Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of August 6th through August 12th

What a fun week this has been even though it held some frustrations as well. If you were here last week, you would have seen that I got a new kindle paperwhite and I love it. Its far different from using the scribe. I will still use the scribe just in different ways than how I plan for with the paperwhite. But I was able to finally get everything I needed for it to give it some decor. I have never done this for my kindle but it was really fun and what is great about it is I can change out the stickers as much as I want to. As for my life this week, it was a solid week. I am one week away from my yearly vacation. Very excited to relax and renew. And there has been some crazy news in the romance community lately. Some content creators becoming abusive towards real life hockey players. There are some valid discussions happening in the community that are needed. I completely understand why this family is so upset and I think its important for us to really look at ourselves and separate fiction from reality in how we treat others.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Read-The Frat Boy by Nikki Sloane–Rating 4 Stars—What a HOT smexy read this one was. Enemies to lovers with a forced proximity situation that was implemented and I had a blast of a time with this one here.

Book Review-Booted by Pam Godwin—Rating 4.5 Stars–This book was the perfect finale! Not my favorite of the trilogy, I still think book one is the best however, this one was powerful and emotional and riveting.

Audio Book Review-The Guardian by Donna Grant—Rating 4.5 Stars—This book kicked booty. I just loved this finale. Its definitely been a week of finishing off series haha In this one we have a story of a group of people fighting against a evil organization that are trying to poison the world.

ARC Book Review-Perilous Kiss by Tara Sue Me—Rating 4 Stars—What a interesting story. This definitely had feels of “Bourbon Kings by Ward” and I really enjoyed the southern vibes. And had a great mystery.

Book Re Read-Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath—Rating 5 Stars—This was a reread but I did it in audio. This was the first time listening to this book and the narration was FANTASTIC. I had forgotten how much I loved this series and Jack Dodger especially was such a dreamboat.

Book Read-Beautifully Broken Redemption by Catherine Cowles—Rating 5 Stars–I really had a blast with this one here. I think its my favorite of the series. These two were so adorable together and I love a marriage of convenience.

Audio Book Read-Bound by Destiny by Ryan Michele—Rating 3.5 Stars—I really struggled with this one. It had a love triangle and I so wasn’t expecting it. So yeah it was okay but I can’t tell you how tempted I was to mark this as a DNF. But I muddled through itand the later half got much better.

Book Read-Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy—Rating 5 Stars—What a STORY!! I absolutely loved Blake’s story. And wow he was such a hoot. I couldn’t stop laughing. And his mama —she cracked me up so hard. I know where he gets his bubbly personality. This whole world I am so in love with. These authors write such impactful books. They are also getting me really into hockey romance. And seriously one of my favorite parts was seeing the reaction from Jamie and Wes when they learn that Blake and Jess are together, I literally fell off my couch I was laughing so hard.

Book Read-Fighting Fate by Linda Kage—Rating 4.5 Stars—I really enjoyed this one and it had me in all of my feels. It completely tore my emotions apart and I just fell apart. Linda Kage just has this talent of tearing you apart emotionally at times. And the premise of the story makes sense why. But I ended up in love despite the emotional war she put me through haha

Book Read-Heaven Can’t Wait by Pamela Clare—Rating 4 Stars—-This novella was such fun to get to. I loved seeing their engagement and more depths to their “bet” to not have sex for a few weeks before they get married. And left me with some fabulous feels.

As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR. For this week I have some mafia, vampires, and a long awaited historical romance from Bittner.

Favorite Book of the Week

If I had to choose a top read of the week, it would most definitely be this one! Such a perfect read.

Yeah for Good Boy! Those books were great. Glad you enjoyed it so much. I don’t go on social media much, so I have no idea what drama you are talking about, but it important to separate reality from fiction.

Yeah Good Boy was such a blast. So yeah basically there is this book tok influencer who became obsessed over a hockey player and would go to their teams games and make vile sexual comments and blast it all over tik tok. And it just got to the point where it made the spouses of the players very uncomfortable. Basically its a situation of sexual harassment and pretty serious actually. Here is a link to a booktube video about it. https://youtu.be/GcagZWSQ4V8 To be honest once I saw all the content this tik toker did it really made me uncomfortable and its kinda been big all over the romance community so much so that sports illustrated even has done an article on it.

Yay for one week until vacay for you and I’m glad you had a good week in real life and reading. Your Paperwhite cover looks so cute the way you personalized it. I heard a little about the hockey real life/fiction thing, too. I’m so glad you loved Good Boy. That made my Top Ten the year I read it.

    Have a good week, Renee!

I missed the tick tok hockey drama, but I don’t go on tick tok. I just read your reply to Sam and wow, crazy! People need to get a clue and check themselves!

I loved Fighting Fate so I’m happy to see you did too! I’m looking forward to Bad Luck Vampire! I won’t request on Netgalley because most of the time Harper/Avon rejects me and I can just get it along with the audio at my library anyhow.

Yay for some upcoming vacation! I hope you enjoy your time off! 🙂
