I wanted to share one of my favorite genres. This is a very unique genre of romance to read, its unique and creative and can be so fun. And even though I haven’t read much…what I have read I have loved.
Shielder Series
Now this was my first series into science fiction romance…and I am still madly in love with it!! Catherine Spangler did wonders with this series. Its a series based on a group of people that are seeking freedom from certain oppressors that are seeking to overtake the galaxy and destroy any who fight against them. Its a series of adventures, mystery, and suspense with a delightful mix of passion and romance.
Unforgettable Series
This is a wonderful series, and I read this a few years ago and loved it. Plenty of outerspace adventure and romance. With some unique elements but what I loved most about this series is the writing of this author. Very engaging with great plot lines.
Chronicles of the Warlands
Now I have a certain love for this series!! This is one of my favorite authors…she really swept me away with these books…I honestly couldn’t put any of them down!! Probably one of the best romances I have ever read in my life, very compelling and unique. If you haven’t read these books….head over to your favorite bookseller and buy the first book and you won’t regret it!!
Tairen Soul Series
This series is quite wonderful…its based on one couple and their epic love story. We see how their relationship grows through the series and the way they deal with the threats against them. Both characters are vividly pictured and this author does a fantastic job in the wold building. When it comes to fantasy themed world building…this author beats them all!!!
Ly San Ter Family
Now this is the only fantasy and sci fi themed series Johanna Lindsey wrote. It even has a bit of a contemporary romance theme in the third book…so a bit of everything for any romance lover. The first two books have a more historical type setting theme but takes place on other worlds. It was one of the first books I read from this author and boy are they fantastic!! This series is based on a family, the parents are featured in the first book and their two kids are in books 2 and 3. This series is where we take a mix of a warrior like society and mix in some sci fi elements—quite creative and fun and boy so many moments that had me laughing.
Eternal Guardians
This series is a mix between PNR and Fantasy….I put it in the Fantasy column because it deals strongly with greek mythology. Now each of these books are intense, compelling and stimulating. I love what this author has done with this series, and so well written. I have read in both printed and audio formats—both are fantastic.
Kate Daniels
This is truly a wonderful series and with great world building. I love what Illona Andrews, has done with this series. Curran and Kate are such a great couple, and I love that we see their relationship slowly develop through the series. Its so fun to see the dynamics of the various packs and supernatural creatures.
Brides of The Kindred
This is a very unique series, that I fell in love with a couple of years ago when the first book came out. It does have a more intense heated element to it….but the author does great with balancing it out with some decent plots and fun characters.
Already love the Kate Daniels series and liked a couple Brides of the Kindred. I’ve got the first few books from the Warlands, Shielders, and Eternal Guardians that I still need to read. I have the CI Wilson’s on the wish list. I didn’t know about the others, but they sound good, too.
I don’t read much fantasy, but I do like it. My favorite high fantasy series is Michelle Franklin’s Haanta. I just realized that most fantasy that I’ve read is m/m. How odd! LOL Now Urban Fantasy, there are a ton of those that I love Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, Jeaniene Frost, Linda Poitevin, Laura Kaye (her ones based on Greek mythology), Karen Marie Moning (both), Darynda Jones…so many more.
As to Sci-Fi, I love Aubrie Dionne’s New Dawn series, Pippa Jay’s Keir series, Autumn Dawn’s Spark series, Lanette Curington’s StarKissed (single book), Gena Showalter’s Alien Huntress, and any of Linnea Sinclair’s, and for heat and fun I like Lauren Dohner’s and Eve Langlais’ cyborgs and aliens. 😉 If you can handle YA, then you really must read Illuminaie (its a bit of something different in its formatting) and also Beth Revis’ Across the Universe trio.
oh yes…you can never go wrong with Curran and Kate right? I do love the plot lines for Brides of Kindred. I love Jeaniene Frost…she is wonderful. I do want to read Patricia Briggs soon. I like Karen Marie Moning’s PNR highlander series. But I had issues with her Fever series. But I did love the world building she did in that one. i have read Lauren Dohner’s sci fi series…those are fun. I haven’t read much of Eve Langlais Sci fi reads…only one but her humor rocks right??!! Not big into YA to be honest but sometimes I get in the mood for it so I will have to try out Illiminaie. I will definitely have to try out some of the other Sci fi authors you listed though. I am always on the lookout for more sci fi romance. Have you read the warlands yet? You would love it. Especially the first book. I can’t count the times I have read Warprize hehe
Haven’t read Warprize yet, but I do have it after it was recommended to me by a GoodReads buddy.
I have only read The Kate Daniels series in this list and I only started this last year and it was amazing!! I’m excited for more books. I do need to read more books in the genre though!
Oh yippeee!! I think you would love many of these!!
I haven’t read any of these! While I do absolutely like Fantasy, and sometimes I enjoy Sci -Fi, I never read adult books in those genres. I tend to stick with YA books. I have no idea why. I’m glad you have read an loved some though.
Yeah I am complete opposite of you….I never read YA haha I stick with Adult only. I do love having these elements in a story though.
I love these posts! My TBR list thanks you hehehe 😉 I’ve only read the Kate Daniels series, will have to look into the rest!
haha oh goody!!! You would love some of the others.
I have only read the Kate Daniels series, I will have to go research some of your recommendations. Thanks!
oh Kate and Curran are pretty wonderful. I think you would really like some of the others…especially C.L. Wilson and Elizabeth Vaughan.
Warlands for the win!
I’ve read some urban fantasy, fantasy and paranormal romances over the years, but very little sci-fi. Sci-fi romance is a genre I want to breach out in a bit more, I found a fun YA sci-fi romance series lately and I definitely want to read more in that genre. The Shielder series sounds good, I’ll look up that one. These are all new to me series, except the Kate Daniels one. I have read the first book in that series and thought it was a bit meh, but I heard from lots of people that the second book is better, so who knows I might continue the series eventually.
Kate Daniels! Yes, of course! I have Warrior’s Woman on my wishlist already, so maybe I should bump that up. This is a great list.
I love Kate Daniels! I’m halfway through the most recent release and it has become one of my all-time favorites. I haven’t read any of the other series though Warrior’s Woman, Tairen Soul, and Eternal Guardians are on my wishlist. Have you read any of Linnea Sinclair’s sci-fi romances? My favorite is Games of Command and I think you would really enjoy it.
Love, love, love Kate Daniels! I am shocked that I haven’t read any of your other picks. I will have to check out Catherine Spangler since this is the first that I have heard of this series. Great post!
