"I've done far worse than what I went to prison for. She has no idea how bad this can get."

Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was.
But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan.
And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this.
He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.
First thing's first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.
Step two... Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor.
But that's not what's coming.
No, it's time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It's time I showed them all--my family, her family, my friends--that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.
Starting with her.
She'll be so scared, she won't even be safe in her own head by the time I'm done with her. And the best part is I won't have to break into her home to do it.
As the new man of the house I have all the keys.
*Kill Switch is a romantic suspense suitable for readers 18+. It is advised to read Corrupt (Devil's Night #1) and Hideaway (Devil's Night #2) prior to reading this book. Both are available on Kindle Unlimited.

Kill Switch is the third book in the “Devil’s Night” series and one of the most darkest of installments in the series. I was highly apprehensive in reading this one, but I was encourage by fellow romance readers I trust that it would be a winner. So I decided to take a chance upon this one here, and I will be honest in that I wasn’t sure how I would fare with this one here. And I will be honest that Kill Switch was a highly challenging read and it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It involves certain aspects that are extremely difficult to read in some ways and probably why it took me so long to read it. Even though I adored the previous books in the series, I think this is the darkest of them so far. Now this series is so well written in how it crafts certain elements, and I truly admire the way that Penelope Douglas has written these books. But I struggled with the hero being married and while I don’t mind revenge sub plots, It was done differently than I expected. But there was also a higher focus on flashbacks and when I say flashbacks I mean a TON of them, that it was quite distracting and took away some of my enjoyment of the story. I will say that the latter half of the story was wonderful and so endearingly sweet. Once our pair got their issues out of the way, It truly was the sweetest fruit seeing them truly together.

Overall I found Kill Switch to be a thrilling, edgy romance that offers plenty of mystery and intrigue that will delights its readers.

  1. I usually enjoy dark romance and the content rarely bothers me. But I don’t really care for bully/revenge plots so that would probably make me steer clear of this one. I’m glad the second half of the book really paid off, though! I can forgive a lot when I’m happy with the ending. 🙂

  2. I read her Bully series a while back, but never got to these books. I’m not sure this would be my cup of tea. If it had a good ending maybe? Yeah, flashbacks can really drag down pace. Sorry to hear this didn’t knock your socks off.
