Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of September 2 through September 9th
Happy Star Trek Day! So this past week on the eighth, we had Star Trek Day! So, for all you trekkies out there, hope you had some fun watching some Star Trek. I grew up with Star Trek, so its always been a favorite and brings back all the nostalgia. I absolutely had some fun times with the family going back and watching some of our favorite episodes. So if you are a trekkie….who is your favorite captain? Mine is Patrick Stewart. I know I know the scandal in not saying Kirk, but Picard is the best and I will die on this hill haha
So my reading for this week was alright, it was solid at 10 books and with everything happening this week with busier calls at work as we had quite a few callouts, still good to see. I did some binge watching of course this week but hopefully this upcoming week will get back to my regular program of reading. I have also been focus on eating healthier. And will start doing a bit more in my workouts other than going on my swims.
(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

Book Read-It Had To Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips—Rating 5 Stars—WOW this book was amazing. Why did I wait so long to read this one? it was so good. Now this is what a rom com should be! It had such great balance to it with fantastic emotional depth while also delivering the right touch of humor that it needed. Loved the setup of this one and the characters being mature. Definitely can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Book Read-The Temporary Wife by Catharina Maura—Rating 4.5 Stars—Another great installment that has me hooked into this authors writing. I am falling so hard for her writing style. I honestly can’t recommend this author enough. Definitely worth the hype.
Book Read-When A Texan Gambles by Jodi Thomas—Rating 4 Stars–A solid western. Not as good as the first book. I did this as a buddy read. The heroine was kinda weird, it was understandable, but it did detract from the story a bit in the way that she was written. But fantastic plot.
Book Reread-Shadow Trail by Rosanne Bittner—Rating 5 Stars—I did this as a reread as a close friend is reading these for the first time and I wanted it to be fresh in my mind as we talked about it. Loved Jake and Randy.
Book Review-Jet by Jay Crownover—Rating 4 Stars–I had a blast with this one here. It was delivered just right and truly fell hard for this couple. While it wasn’t a perfect story as the third act was a hard one, I enjoyed it so much. I can’t wait to delve more into this series.
Book Listened-Bound by Fate by Ryan Michele—Rating 5 Stars–I absolutely loved this one. Best book of the author that I have read so far. There was such a emotional journey and great character development in this one. Everything was perfectly done in this book.
Book Re-Read—Dancing Beneath You by Rosanne Bittner—Rating 5 Stars—It was great doing a reread of this one and getting it fresh in my mind especially for our hero.
Book Read-Autumn Lover by Elizabeth Lowell—Rating 4 Stars—This was a great historical western. It had a great plot. The hero was a bit of a jerk. haha Its understandable why he is the way he is but wasn’t a huge fan in how he treated the heroine at times. But it had great autumn/fall vibes. And it also makes me want to read more of this author in the near future.

Current Reads
My current Audiobook is “Top Secret” by Sarina Bowen + Elle Kennedy. I have been wanting to get to all those books that these two authors have put together. I also got this on the audible sale they had this week. So if you want this in audio its $4.99! I have no clue what this one is about, going into it pretty much blind though. Then we have Be With Me and to be honest I don’t really know what this is about, maybe its a menage from the cover but her contemporary books are always a delight. Then we have a Brittany Ann, and I know that this is part of a four book series, I am not sure how the series is written, so I may just read the whole series, we shall see if there are cliffhangers or not. Montana Lone Rider is a cowboy romance. This is my first time with this author and I have heard good things. Then I will be doing a buddy read with the third book in the “Wife Lottery” series and the blurb of this makes it sound so angsty so we shall see if it delivers.

My Weekly TBR
These are books that I have for what I term a flexible TBR shelf for the week. As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR. This week my focus is a blend of working on series I am working through.
Favorite Book of the Week
New Additions to AR Library
This was a great week for adding books to my library! There were some great deals this week. And I got Dark Memory by Berkley.
I haven’t read a Chicago Stars book in a while, though, I saw that SEP has a new book coming out. I only watched the original Star Trek, so I guess Shatner is my favorite Captain. That’s a fun day to celebrate with your family.
You had a great week of reading. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Top Secret. Best wishes for the rest of the week.
I was more of a star wars fan than star trek. My older brother loved star trek though. I did like the newer movies with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
We did have Star Trek when I was young(er) but honestly I was not a big fan! Glad to know that your reading week was good (you amaze me with your ten books!!). Have a great week Renee!
Yep, love Star Trek! My fav is the original show, but I can’t say I prefer a captain so much as the whole cast together. Good on you for hitting your health goals this past week. Love seeing all the high ratings on your last batch of reads.
Have a good week, Renee!
Confession: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full episode of Star Trek. And I’ve not seen any of the movies. Just never got into it. Glad you enjoyed Star Trek day, though! 🙂 I love seeing Jet and Rome among your reads. So much love for that series. Rome has a scene that was so emotional to me that I cry every time I listen to it. I get choked up just thinking about it.
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed Jet. I hope Rome treats you just as well. And same for Top Secret. That one was fun.
I will die on the hill of Captain Jean Luc Picard too!!
Have an amazing week, love! xo
