You thought their story was over… but a love like theirs has no end.

Fate doesn’t own Jake McKallister. At least, that’s what he tells himself. Life is better than ever. He’s at the top of his game, performing to sold-out crowds the world over. He has his health and a solid, fun-loving family to keep him grounded.

And he got the girl - the beautiful, quirky girl he’s just made his wife.

Yes, life is good. If only fate would stop screaming in his ear.

Lucky is the best word for Casey McKallister. She has an awesome support system, a nerd’s dream job at a prestigious accounting firm, and best of all, she’s married to the hottest rock star to ever roam the earth.

Yes, life is perfect… until it all comes crashing down around her.

They say love conquers all. That’s what Jake and Casey are counting on.

Cake: The Newlyweds is a continuation of the first book Cake. Now I did skip ahead a few books because I really wanted to read this one so badly here. I fell in love with Jake and Casey. It starts out with seeing our two lovebirds enjoying being newly married and all twitter patted. For Jake and Casey, life couldn’t be better. Jake is busy with his tours, and Casey has a great job that she is loving . We see them get married and go on a delicious honeymoon. But as life starts to settle down for the both of them, disaster strikes and grief overtakes them and our pair will need to learn to rely their love to get them through the tough times.

I have to say that even though there are some tough issues that are introduced into this story, it was more hilarious than book one and that one was pretty funny at times. But here, oh my goodness, I laughed out loud at work so many times they probably thought I was crazy loco. From Jake’s father scaring him on the eve before his wedding about the honeybee queen making her mates testicles explode (pretty sure that is probably a true fact), to Jake scaring his bride to be on their wedding day to their niece and nephew scaring them enough to think twice about having kids….just another day at the office right? But seriously this book totally had me laughing pretty much every chapter. I just couldn’t get enough. And yes it was a delight to see that Casey is the “boss” of the pair. She has Jake wrapped around her finger and played jokes on him all the time and it was so fun to see them after their HEA, dealing with hardship but also enjoying each other too.

About J. Bengtsson

J. Bengtsson lives in Southern California with her husband and three children. She wrote Cake for fun after she'd read a really bad rock star romance.

J. never told anyone she was writing Cake and had no intention of sharing the story but after she'd finished writing it, and falling in love with the characters, she couldn't help but be curious if someone else out there might enjoy Jake and Casey as much as she did.

Still, it took a couple of months debating with herself, before J. finally got up the courage to self-publish the story. She was shocked when it took off almost immediately, spreading by word of mouth alone. Her unsuspecting family was dumbfounded upon learning the truth nearly a month later. They were even more in awe to discover that the book had actually become a hit.

Since then J. has embarked on a new path in life and has begun writing full time. She published The Theory Of Second Best (book two in the Cake series) in January 2017 and Fiercely Emma (book three in the Cake series) in July 2017.

She is incredibly thankful to all the Cake lovers out there who embraced Jake and Casey in the same way she had all those months before.

Book two and three of the Cake series are focused on the siblings of the McKallister family (no one escaped the crime unscathed) and books one and four will follow Jake and Casey.
