Weekly Recap (Week 1) 2024 Reset + Happy New Year

by | Dec 31, 2023 | Sunday Post | 17 comments

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of December 24th through December 31st

Its officially the last day of 2023 and I don’t know about you but I am ready for the year to be done haha 2023 was a year I think for all of us that had its ups and downs for sure. But this last week has just been this weird week of limbo. Once its the day after Christmas, all you are ready for is the New Year and I swear this week has gone by the slowest ever! haha Even though there was a ton of blog and reading prep to do this week for me, it just dragged in the worst of ways. I didn’t even read anything. Normally the last week of the year especially if I have already accomplished my reading challenge, I just relax, spend time with family, and get some reading prep work done so that I am ready to kick off the new year. But I can tell you I have really missed reading and can’t wait to kick off the year strong and steady! Hope you all have a fabulous time celebrating the New Year!

Current Reads

My current audiobook is with Pack by Jeaniene Frost, I actually just discovered that this book existed when I saw it on my Libby. Like what??? LOL I know its just a short story but still and its pretty awesome. Tavia Gilbert is narrating it and really upping the feeling of intensity in it. Then I have this Nicole Fox duo series and its pretty spectacular. I honestly’ can’t put it down, its very consuming. Then we have Claimed by the Horde King by Zoey Draven and this is my Sci Fi pick for the week, although its pretty close to epic fantasy a bit too. I am really loving this series though, not five stars or anything, but super entertaining and warm hearted and consent is pretty well focused. Then to finish off my New Years Weekend, I am going with a new release that I have just been too busy for and that is with Hans by S.J. Tilly I can’t tell you how excited I am for this one. After the hit of Dom, I am totally stoked to see what the author has in store for us.

Book Releases I am Excited For

Frostbitten by Rebecca Zanetti

Searching for Heather by Susan Stoker

Unhinged by Bianca Cole

Protecting Her Heart by Nancy Campbell Allen

Mine to Keep by Natasha Madison

My weekly TBR consists of what I term a “Flexible TBR” basically means I try to read this TBR every week, but sometimes I will also pick up some random books that just sound good at the time. But I will endear to stick with my TBR as its carefully picked.

Okay, I’ve got to go look for Azagoth by Larissa Ione. I’ve just finished reading Legacy of Tempation (the first book of the next generation) and Azagoth makes an appearance. He sounds fun 🙂 I really need to go back and read the Demonica etc. series because I KNOW I’m missing out. Happy reading and Happy New Year!! XOXO

Yeah Azagoth looks super super good too so I was like yes! I have been wanting to explore more of the 1001 Dark Night novellas. I do want to get through her backlist too. She has some great books out there that I have loved.

Yes! I am very excited for Divine Rivals and now with Ruthless Vows out, I have ZERO excuses not to read it. LOL I hear the romance is well done and I don’t read much magical realism so I am very curious about it.

This year was quite a tough one for me, so I am happy to see it end. Sorry to hear this week was such a slow one for you. I hope you can kick off the new year with some good reading as it sounds like you really missed it. I don’t think I could go a whole week without reading. Your current reads sound like they’re all solid reads and I hope they continue to be. Have a great week!

I’m currently reading Whisking It All by Cara Dion. The week btwn Christmas and New Year’s is a real quiet and slow time of year, I had surgery right before Christmas so this week I’ve been resting and watching TV more than reading. I can’t wait to get back to reading.

Such a good feeling to dive back into reading after a short break. It’s like, I missed this and want to read all the books! 🙂 Fun seeing the Marked Men book. I have such nostalgia for that series.
