Weekly Recap (Week 15)Easter Weekend

by | Apr 9, 2023 | Sunday Post | 9 comments

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of April 2nd through April 8th

This week was SUCH a great week! Now I won’t be able to do oral surgery until this upcoming week, but I was given some stronger antibiotics to keep the pain at a minimum level and its really helping me but I can’t wait for it to be done. This is Easter weekend, so planning on chillin’ with the family with a nice ham dinner and probably watch some Chosen together. And yes its as amazing as people say. So if you are Christian, I highly recommend watching it and you can watch it for free. My reading this past week was REALLY GREAT! Probably the best reading I have had in a month. And it felt so NICE to just be able to relax with books and not worry or be so distracted by pain as much. But I had some FABULOUS READS including a good number of high rated books! And I got caught up on my Romanceopoly reads that I got behind on.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Listened-How To Be A Wallflower by Eloisa James—Rating 3.5 Stars—This was a likable story but there were some plot holes (which I never notice this, so for me to notice this its obvious haha) and I really struggled with how the heroine treated the hero in some ways.

Book Read-A Crack in Everything by L.H. Cosway—Rating 5 Stars—This was amazing. I absolutely loved this story so much and is on my top list of reads of the year. I really need to be reading this author more often, I always love what she writes. Its the first book in a duet featuring an Irish couple and also had some great atmospheric vibes in it as well. It does have a cliffhanger so make sure you have book two ready to go.

Book Read-How The Light Gets In by L.H. Cosway—Rating 5 Stars—What a beautiful conclusion. I just loved seeing how couple find their way back to each other and seeing them just rebuild what they had before and have some happy couple page time. Just superb in every way!

Book read-Royal Elite Epilogue by Rina Kent-Rating 5 Stars–I wish all my favorite series had such an epilogue like this one. Its basically where we get to see all of the couples getting engaged, married, having all the babies and it was fabulous! Just a great way to indulge.

Book Read-Fractured Souls by Neva AltaJ—Rating 4 Stars–This was a fun addition to the series. It wasn’t a perfect book but a solid installment that was delivered. I did enjoy how the author implemented the trauma from human trafficking and was well showcased. We do need more dark romance that tackles human trafficking so I appreciated this author handling it.

Book Read and Listened-Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian—Rating 4 Stars—This was such a fun book! I adored it so much. It was so so much fun to get back to these books and reading this one was a reminder on why I love this author so much and I can’t wait to return to this author.

Book Read and Listened-Better When He’s Brave by Jay Crownover—Rating 4 Stars—Absolutely had such a blast with this one. I really couldn’t get enough of this and loved getting back to this gritty world that this author has created. This one was different because we have a anti heroine getting redeemed so I really enjoyed seeing this get developed in the story and Jay Crownover was so wonderful.

Book Reread-Lady Sophia’s Lover by Lisa Kleypas—Rating 5 Stars—I was re reading this one as I was a bit buddy reading this with a friend who was reading it for the first time and I just LOVED it as much as I have in the past reading it. Sir Ross is still my favorite Kleypas hero. He is so good and honorable and strong. Loved getting back to his story.

Book Read-Mile High by Liz Tomford—Rating 5 Stars—This book was EPIC and amazing. One of the best sport romances that I have ever read. Don’t let what ppl are saying about the hero fool you. Its amazing, and the way we see him pine for the heroine and fight for her but also want someone to fight for him was so swoony! I just adored the depths that this author explores in this one! Such a lovely romance I couldn’t get enough of.

Book Read and Listened-Collision Point by Lora Leigh—Rating 4.5 Stars—This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I just loved returning to this world of Lora Leigh and realizing how much I need to get back to these suspense books especially as I doubt we will get any more breeds! And I do enjoy more steam in my romance, so I think her other books will work more for me. But this one was so endearing and heartbreaking at times. We have a second chance and amnesia set up. The heroine loses her memory, the hero almost loses his life rescuing her from being kidnapped, and we see them come back together and get to the bottom of what happened.

Book Read-In Your Arms Again by Kathryn Smith—Rating 4 Stars—Such a sweet historical! I just adored this one. Its not a perfect book, the pacing was a bit off in the middle, but I really enjoyed the friendship to lovers trope that was developed in this one. Just had me smiling all over the place.

Current Reads

So, my current audio: A Girl Called Samson by Amy Harmon and I am really excited for this one. I just started the audio and its already having me in my feels. It better have a HEA haha although I might cheat and read the ending just to be sure as I haven’t read this author before or much historical fiction in recent years. So let me know in the comments if you have read this one and if its a romance or not. Then my last romanceopoly read before I am fully caught up is Bound by Dreams and I am really excited. Its been quite a while since I indulged in the Caulde Ane series. Its a combo of PNR and contemporary. Then I want to get back to the Scorpius Syndrome series and somehow I skipped over the novella. So going to need to grab up Blaze Erupting. Then I am going to finally pick up this Jennifer Ryan with Max Wilde’s Cowboy Heart . I just love the cover so much, its probably my favorite of the series. In getting ready for the upcoming release of For The Love of Whiskey, I will be picking up Freeing Sully which is a prequel novella to that installment.

Book Releases I am Excited For

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, but I will endeavor to try with these. I have some great books lined up this week! I finally got caught up on my Romanceopoly picks, so Phantom is my group read for my Dark Romance book club I am a part of. If you love dark romance and want to join, let me know and I will send you the link. My two Romanceopoly reads for the week are the KA Tucker and Meghan Quinn. But I also added in some TBR reads as well and a new release from Anna Hackett!

Favorite Book of the Week

This book was everything I needed and more! I absolutely adored this one. One of the best sports romances I have ever read. And is worth the 600 pages, it really fleshes out the character depths and relationship building that I feel like can be missing in many contemporaries.

New Additions to AR Library

Some of these picks are just authors I want to work on, but also a few were part of the big kindle freebie deal that happened this past week so grabbed up some from authors I have been wanting to read. I am picky about the freebies, I only grab them if its a book I want to read. haha

So glad the new antibiotics are helping! And hooray for having such an awesome reading week. I’m definitely interested in the Tomforde book. And A Girl Called Samson is on my TBR this month. Amy Harmon’s books are always big, big hits for me. My heart melted when I saw Lies & Lullabies. So much love for that one!! I loved the whole trilogy but that first book is my favorite.
