In New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s gripping new novel, a young woman comes home to reclaim her life—even as a murderer plots to end it. . .
It’s been ten years since Sasha Keaton left her West Virginia hometown . . . since she escaped the twisted serial killer known as the Groom. Returning to help run her family inn means being whole again, except for one missing piece. The piece that falls into place when Sasha’s threatened—and FBI agent Cole Landis vows to protect her the way he couldn’t a decade ago.
First one woman disappears; then another, and all the while, disturbing calling cards are left for the sole survivor of the Groom’s reign of terror. Cole’s never forgiven himself for not being there when Sasha was taken, but he intends to make up for it now . . . because under the quirky sexiness Cole first fell for is a steely strength that only makes him love Sasha more.
But someone is watching. Waiting. And Sasha’s first mistake could be her last.
Till Death is a stand alone novel by a fabulous YA and Adult author, from what I have read from this author so far, she can do no wrong. I have been very curious about this one especially in seeing how this author would handle a romantic suspense and it was simply fabulous in every way. I have only read her contemporaries and I will admit that I do feel a bit nervous when an author you love switches genres but boy she WON my heart completely with this story and it went so differently from what I was expecting.
Till Death features Sasha Keaton who left her hometown for ten years after she was a victim yet also the only survivor of a serial killer and rapist and that time in her life still haunts her and she ran away from everyone she knew including the man she loved….Cole Landis. But now Sasha is returning back home, ready to face her demons and find peace in her life again. But the moment she returns, its almost as if there is someone out to get her and it brings back all the haunting memories back to her. But what she didn’t expect was to find Cole eager and waiting for her, and even though she hurt him deeply, he is there steady and strong. But someone is out to kill her and it appears they have a copy cat killer and now she will have to face her demons and confront her fears but with Cole by her side, Sasha finds her courage to gear up for the battle ahead of her, because this killer is someone she would never expect ….
There were two types of death. Actual death, like the kind this poor woman had suffered, where the body and soul and everything was gone. Then there was the second kind of death—where the soul was stripped away, but the body continued on, going day to day, just existing in a shell of what once was.
Till Death is such an impactful story and I fell so hard for this one and I am so happy that I chose this book for the Romance-opoly reading challenge. This is definitely going to be a pick of the year type of read. I have been on a romantic suspense binge of late, and Till Death was a perfect story to revel in that binge and take such pleasure in such a story that fills you with such sensations from beginning to end. I know that there is always a concern, if you are a romance reader such as myself, where the suspense will outway the romance or vice versa even. Well I can tell you with this book that is just NOT the case at all. This author truly found such balance in the suspense plot with the thriller and mystery elements with a beautifully formed romance.
Now lets talk romance…this story had such a intricate placed love story with one of the most beautiful endings you can ever imagine. Cole and Sasha fell in love ten years previous, and their love story was halted when a serial killer was on the loose around the town and neither of them imagined their love would be torn apart because of it. But both Cole and Sasha had the strength to persevere for ten years, never losing that love they had for each other and now they are back together and determined not to let it happen twice, to fight for each other. We see such fear at times especially from Sasha, but also strength and courage to fight against that fear and not let it come between her and Cole. I just admired her so much in this story because we see her will of iron, and even though she is tormented, she doesn’t let it defeat her. Cole is such a strong hero in this book and I adored him in every way. He is such a rock. Cole is now a FBI agent, and is more than capable of protecting her, but its so much more for Cole because he never stopped loving Sasha and never forgot her or let the pain of losing her turn him bitter against her. I love how he is so open, protective and caring towards her.
People don’t get second chances often, Sasha, but we got one, and I’m not going to let that pass us by
The story is balanced between the romance the suspense filled plot. And from the first chapter, you feel the tension, the fear and anxiety and the chills, and it only builds as the plot builds more into its complexity of a serial killer who is after Sasha and won’t give up until she is dead. Even though you sense the thrills, the excitement, the danger of this build up; another beautiful aspect is seeing the courage, the strength, the grit and determination to continue fighting and never stop fighting for those you love. We see this in every chapter that bleeds into the reader’s heart. Its a story that will stun you into its simple moments of clarity and vivid emotional portrayal of the human heart….Til Death is a story that teaches you to live and the strength to always keep trying and never giving up on the dream of love and a happy ending! PHENOMENAL IN EVERY WAY!
