Recommend It is a new feature I want to try to do on a more consistent basis, I have actually received such great feedback for this weekly post, so I will be doing this weekly. I am so excited as I always have such great recommendations as I read all over the genre and my hope is that I can share recs that are for all the sub-genres if I can! The “Recommend It” feature, is where I will recommend romances based on a certain theme, trope, or character type. If you have a trope or theme or character type you want me to put at the top of my list, I have a form that I have created that will just automatically upload into my spreadsheet and I will put it at the top of my list! I feel like as book bloggers, reviewers, readers, we all have great lists to share and this is what I hope I can do for any who want to expand their horizons in the romance genre.

So today I am going to share some dragon recommendations. I am sure most of you are reading Iron Flame or if you haven’t will soon. I know my audience lol And while that’s not a book for me, I hope you are all really loving it. I do want to mention that these are going to be shifter romance with dragons. I don’t really read monster romance or anything like that. But these are so of my favorite here.

Top Pick

So this author writes some of my favorite characters for a dragon shifter. Its just so well done and detailed for these books not being long at all. You really feel those strong “dragon” vibes with their cultural aspects being solid without taking away from the romances. So any book you read from this author with dragons are winners. I guarantee it.

Pages of the Mind features a dragon but it’s not the hero but she does play a significant role in the story and its super fun yet fascinating. The Kerrelyn Sparks has a dragon shifter and it was pretty lit! So if you are a fantasy fans, highly recommend her Embraced series. Gena Showalter knows how to write a strong dragon alpha male and this story was just fun. Donna Grant has a whole world in her paranormal books that are interconnected with various PNR elements to it but this series “Dark Kings” are such a delight. Super fun and great male bonding in it. Dragon Actually was one of my first dragon romances and it’s pretty lively. GA Aiken always brings out the fun vibes. Dark Storm is an amazing read. Its actually one of my favorite Carpathian books. I mean a dragon Carpathian that lives in a volcano??? Its definitely different but the world-building is great and the dragon aspects to the hero were so fascinating especially in seeing how drawn his dragon is to the heroine.

My favorite books by this author might surprise some since I know how popular her ice planet books are. But actually, I think her Fireblood series is way better. These are dystopian setting with dragon shifters and fated mates. The Inferno Rising series by Abigail Owen is really fun and lots of outer angst. If you love those forbidden feels, then these are the books for you. Abducting Abby is actually a alien romance where the alien is a dragon shifter and its such a curious premise that could be a good palette cleanser. Deborah Cook is an author who writes brilliant dragon Shifters. I love the plot building with these books, very well done if you love good suspense mixed in with your PNR reads. Then we have the Molly Harper read. This is honestly one of the best dragon books. Think small-town romance, magical-themed, and a dragon shifter who has his own horde and likes to mate on a bed of gold. Lorenda Christensen has written such an interesting dragon series here. It’s very different from what you would expect and has a refreshing feel to it.

Wicked Dark Dragon is short and sexy and sweet. It’s a short but captivating series. Dark Embers is the beginning of the Dragon’s Heat series and this is where we have a dying race and a dragon king trying to lead his people to survival. AC Arthur is a wonderful author. I have loved everything I have read from her. And if you are looking for some diversity to put in your dragon reading, this is a great way to go with Awaken the Dragon. I just had to put in the dragon books by Aja James. You know how much I love her work but she writes complex so I haven’t gotten to this yet. NJ Walters has a very unique setup here where the dragons are a mix blend of human and dragon. Grigori is a book that has a blend of Russian heritage with dragons and family history. It is really interesting and highly recommend it if you want a more contemporary feel to a dragon romance.

If you would like to give me your requests for what type of recs you would like in a recommend-it post, I have a link HERE so that I can put them at the top of the line!

Next time I want to pick up a dragon book I’ll have to try one of these. I’d like to try Kerrelyn Sparks at some point. The last dragon book I read was Fourth Wing and I loved it.

I have zero plans to read Iron Flame, but I don’t much fantasy. Dragon books…..The Julie Kagawa Talon books were good. They shift into dragons in that one.

I’ve read many of these authors, but not a lot of these books. Thanks so much for sharing 💜
I’m so glad you added Aja and I can’t wait to see what you think of her dragon series 🙂

Dragons are not something I really care about. I have read Yarros’s series because I love her books. I’ve also read Harry Potter and A Game of Thrones. That’s the extent of my dragon reading.
