At Clean Slate Ranch, the men are rugged, the trails are rocky and lassos aren’t only used for roping horses

For Colt Woods, Clean Slate Ranch is home. The dude ranch in Northern California helped him heal from a devastating breakup. So when his ex-Dom, the man who broke his heart, waltzes onto the ranch, Colt doesn’t know how to deal.

A research job at a nearby ghost town brings history PhD Avery Hendrix to Clean Slate. He’s not in town forever, but it doesn’t take long for him to feel the familiar draw to Colt. When they find out they’ll be sharing a cabin on the ranch, it’s all Avery can do to stop himself from bending Colt over a saddle right then and there.

In such close proximity, Colt’s and Avery’s old feelings come galloping back. Soon Colt is doing his master’s bidding again and loving every moment of it. And the pair may be in for the ride of their lives—if the dedicated professor and his rugged cowboy can learn to trust again.

Roped In is the second book in the Clean Slate Ranch series. I was going to grab book one first, but this book was only .99 cents on Amazon, so I decided to try out Colt and Avery’s book first. Now I do want to put out there that this book does have some BDSM elements in it, so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, even though I don’t read too much kink, I will say that I was really impressed with how well it was written. This story isn’t a linear story, because we see some flashbacks since this is a second chance romance. Our story is about Avery and Colt. It begins with a wedding, where Colt is with the only family he calls his. But when his ex of five years walks through the door, Colt doesn’t know how to handle being around Avery again. They have a painful past. Their story started out as a simple S&M relationship. But soon their hearts became involved in the relationship. And now they are faced with each other after so long and Colt and Avery decide to begin again and try out a long distance relationship.

I was really fascinated by this book from page one, and boy this author….she knows how to make you UGLY CRY and when you least expect it too. I honestly didn’t see it coming, and she works your emotions so well. I was swept off my feet by Roped In, this story was so romantic and delivers on all the feels for sure!! We have some complexity issues that both Avery and Colt have to face up especially where their families are involved and boy seeing them both handle these issues was heartbreaking but also had a “cleansing” feel to them. Avery was raised by his aunt but he does call her “mom” and his mother has never been comfortable with him being gay, but lives the BDSM lifestyle as a Dom and his step father as her Sub. So we see how Avery has to set his mother straight on who he is and that its not a lifestyle as BDSM is. Then we switch to Colt, who hasn’t seen his family for years, because his parents didn’t agree/support him being gay and just left and hasn’t spoken to them ever since. But we see the raw and beautiful emotions that come when reconnecting with your family and mending those bridges that have been broken in the past.

This story is heartfelt in every way you can imagine….its hot and leaves you bothered. Its a tale of redemption, forgiveness and the healing power of love and finding the strength to be with someone who has brought you pain in the past….A STORY TO FILL YOU WITH FEELS!!

About A.M. Arthur

No stranger to the writing world, A.M. Arthur has been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long. She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance wasn't a thing yet) with her later discovery of and subsequent affair with m/m romance stories. When not writing, she can be found in her kitchen, pretending she's an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments.
