Weekly Recap (Week 37) Football Season is BACK& Long Live the Queen

by | Sep 11, 2022 | Sunday Post | 11 comments

This week just BREEZED by, I can’t believe it’s Sunday already, how on earth did that happen?? LOL This week I had a very solid week of reading, I am starting to get back into reading. This week was pretty calm and relaxed though, nothing too exciting happened. It was my Dad’s birthday and happy that the weekend kicked off with BYU team winning against Baylor. I had a solid week of blogging and reading. Nothing super crazy happened though. Although it was sad to hear that Queen Elizabeth II has passed. I did love seeing all the beautiful tributes to her this week. After the drama lately this summer, I hope our Autumn season is a calm one for the book community. I can’t believe that we are heading into Fall already! Its so crazy. As for my reading, I was able to get through my weekly TBR for the most part. I wasn’t quite in the mood for “Drive by Kate Stewart”. I really want to wait until I am in the mood for a love triangle. I know many love that book and I do want to read it to support the author, maybe I will be in the mood this week, but I did have a DNF unfortunately. I haven’t had many this year thankfully, but it always a blow when I have to DNF a book. My count for the week is 13!!! I definitely had a positive week of reading that is for sure. It feels like a while since I had such a great reading week and most of the books were great ones.

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week September 4 through September 10th

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, Storygraph and Literal Club)

Book Read-Playing With Fire by Gena Showalter–I had such a fun time with this book, it was so different from what I was expecting and I am so curious to see what the other books in the series will bring. Showalter always delivers for solid PNR reads.

Books Read-Naked Trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones--This trilogy was so addictive and I had such a fun time reading these books. I loved the sense of a cozy mystery, and the romance was so beautiful. This author tends to almost always work for me, especially in her duos and trilogies.

Audio Book Read-Inseverable by Cecy Robson-–This book was AMAZING especially in audio it had some unique special affects that you rarely see in a audiobook that it was such a delight to listen to.

Book Read-Love in the Wild by Emma Castle—I half listened to this one and then finished it off by reading it physically. I adored this book. Its a Tarzan retelling and been on my kindle TBR for over a year. This is a easy five star read. If you want a well done Tarzan retelling, you definitely need to read this one here.

Audio Book Read-Woodrose Mountain by RaeAnne Thayne-–Such a great listen. I rated this one 4 stars. I had issues with the heroine in the beginning that detracted a bit from my enjoyment. But the set up was great and we get to see some great redemption in this story. RaeAnne Thayne just writes such solid reads. And was a perfect Autumn read.

Book Read-Lacybourne Manor by Kristen Ashley-This is part of her gothic series and was so interesting and unique. We have reincarnation elements with ghosts and a bit of time travel, set in England with some sexy angst. Not my favorite from this author, but one of the most unique books I have read from her. AND if you need an atmosphereic autumn read, you definitely need to pick this one up.

Book Read-Shattered With You by J. Kenner-This book was AMAZING. I haven’t read J. Kenner in quite some time and I had so much fun reading it. Its basically a James Bond like read. The hero is a secret agent and the heroine is a actress. There was such sweet intensity and a easy and quick read.

DNF Read-Lady Gallant by Suzanne Robinson—I started this and was intrigued, it was recommended to me. BUT I couldn’t deal with the jerk hero, and the cheating elements so I had to DNF. I am very picky about cheating, and most times I will DNF it if it has it.

ARC Book Read-After the Bite by Lynsay Sands—THIS Book was amazing. And probably one of my favorite Sands books in quite a while. Even though I had a migraine, I couldn’t put this one down last night. Its a GOLF set up and so fun. So if you want a golf romance to read, you definitely need to grab this one up. It is releasing later this month.

Book Review-After The Bite by Lynsay Sands

Current Reads

My Current Audiobook is the Anne Gracie “The Rake’s Daughter” I am really intrigued by this one. Its such a fun set up here. And I just always enjoy Anne Gracie. My next ebook to star is “A Lesson in Thorns” by Sierra Simone. This is part of my COYER TBR that I am trying to get finished before the end of September, and I really intrigued by this one. I am told to go into this one knowing nothing, so that is what I am doing, I know NOTHING about it. I will be reading this ARC of Nalini Singh’s next (and she quoted me in it *gasp* yeah I have no clue why haha but many of you know how that is the biggest compliment an author can give us.) Then I will be picking up this duo series by Anna Zaires. I just love her and she writes such addictive reads and I don’t want to lose this momentum of reading that I am getting back into.

Book Releases I am Excited For

Captured by a Sinner by Michelle Heard (I am so excited for this but the angst is going to be intense)

Mine to Cherish by Natasha Madison

The Revenge by Tijan

No Time to Lie by Lexi Blake

Shattered Sea by Catherine Cowles

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them. So I am keeping Drive by Kate Stewart on here and hope I get in the mood for a intense love triangle. My next audiobook will be the Amish romance. This will also be my first Amish romance but I have been wanting to read more inspirational romance and I see Amish romance everywhere so I want to see what is so loved about it. I haven’t read any of Sylvia Day’s historical’s so I am really intrigued. Eros is the next in the contemporary mythos series and I have loved these books. And this is Cupid’s book. Rosanne Bittner just released “Dancing Beneath You” and its her first contemporary. I am super excited to read it!

Favorite Book of the Week

I adored this book so much here. I can definitely see why this is a fan favorite and many claim it being the best in the series. One of the best royal romances I have ever read!

New Additions to A&R

Dancing Beneath You by Rosanne Bittner-Purchased eBook

Smart Tass by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff—Purchased eBook

Your blog is absolutely beautiful! I haven’t read any of your books, but I am not a very big romance reader so it’s no surprise.

Yes, very sad about the Queen’s passing.

Have a good week and happy reading!

I thought this week went by quickly as well, though due to the holiday, I kept getting mixed up as to what day it was. I have only read a few golf romances. I have to go learn more about After the Bite.

A very great reading week alright! So happy for you!

I’ve been watching a lot about the Queen as well. I didn’t know this till my partner told me but she was actually older than sliced bread.

It’s never fun to have to DNF a book. I see that you’re reading one by Nalini Singh. Is the Guild Hunter series tied to the Psy-Changeling series at all – or is it a totally separate series? Hope you have a great week, Renee!

Always yay for a good week and neat that you got to enjoy a winning opener BYU game and your dad’s birthday while getting your reading mojo back in action. Bummer about the DNF, but sounds like it’s more a ‘for now’ thing so maybe it will turn around for you when the mood strikes. I’ve got Archangel’s Resurrection in my TBR stack, too. Woohoo for getting quoted. I’m ultra curious about Rosanne Bittner’s new contemporary. I saw it on her blog and put it on my wish list.

    Have a good week, Renee!
