and had me all in my feels! This one deals with the Welsh/English conflict.

New Additions to AR Library

I got the Tucker and Callen from the library. I added the rest to my KU library. These are all I have seen around mostly on bookstagram and I am really interested in trying out.

You read (listened to) some chunky books this week! 🙂 I never get why so many reader shy away from (or refuse to read) long books. If it’s a good story, there’s just more to enjoy! I’ll be interested to see how you like Making Faces. It’s been years since I read that one but it stayed with me. I’ve yet to read anything by Jenshak but she is one I want to try.

haha yeah one was 600 pages and the other was 700 and honestly they were some of my favorites of the week. I don’t mind chunky books I just like to know beforehand or its like am I just reading slow LOL cause I have been reading for 3 hours and I am only halfway?? LOL (keep in mind it takes about 3 hours for me to get through a 350-400 page book)

I am so thrilled you had such a positive experience with Making Faces. I can’t wait to try it out! I hope you enjoy the Jenshak too, I just hear the best things.

I haven’t read a book hitting 700+ pages since I read fantasy. At least it was a great read. You had a lot of high ratings; always wonderful. Hope you have another banner reading week.

haha yeah this is a epic love suspense series. It has some dark elements but its not your typical mafia romance at all. Its more a couple gets pulled into the mafia world to survive type of thing. Its probably a great beginner book to mafia romance though. Because its not heavily dark other than what the couple has to overcome together. Its definitely a couple against the world type of setup though.

Yeah my quality of reading was definitely more positive that is for sure! Hope you had a fabulous week and can’t wait to check out your recap darling! Happy Sunday and Happy Reading!

Yeah I found a 5 year one so I worked on incorporating my current one with that one as with how much I read, I think it would be easier to track things. I think you would enjoy O’Keefe. Her writing is well done.

I have a spreadsheet as well and it’s always such a great feeling when I get it updated. I’m usually pretty good at keeping it updated. Last year, though, I went 8 months without touching it and it took about a month of continuous working on it to get it updated. I’ve made a vow to never let it go that long again, lol.

Yeah I have a personalized spreadsheet I do on here, but then I saw that someone had a five year one and I was like that would be perfect especially with how much I read and it would make it easier to not have to prep a new one every single year. I have gotten in the habit of keeping it updated. Just because I do a review for all the books I read so its just part of my process when I cross post reviews. But yes if you get behind it can literally take FOREVER!!!! haha
