Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of June 25th through July 1st
Happy Independence Day to both American’s and Canadians this weekend! I can’t believe that we have entered July already. Can you all believe we are officially halfway through the year?? Totally bananas. Been such a great year so far. I hope whether you celebrate Independence Day this weekend or on the 4th that you have fun with your loved ones. I am taking my parents to Little Mermaid tonight. They have really loved the live actions done. My dad’s Canadian, so its our way of celebrating haha (not that I am going to complain seeing that again with all the treats and theatre popcorn included). My reading this week was good but I was busy as work was a bit busier than I am used to so wasn’t able to listen to audiobooks throughout the week like I am used to and had some family visiting. But 7 books is pretty good still despite the busier week I had.
(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

Book Read-Ride With Me by Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele—Rating 4 Stars—This is part of the MC series I am currently working through but also had a bonus story that connected with another author. I really love it when authors come together to write a duology. This was a great epilogue type of story and loved seeing the aspects we see get introduced. Definitely a fun read.
Book Read-Reckless Refuge by Catherine Cowles—-Rating 4 Stars—-What a fabulous book this one was. I absolutely loved it. While it didn’t quite get to a 5 stars, I LOVED it still. Just not a perfect read fully. But you all know how picky I can be with 5 star ratings.
Book Read-Insta-Family by Linda Kage—Rating 5 Stars—This book blew me away!!! I don’t know what it is about this author, I swear she puts crack in her pages haha but I love it so much but man it definitely had me deep in my emotions! I loved every single moment of it though.
Book Read-Vicious Hearts by Jagger Cole—Rating 4 Stars—What a fabulous and thrilling mafia romance. It has some great angst and some fun family dynamics. I am really getting a kick out of this author for sure. And love that the author is male, that is just rare in romance and I love to see it. We need more of this.
Book Read-Lucky Stars by Kristen Ashley—Rating 4.5 Stars—Such a good read! While it started out very rough, it worked itself out. Its a classic KA, so I had such fun seeing her work her magic on this one for me. Man I really miss her writing style and almost done with her backlist which makes me sad no more KA. I can’t read her modern style, I don’t care for it much.
Book Read-Notorious by Minerva Spencer—Rating DNF—-Its been like 2 months since I have had to DNF a book but the heroine was driving me bananas haha I just don’t think I was in the right frame of mind to handle her. I am putting this one off for a while.
Book Read-Combust by K.Bromberg—Rating 4 Stars—I finished off the week with a amazing read! Absolutely loved this one. And the romance was so endearing and I just have such a soft heart for a tortured hero.

Current Reads
The audio that I am currently grabbing the historical–The Good Girl’s Guide to Rakes by Eva Leigh, I have just started it, but the hero and heroine already have great chemistry so I am highly intrigued. Then I am doing a buddy read today with a friend from Instagram (we tend to like to go after the non hyped fantasy reads), and picking up this Jeffe Kennedy. Then I will be grabbing up this Linda Kage. I am kind of sad I have caught up to all of her descendants, but I do have plenty of her other books to dig into. But I can’t wait for this one. I have really enjoyed seeing these characters in previous books. Him is a long-awaited book I have been wanting to get to. EVERYONE raves about this one, so you better all be right on this one. I do love hockey romance and MM pairings, so I am intrigued. Then finishing off the beginning of my week with Knotted this is basically a dark cowboy romance. The series features a group of brothers and I hear these are really fun to read and I definitely have been wanting more cowboys lately.

My Weekly TBR
These are books that I have for what I term a flexible TBR shelf for the week. As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR. So for this week I am mixing in plenty of sub genres. I have some romantic suspense, dark romance, sci fi, historical and some conotemporary. Very excited for the lineup I have.

Nothing this week!
The Little Mermaid may be able to attribute. large chunk of its revenue to you. I hope the family enjoys the film as much as you did.
Sounds like you have fun plans to celebrate Canada Day and the 4th. Seven books is more than respectable with all you had going on this week. Bummer about the DNF, but sometimes you gotta. Yay for another Linda Kage winner. Shari, my old blogging partner, loved that Pam Godwin series.
Enjoy your week, Renee!
Sounds like you guys will have a good time. Happy 4th of July to you too.
I haven’t been to a movie theatre in years. I do love The Little Mermaid though. 7 books during a busy week is amazing! I hope that you have a wonderful week!
Have fun at the movie! I was never a fan of the little mermaid, so I don’t think I will watch the live action one, but I am thrilled that so many people are loving it! Glad you enjoyed Combust-I love K. Bromberg!
Sounds like you have some wonderful plans and I hope you have a fantastic weekend! 7 books in a week is still awesome, and I hope you have a great week to come!
Enjoy your movie outing.
I hope you have a good time at the movies. I wouldn’t mind seeing The Little Mermaid again myself. It was good–and who can resist theater popcorn? I hope you enjoy your reading! Shadow Wizard caught my eye of your current reads. I will have to check that one out. I hope you are enjoying it! I should probably get better about coming up with a flexible list of books to read next rather than letting my moods carry me. It would save a lot of time on trying to decide what of my available books to read next. You wouldn’t think it would take so much time deciding, but it sometimes takes me for what seems like forever. I hope you have a great week!
Seven books is what I read in nearly 7 weeks! LOL Happy Independence Day Renee! Now your dad being Canadian I understand how you got a French surname!
I can’t believe it is July either! Where is this year going? I hope you have a wonderful time at the movies. Hopefully you’re still enjoying Him!
Seven books in a week may be low to you but it impresses the heck out of me. 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you think oh Him. I hope it hasn’t been hyped to the point that it’s bound to suffer. Knotted was a dark one but I really liked it. I’ve read the whole trilogy and it was by far my favorite.
Hope you enjoy the Little Mermaid with your parents. Seven books is wonderful and it seems like you read some good ones! I want to check out that KA.
