This past week was much more calmer than last week which I am grateful for. Nothing too significant happened, just kept busy at work and busy with reading. I did work on cleaning up my TBR list on Goodreads. Its way out of control haha and was able to clean out 2,000 books out of it. And to be honest the books I cleaned out I don’t see myself ever actually reading which most of them are bodice rippers so it feels nice to have cleaned it all out. I am getting back into reading and its been so nice although I have my mood days. We got some storms earlier this week and now we have some cooler temps in the 70’s, and yes for Utah after months of 90-100 degree weather, it feels so perfect! I just love entering into the Autumn season, there are so many fun things to look forward to. I am working on trying to get my TBR read for the COYER Summer which ends at the end of the month. We shall see if I am able to finish it but I have high hopes. There are still a full two more weeks though in September so plenty of time to get what I need read. I will say that this past week was a great week of reading, and even though I didn’t quite read my whole TBR I got through most of it, haha and a exciting new release came out this week that was so delightful, and will be doing a fun post this week for it. I was able to read some amazing books and made my goal of 10 books.
Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week September 11th through September 17 th
(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, Storygraph and Literal Club)
Book Read-The Rake’s Daughter by Anne Gracie-Rating 3.5 I had a fun time with this audiobook, it was such an interesting story even if it was a bit slow. But I have been struggling with HR lately, and most of them have seemed slow especially if they are regency. I did enjoy the sisterhood and the whole guardian/ward trope that was elemented. I am intrigued to see where this author is planning on taking this series.
Book Read-A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone–Rating 5 I now know why everyone has raved about these books and honestly I knew after looking at the covers that there would be such a sensual mystery to these books. I won’t say much as even my review was tiny as I didn’t want to spoil anything. This is one of those books you DO want to go into blind though. It does have a gothic like theme to it though so its really perfect to read in this time of year.
Books Read-White Nights duo series—4 Stars—This was a unique and fun series and its been a while since I have read such a possessive hero but he is Russian which is my catnip so it worked haha I really liked what was written here though and it was fun getting back to Anna Zaires.
Book Listened-Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand-5 Stars—I ADORED this book so much. This was also my first Amish romance and I have to say that it was so refreshing. It was just nice to have strong characters in living a traditional lifestyle and not being ashamed of it. I definitely can’t wait to read more of this author and this character type.
Book Listened-A Wolf in Duke’s Clothing by Susanna Allen-3 Stars—I really struggled with this book and it was in audio which is rare. But the writing was so slow and it felt weird, the plot and character types were strongly written, but the pacing and writing style just didn’t seem to fit and seemed a bit of a mess to be honest. It just didn’t flow good but I really was intrigued by the world building.
ARC Book Read-Archangel’s Resurrection by Nalini Singh-5 Stars—if I could have rated this higher I would have haha this book was so epic and beautiful and perfect in every way. I just loved seeing how it connected to previous books and getting more depths on other characters and story lines while also getting such a solid romance that was written here and see such relationship growth even if it took centuries for them to get it together haha
Book Listened-Broken by Rebecca Zanetti–4 Stars—As always this author just writes the best romantic suspense and I was in love with this book. I had such a fun time with this dynamic and its rare for me to enjoy a journalist heroine but I did with this one here. It just was so well done and the heroine wasn’t toxic or manipulative, she was relatable. I enjoyed seeing Wolfe get his story.
Book Read-Pride and Pleasure by Sylvia Day—This was my first time reading this author and I was pulled in with the first chapter but after that it was super slow going but it was a bit more sexy than I normally see in a historical so that was nice to have something different. I might try her other HR in audio and see if I enjoy those better.
Book Read-Dancing Beneath You by Rosanne Bittner—5 STARS —-This book was spectacular! That is all I can really say to be honest. It was so beautiful. This was the first contempory/supsense that this author has written and she did really well with it. This one just swept me up and was well researched which I appreciated. You don’t see too many Native American romances set in a modern setting so I really enjoyed how it was done. If you are a Bittner fan, you definitely need to pick this one up.

My Current Audiobook is Grim Shadows by Jenn Bennett and I am really enjoying this one here and very intrigued to see where the author takes this one here. I will be reading Eros next, I have been wanting to get back to the Mythos series. And I decided to get back to Melissa Foster and get back to this series, and I hear this book is amazing, so I have high hopes for it. Then I will be listening to Huckleberry Summer, which is book 2 in the Matcmaker’s series and I had such a fun time with the first book so I am excited for this one.
Book Releases I am Excited For

My Weekly TBR
These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them. So for this week I have some fun books planned ahead here. I have had the Jennifer Snow on my kindle for a while now and been wanting to grab it up plus the cover is so “Autumn” I just want to grab it up. I have heard some great things about the Vampire Blood series and hear its fairy tale retelling so I am highly intrigued. I then gotta get book 2 of the Sierra Simone series and I am so curious to see more as the first book ended in a cliffhanger (but I will say that its the first time I didn’t have issues with it haha and those that have read this series probably know why). And I have heard the best things about Catherine Cowles and I know this series is suspense, and I have been wanting to pick up more suspense lately. Its a sub genre in romance that for some reason I love but I just don’t end up picking up as much as I would like to.

Wow! 2000 on the TBR. I do a clean up every few months. It helps keep it manageable and filled with books I actually am still interested in. I would be quite happy with temps in the 70s. We are in the 80s. Come on, September! I would love to turn the a/c off. I want to read the new Snow. Her books are always good. Enjoy!
The storms and cooler weather has been nice, hasn’t it? I don’t hate going outside or running errands anymore. Hopefully, we won’t go straight into winter weather in the next month and it’ll remain fall weather for a while.
I’m glad you have a calmer week! I hope you have another one this week!
My Sunday Post
Cleaning out that Goodreads TBR list always feels good. I always check my duplicates too for errors, etc. Our weather is all over from 90s to 60s. Even though I am an Autumn baby, I love summer best. I hope you enjoy Grimm Shadows.
I am enjoying the cooler weather too. That is a lot of books to clear off of your TBR list! Hope you have a great week!
I love weeks where it is calm and easy. Yay for getting through your reading stack and cheering you on to hit your summer COYER goal. I’m glad to see you loved the Rosanne Bittner and the Nalini Singh (reading it right now).
Have a good week, Renee!
Looks like you found some good books. I read The Black Lily and liked it.
My tbr is so out of control on Goodreads that I don’t even worry about it anymore. My actual TBR is actually worse. We both read Bittner last week! I definitely need to read more of her work. I hope that you have a great week!
Yay for the cooler temps! It’s been raining for the last two days and the trees are starting to change colors! Exciting! I’m looking forward to Archangel’s Resurrection so happy to see you loved it! That Juliette Cross looks good and I loved Grim Shadows. Hope you do too! Enjoy the Fall weather, Renee!
I had a very short layover in Utah and thought of you! I am excited for archangels resurrection but I do REALLY need a Raphael and Elena book again!
Our weather has gotten cooler in the PNW as well. We dropped from high 80s and low 90s to the low 70s. It will be low 60s here before I know it. Once temps start to drop in the fall, they drop quickly. Enjoy your relief from the heat!
Cleaning out the TBR is always such a good feeling. 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy Tattered Stars as much as I did when you get to it!
