Reading Habits Tag

by | Apr 18, 2022 | Book Tag, Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 4 comments

I am sure that I have explored this book tag before, but it has been years since I think I have done one here, and I saw Tiffany from “Tiff Talks Pages” do one that features this tag and it was so fun to watch so I really wanted to do one and share a refresher and share some of my reading habits, and feel free to join in on this one here.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Not really, I normally keep to my room. I share a condo with a couple of other girls, but I have the master suite, so I have plenty of space, and normally I just cozy up in my bed most times but sometimes I will read in my office chair as well. On occasion, I will go out to the living room if I know my roommates aren’t going to be home as I don’t like to be bothered when reading.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I will choose a bookmark or piece of swag. I have a drawer full of these types of swag which I consider bookmarks, that I have been sent from authors or received at book events.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

Yes I can just stop reading, normally it’s not based from chapter to chapter, normally it’s when it’s at a slower moment of the book and not in the middle of an intense group of scenes.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Sometimes. I used to eat a ton while reading, now it’s normally if I am reading while I eat, then its with an audiobook unless I am physically reading a book I can’t put down. But I tend to like to watch booktube if I am eating.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

YES! So I actually love listening to music while I am reading actually. I have a set of music that I use for the vibe of reading. I have a well-rounded reading playlist that I have used for years. But I also recently discovered Dark Academia and Ambient Worlds (it’s a youtube channel that mixes movie soundtracks with ASMR and its perfect especially if I am reading paranormal or romantic suspense)

6. Reading at home or everywhere?

EVERYWHERE!! I am always reading. I always have my kindle oasis and my phone on me. So if I am driving and things, I am listening to an audiobook and I just have my kindle for when I am at work or standing in line at the store and such

7. One book at a time or several at once?

Several, I am always reading books in various formats. So normally I will have at least an audio and be physically reading one. I rarely will read more than 3 at once If I have a paperback that I am reading, then I will also have a kindle book plus audio. It just depends on my mood and how I am feeling

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

I read silently in my head. I have attempted to read out loud, and I always forget what I just read haha I do much better just silently reading.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I don’t skip pages, but if it’s a super slow read, I will skim the pages. I only read ahead if I am unsure if there is a HEA or if there could be a cliffhanger and I would rather know ahead of time.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I keep my books like new. If I want to comfortably read a book and it is a mass market, I will check my library or just purchase the ebook or if I am in the mood, I will take the time to break the book down so that I don’t break or crack the spine (but it takes a lot of time on that)

11. Do you write in your books?

NOPE!! haha, I may use those stickable tags so that I know where a quote that I liked is, but I don’t highlight or annotate in my books.

12. TAG others

Anyone that wants to!!

What are some of your reading habits? What do you think of the one’s that I shared here? Let me know in the comments below!

I like to read on my bed as well, or on a cozy chair in the living room. I can’t have any noise though, so reading with music or the TV on is a no-go for me. Yes, I’ll eat with my ear pods on if I’m in a book I don’t want to put down. Fun tag, Renee!

Those are great. I like to read in my room or at my desk for the most part.

I will read pretty much anywhere though rarely in my bed and will definitely read any time I have a wait while out and about. I only eat while reading if I’m eating alone at the table and I want to read through the meal. I have a big collection of bookmarks kept in a few places to use when I’m reading paper copies. I try to keep my books looking new, too. Depending on the book if I can have TV or music on with it.

Fun tag and I enjoyed seeing your answers.

this is a fun post! I love reading in bed (always have) and i have a day bed that i will sit on surrounded by pillows to read during the day. I can stop reading anywhere, doesn’t have to be at the end of a chapter. I cannot eat while i read, but i can tune out music and/or the TV if i’m in a room where someone else is watching or listening. only ONE book at a time, i don’t know how you can do multiples! that boggles my mind!
