Weekly Recap (Week 23) Spring Cleaning + June Reset

by | Jun 4, 2023 | Sunday Post | 5 comments

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of May 28th through June 3rd

What a solid reading week this turned out to be. I didn’t do much this week though, just was solid for work and blogging. We have officially entered the month of June, which is also pride month as well as Men’s Health Awareness month as well. But its also the beginning of summer so I am excited to do all the summer things planning on some hiking, swimming and reading out in the sunshine. So probably means I will have time for more books haha This week I got to nine books so that is pretty solid for me there. I did quite a bit of spring cleaning this past week, so pretty exhausted this weekend but planning on recharging a bit.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Read-Illicit King by Maggie Cole–Rating 4 Stars—What a mafia romance this one turned out to be. Maggie Cole really knows how to build the intensity and the authentic mafia feels to a story. This is definitely full of some cool dynamics that I actually enjoy and I really loved the whole Romeo/Juliet retelling vibes in this one and LOVED it was set in Ireland.

Book Read-King of the Court by R.S. Grey—Rating 3 Stars–I wanted to love this one, I really did BUT it didn’t quite get there if I am being honest. I just couldn’t seem to connect to these to, it could be the author’s writing style maybe? I am not sure, as I haven’t really read this author much but will try her again one day.

ARC Book Read-Resonance Surge by Nalini Singh—Rating 4.5 Stars—I won’t say too much about this as it hasn’t been released yet, however, I will say we get to return to the BEAR CLANS!! And its so wildly entertaining and all the feels with these two and great Russian vibes. And a side romance is included and Singh really SHOCKED me with what she included here. I think you all will be a bit surprised too but hopefully it will be a happy reaction.

Book Read- The Man Within by Lora Leigh—Rating 4 Stars–This was a REREAD!! Its part of our Breeds read along and dang this book was fun! I had some fun times with this author. Really interesting to see the world building growing a bit more from book one. So I am intrigued to see where the author takes this more.

Book Listened-Consume Me by Ryan Michele—Rating 4 Stars—I am SO loving this author. The more I read into this series, the more I am really gaining respect and just gobbling up these books. Trying not to binge them though. But I am thrilled that Hoopla has some of this series in Audio.

Book Listened-The Rebel by Sophie Lark—Rating 4.5 Stars—-This was such a win of a read for me. I never know with this author, but I ended up really enjoyed this mafia romance and especially getting back to the Kingmakers. Some pieces of the puzzle get put in place and the romance that was so deliciously forbidden delivered completely and a fabulous villain entered the ring and enjoyed the ending in how justice was served. I loved it so much, I immediately jumped into the next book.

Book Read-The Bully by Sophie Lark—Rating 4.75 Stars—THIS BOOK!! Was so amazing. Its dark and deals with a anti hero of sorts but loved their dynamic and seeing how it evolved the story and more of the secrets that have been slowly falling into place concerning the serial growth. It also contained some BDSM aspects but I have found that Sophie Lark really knows how to develop these elements.

Book Listened-The Pool Boy by Nikki Sloane—Rating 4 Stars—I really had a fun time with this, maybe a bit more than book one and I really enjoyed it. Its pretty steamy though but keep that in mind but I really loved seeing our hero’s storyline being more focused on. Love seeing him work on his dreams and the way that the heroine believes in him completely even when he is surrounded by everyone doubts but it is a bit of taboo as there is a age gap and the heroine is the one that is more mature and Erika is also Troy’s mothers best friend. But loved seeing how it all played out, and it was such a perfect summer vibe read!

Book Read-Twisted Hate by Ana Huang—Rating 5 Stars—whew what a angsty delicious read! I absolutely loved this one and I am no more surprised than everyone else how much I adored it. Normally I am wary of some enemies to lovers but this one, totally worked for me. I actually loved it. It had such the perfect evolvement from enemies….to lovers and really enjoyed how Ana Huang really did her take on it and plus stars for an interracial romance, very well done!

Bookish Posts To Look Forward To This Week

None Planned for the week….so be prepared for some surprises

Current Reads

What a fabulous line up I have for the weekend: The current audiobook that I am working on is: Munro by Kresley Cole, and I have been meaning to read this since it was released a year and a half ago, but better late than never. Very excited for this fated mates/enemies to lovers dynamic. Then we have my current kindle book which is “Liars Like Us by J.T. Geissinger” and what a wonderful story this is so far. It kinda has a possessive alpha male with “You’ve Got Mail” vibes to it, really interesting. The heroine is stubborn lol Hoping she gets better. “Secrets That We Keep by Linda Kage” I just haven’t gotten to, I had some other books get put in my reading line up last week, so going to get into this one here. As you probably have noticed, I am working my way through this authors work and she always delivers on the charm and laughs. A new release in “Bound by Cara Clare” and very excited for this one here, because its a dark romance with a shere khan retelling and I have never read one of those so I am thrilled! Then planning on finishing off my Sunday with Scandalous by Minerva Spencer. I have really enjoyed what this author has written so far, just fun adventure filled historical journeys that entertain so much. Have no clue what this one is about, but very curious about it.

Book Releases I am Excited For

Royally In Trouble by Meghan Quinn

Wolf on the Wild Side by Terry Spear

Hendrix by Sawyer Bennett

Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have for what I term a flexible TBR shelf for the week. As some of you know, I have been working on switching from being a mood reader to a TBR reader where I just work around a flexible weekly TBR and eventually I want to do monthly TBR’s. That will be more work and adjustment so I am not ready for that yet, but working to get there.

Favorite Book of the Week

This book has been pretty hyped so I was nervous for it, but it came out delivering all the way!

I have seen those Huang books around. I am not one for high levels of angst, but I may give them a listen.
