Welcome to another feature with the Elite Romance of 2023. Elite Romance is a yearly feature that I run on this blog, that showcases all of our favorite reads for the year. This is a feature that I look forward to each and every year! Its such a blast to put together and reflect on past year for my reading and what made the most impression.
Today our topic is the BEST writing that I read this year. I actually was able to pick up some fantastic reads that had some powerful penmenship to it. So let me show you the books that made the biggest impression for me and tell me all of your FAVORITES for this too!
An author that pulls you immediately in. She has such beautiful atmospheric style, but also combines it with such captivating emotion that you can’t help but be drawn to the endearing characters she writes.
Rebecca Zanetti is taking the romantic thriller by storm! I had such a blast with this one. The plot was so well developed and she writes the best chemistry even when its in the backdrop of the story.
Katy Evans is a classic author to love. And I can’t tell you how much I miss her writing and hope that she comes back eventually. She just has such a fun writing style for contemporary romance that is so different from most these days.
Sam Mariano is the author that if you need a deeply complex dark romance or bully romance to read, she is your goto. This book was pretty normal for the romance involved, but this author just writes the best stories that are so different and gravitates you towards the characters.
Lisa Renee Jones is an author who has some of the most addictive writing style. I love how easy this author can pull me into a story and love the way she builds her plots especially for suspense. If you are looking for a contemporary suspense author that has really addictive writing, this should be a author to try out.
Elizabeth Vaughan is one of the most underrated authors for fantasy. I just adore her work and she has such unique style of fantasy. Its epic fantasy and so well developed and loved the craftiness of her plots.
If you are looking for a refreshing voice in historical romance that has the classic style of the genre but not the modernistic take….this author is a must read. Her books are just so wonderful and her heroines are gold.
What a fascinating author to read. I just love this author but her older books especially are some of the most addictive books she has ever written. If you don’t mind something bananas in the plot but need a story to immediately pull you in…you gotta pick this one up.
Aja James is probably the most underrated paranormal fantasy author I have ever read. I rarely see anyone talk about her hardly and her books are superb. If you are into romantasy or want a spicy fantasy….look no further than these books. Her plots are so complex, she writing beautiful representation of diversity that blends so well with the story.
If you need an author that writes beautiful character growth, I can’t recommend Mile High or Right Move enough. She writes the best characters that just endear you so quickly.
This series is probably some of the best I have read by this author and I hope one day I can find the original covers. I really had a blast with these books, how she builds the atmosphere and the plot complexity is just right.
If you need a great winter novella to get you through, this one needs to be on your list. The writing is sexy and charming and just a great romance. I love how this author just endears you so quickly.
I discovered SEP this year and I have adored her writing style. Its so different from anything else I have read especially for a romantic comedy. It has a class vibe, sassy heroines that are so likeable and humor that just touches you perfectly.
Nicole Fiorina is a true queen in how she writes a story. In fact the writing is FLAWLESS!! It is the type of writing that you need to take your time with as she really builds such depth and balanced stories.
This author writes such descriptive settings. Its the type of writing and plot that are slowly built. Don’t expect a quick and easy mafia romance. Her writing is so meticulous and hits just right.
It’s been a while since I read an SEP book. So happy to see younger audiences enjoying her work. I know some of the references are a bit dated, but her stories are great.
I haven’t read most of these authors yet. I do really like Zanetti and have some of the others on my tbr.
I so agree about Cowles. She tells a beautiful story in a way that is so readable and hard to put down.
