Recommend It is a new feature I want to try to do on a more consistent basis, I have actually received such great feedback for this weekly post, so I will be doing this weekly. I am so excited as I always have such great recommendations as I read all over the genre and my hope is that I can share recs that are for all the sub-genres if I can! The “Recommend It” feature, is where I will recommend romances based on a certain theme, trope, or character type. If you have a trope or theme or character type you want me to put at the top of my list, I have a form that I have created that will just automatically upload into my spreadsheet and I will put it at the top of my list! I feel like as book bloggers, reviewers, readers, we all have great lists to share and this is what I hope I can do for any who want to expand their horizons in the romance genre.
Today I am going to be sharing some recommendations for MMA Fighters. This is one of my favorite character types of contemporary romance. There is something so appealing about a capable strong masculine man who embraces the power of the human body.
Top Pick
I just love this whole story. Its so epic. Katy Evans is queen when it comes to athletes and playboys.
Worth the Fight is a solid one. It has a more rugged feel to the story. Sarah Castille blends in MMA with BDSM and its BRILLIANT! I was so addicted to this series. Raze by Tillie Cole is very dark. While there is minimal inner angst, the outer conflict is intense and is my favorite Tillie Cole but its a rough one so check trigger warnings on it. But its such a beautiful romance. Then we have The Will. This is a true classic, if you are looking for a more mature couple, try this one out. The Kristen Proby is a bit of forbidden. Basically a hero that is a bad boy and the heroine’s boss. But so well done. Jay Crownover knows how to write a great MMA fighter and you just know she reigns supreme in writing a powerful story.
Dirty English is a solid read. I really enjoyed the British setting for this one. Lori Foster’s Ultimate series is TOP TIER for MMA Romance. Uncivilized is a fun one, the MMA aspect is lighter but its still part of the story. And if you like this author and want a tarzan theme, grab it up. Legend trilogy is powerful and I really enjoyed the MMA aspect that she writes into this one here. This series from J. Kenner is really superb, the MMA is a lighter aspect, but thought I would place it here. Then we have Broken Fighter, if you love mafia romance, then pick this one up. This is one of my favorite books from this author.
I was so surprised when Feehan wrote Cat’s Lair, really had a fun time with her way of implementing the MMA fighter aspect. Laura Kaye has a series devoted to MMA fighter so if you enjoy her work, I recommend these. Snow is one of my favorite books by Sophie Lark, I absolutely adored the MMA fighter aspect. Ares is part of the Mythos series and I ADORED this one. Both characters are fighters and I am always intrigued when the heroine is a fighter too. This was my first Kate Stewart and it was quite fun especially in her twist of the hero being a fighter. Masked by Moonlight is a whole series of paranormal goodness with solid suspense plot aspects to it!
Nice list! I see many I loved. I would also add: Memphis by Ginger Scott, The Hurricane by RJ Prescott, 5th Street series by Elizabeth Reyes, Down and Out by Kelley M. Martin, and Maybe This Time by Chantal Fernando.
oooh!!! I am ADDING all of these to my list!
I haven’t read many of these types of books but the ones I have I enjoyed.
When I saw the title of this post, I immediately thought of that Castille series. I fogot Dirty English featured MMA. I have not finished the Stewart series (yet), but now I know there will be some MMA action. I will add a Katie McGarry book, Take Me On. The heroine is a fighter.
I was on a real MMA romance kick a while back, but I only managed to read one of these. There are so many good ones out there.
