June 2022: Monthly Recap

by | Jul 2, 2022 | At A Glance | 9 comments

June was a very solid month for me, I had some busier work days, my brother’s wedding and some family happenings so my reading wasn’t quite as much as it was in May however, it was still a super strong month. I have also decided to make a change to the blog, where I will be posting less reviews. Having to review 10-15 books a week on the blog is super time consuming and can be stressful. So I am resorting to one post a day, every once in a while there might be two, but don’t worry I am STILL reviewing every book I read. Just smaller to the point reviews on Goodreads. And my weekly recap’s you will see all the books I will be reading. I hope that this will provide me for more time to interact with you all on social media and your blogs and get as much reading in as I would like. Its crazy how fast this month went by. This month was a big month as it is Pride month and Male Mental Awareness Month! So I hope you were able to pick up some great books if these are important toyou. I personally don’t celebrate or do too much for these and not because I try not to be inclusive in my reading, but as I try to read throughout the whole year and not just focus on it one month a year. But I did read some pretty fantastic diverse reads. So tell me what your plans for July are? I always love July, I am very patriotic so since I live in Utah we have two patriotic types of holidays Independence day and Pioneer day) so lots of fun parades, fireworks, music shows, and some fun BBQ family time planned!

Don’t be fooled.

Don’t make excuses for me.

I am not a good man.

I’ve seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I’ve fought and I’ve survived. I’ve had to.

The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.

I’m here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She’s disappeared. But don’t worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.

Like I said, don’t be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I’m the one front and center.

This one completely met all of my expectations, I absolutely adored everything about this one here. This is an author I want to read more and this book was gritty and raw and real. I really love the journey from the hero especially and why the author wrote his story was so heartfelt!

New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner kicks off a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new trilogy that returns to the world of her beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete MeSay My Name features Jackson Steele, a strong-willed man who goes after what he wants, and Sylvia Brooks, a disciplined woman who’s hard to get—and exactly who Jackson needs.

I never let anyone get too close—but he’s the only man who’s ever made me feel alive.

Meeting Jackson Steele was a shock to my senses. Confident and commanding, he could take charge of any room . . . or any woman. And Jackson wanted me. The mere sight of him took my breath away, and his touch made me break all my rules.

Our bond was immediate, our passion untamed. I wanted to surrender completely to his kiss, but I couldn’t risk his knowing the truth about my past. Yet Jackson carried secrets too, and in our desire we found our escape, pushing our boundaries as far as they could go.

Learning to trust is never easy. In my mind, I knew I should run. But in my heart, I never felt a fire this strong—and it could either save me or scorch me forever.

I adored this whole trilogy, it was so amazing, J. Kenner is such an author that sweeps away. I just love her writing style and how addicting her books are. I just wanted so much for this couple, and it delivered 100%

For Regan Penhaligon, there’s no better place to run to than the exclusive Ardnoch Estate in the remote Scottish Highlands. Her impulsive behavior has finally caught up with her and Regan’s visit with her sister, Robyn, is an opportunity to hide from someone who has grown dangerously obsessed with her.

Determined to make amends for her mistakes, Regan plans to repair her relationship with Robyn by staying close. And when an offer of help comes from Thane Adair, Regan gratefully accepts.

Widower, Thane, needs a new nanny housekeeper for his two young children and when they bond with Regan Penhaligon, he offers her the job. But as the weeks pass and the complex American reveals who she really is, Thane struggles with his growing attraction to her.

Regan never expected to feel so intensely for Thane, but she can’t deny her passion for him or her love for his children. When someone from Thane’s past threatens his family, Regan wants to be his pillar of support. However, his continued inability to trust her might just destroy their chance at future happiness… and the person who drove Regan to Ardnoch might snuff out her chance for any future at all.

This mafia romance was fantastic and had such an atmospheric style of mafia. I was instantly captivated by this one and the unique facets of the characters that delivered. I just adored every moment of this one here. And very curious to see what she does with this series.

Double holiday in Utah – nice. What sort of things do you do for Pioneer day? I am intrigued. You read a whole lot. I could never keep that pace.

Yes Samantha, so Pioneers Day is where Utah commemorates when the LDS pioneers arrived to Utah and we do fireworks and there is a balloon festival and a popular parade in Salt Lake City called “Days of 47′” Some people dress up as pioneers (I don’t because those dresses are super hot in the end of July haha)

That’s a lot of be posting so I can understand not having the time to read that many books each week. I usually read 3 books a week. Sometimes more if I have time. We are getting a few fireworks and setting them off here near home with my grandson.

I honestly don’t know how you read 10 to 15 books a week when I barely reach that reading goal for a month LOL

I like your idea for consolidating your posts to save time and listing the extra book reviews each week. Sounds like you have some fun festivals and activities to look forward to. Way to go on your total reads and it looks like you really enjoyed most of them.

As always, I am in awe of the sheer amount you read. I average about 10 books a month, which is fine with me, but if I had more time I would love to read even more. 🙂 I loved Fight for Me, and the entire Arrowood Brothers series. Corinne Michaels is such a favorite. I read Without You last year I think and it was angsty but good. The Meghan Quinn series was wonderful. I’m listening to Kulti on audio right now and I’m enjoying it even though I’m not connecting to it as much as I did with the previous Zapata books I’ve read. I’ve not read Crownover’s Point series but I happen to be reading her latest right now, which is tied to that series. It’s called The Best Bad Things.
