About The Book

What do you do when a sociopath loves you? Rising star FBI profiler Laurel Snow is about to find out in New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti’s edgy new romantic thriller . . .

Calling Laurel Snow’s relationship with her newly discovered half-sister challenging is an understatement. Not only does Laurel suspect Abigail is behind the mysterious disappearance of their father, but her erratic behavior also makes life in Laurel’s small hometown interesting, to say the least. Still, when Abigail claims someone is now out to kill her, Laurel’s instinct to protect her sister goes into overdrive. Then things get even more dicey as dead bodies start turning up in the icy waters of the Sauk River and there’s only one connection among them: Abigail . . .

Having Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers bringing in those bodies with his dive team only complicates matters. Huck is as impulsive and fiery as Laurel is coolly analytical, which makes their alliance risky at best. But standing up to such a demonically brilliant killer is going to take all the help Laurel can get. Because Laurel’s attempt to save her troubled sister’s life might cost her own . . .

My Review

First Impressions

You Can Run is the 2nd installment in the “Laurel Snow” series and it was just released this past week which is so exciting. This book is perfect for readers that love romantic thrillers or want to explore the genre a bit more but are still romance readers. Now I will say that the romance does most definitely take a back seat, but its present. I have a feeling we will be seeing their relationship slowly build throughout the series and its done well and boy does Zanetti know how to write a good sex scene. She really implements some well done plot growth on this one and a bit of a alpha male for our hero so what’s not to love. And as a bonus, this is the perfect book to read for this time of year, it has such a strong winter theme to it that I just gravitated towards.

Summary

Our story starts off with a woman being raped and visciously murdered in the snow. Laurel is the head FBI agent on the case, and has heard from Huck in quite some time as he stopped connected with her, but now she is forced to work with him on this serial murder case and tensions between them are high as they work are solving the case while also determining where their relationship stands between them. Laurel is also having to face unresolved issues with her step sister who could either be a target or even the killer herself. There is a connection to some kids involved and women keep getting targeted in the depth of winter.

What I Loved

I just loved so many aspects to this story, it was so intriguing to seeing how this all worked together and how the story was gradually built. I was instantly pulled into the story and I was so happy to be back to this delightful story with Laurel and Huck. And man these two need to just have talks more haha and there is WALL SEX. Zanetti doesn’t shirk on the sensuality of her writing even in a romantic thriller and I really adored that. We still feel the deep tones of chemistry between the pair as they work on solving the investigation. We see more hints at the secrets of how Laurel’s mind works and I really loved seeing that.

What I Struggled With

There wasn’t much that I struggled with, I would have liked just a bit more focus on the relationship builing between Huck and Laurel.

Overall View

I found You Can Run to be a thrilling addition to the series, that offers a plot building of intensity, dramatic relationship interactions and a snowy small town setting to draw you into its charm, UTTERLY A WIN!

This sounds like an exciting one! And what a situation with her step-sister – not know if she’s a target or a suspect. That’s a tricky family dynamic. lol
