Welcome! Happy New Year everyone. I hope that this one is a superb year for you all and are able to have a fun time celebrating the new year! I can’t wait to see all of your goals for the year and the reading challenges you plan on joining up on.
So if any of you have been here a while, you probably all know how much I love the Romanceopoly Reading Challenge. This is a reading challenge that was originally created by Under the Covers Book Blog. Its on its fourth year. Now there are other reading challenges that are monopoly based if you read other genres of fiction or have more eclectic tastes so those might work better for you like Bookopoly and things. What I love about this reading challenge, is it embraces the expansive nature of the romance reading genre. Every time they host this, its so creative.
This past year I was determined to complete this challenge and conquer it and I definitely did that. What I love about this reading challenge, is that its a great way to get through my massive TBR and just focus on those type of books. I sometimes get too caught up in ARC and new releases. And it was really nice to focus a bit on books I have had sitting on my TBR for years, gathering digital dust on Goodreads. haha I have below the books I got read for it. I read SO many great books. Some that have been on my wishlist for years at this point. So it was great to just get through some series and read some books I don’t think I would have gotten to without Romanceopoly.
2024 Romanceopoly Plans
Now this year I have a feeling its going to be different. Their site has been having issues for a couple of months, so I reached out to them directly and their site will be back up in the next few days. So if you love Romanceopoly and need to do it again…..I would recommend just getting started with it on Storygraph until their site is back up where they will have updated cards for the prompts they did. I have some fun books planned to read for this. I have a 12 book tbr for each prompt through storygraph. The reason I do this is one, I tend to roll a couple times a week so I tend to land on the same spot more than once and I like to have plenty of options as well. So it is time consuming but it looks great lol I am not sure what will happen with Romanceopoly this year to be honest. I am thinking of having an official board made though. Instead of just the one I printed out on my own and glued it to cardstock lol I will wait though till the site comes back up to see if the boards are updated or have stayed the same. What I really love about romanceopoly is that its this fun book game for ROMANCE READERS!! They change it around a bit every year, but its not crazy changes and I just have a blast with it. Its super creative and it really has gotten me to read books I probably wouldn’t normally think about reading like romantic thrillers or urban fantasy.
If you are participating in Romanceopoly, what are your plans? What do you think of the new prompts? And if you did it this past year, what was your experience like? Let me know in the comments below!
Impressive. I remember looking at this challenge. It looked fun, but was a bit complicated. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Happy New Year! What a fun challenge. You read some really good ones.
What a comprehensive challenge! I want to read that Linda Lael Miller one. I have a hard copy, I just wished they had an audio that wasn’t abridged. Good luck!
I’ve enjoyed this challenge since they started it and I was glad to see your recent post mentioning that it could be found on Storygraph. I haven’t been doing as much with Storygraph, but I do have an account so I’m participating that way, too.
Way to go getting all the spaces last year! I did, too. You’re right about it helping to stretch into some of the dustier reaches of the bookshelves. 🙂
Cheering you on, Renee!
