About The Book
Maccus Fury, a fallen angel, is trying hard to keep his sanity. Seems being an assassin might be catching up with him. Now, Heaven, or Hell, has sent a beautiful assassin to kill him. Lovely. She’s pretending to seduce him, and he’s okay with that. She’s smart and snarky – but she has no idea what she’s walked into. And he’s more than peeved that they only sent one person. They’re going to need an army if they want him dead.
Morrigan Quill is one of Hell’s bounty hunters. She sold her soul to keep her sister safe, and now she’s working off her contract by catching bad guys and dragging them back to hell. When Lucifer makes her a new offer – that’s definitely too good to be true – she can’t say no. All she has to do is kill a powerful and crazy-hot fallen angel, who will totally kick her ass in battle.
Good thing he won’t see what’s coming next.
“I never had a good thing before…”
“…Until now.”
My Review
First Impressions
Fury Unleashed is a story that completely blew me away and my expectations of this book went out the window on this one. I have heard so many great things about this one here and I have had this book on my kindle for quite a while now and yes I was first drawn to this book due to the cover and I am in love with it. This cover is a work of art especially with it being a self-published work so bravo to this author. But the story inside is just as powerful as the cover evokes. I read this in less than two hours!! A 400 pages book….well let me tell you, that means I truly loved it. This is a kick-ass romance that won my heart and is the type of enemies to lovers type of setup that worked for me completely and you all probably know by now how picky I am about that trope and it doesn’t always work for me, but my heart was won over within the first two chapters. I do term this a mythological fantasy though, not a UF or a PNR at all, and those that read this will know what I mean by that. But I was impressed with this book as a whole and can’t wait to delve more into this author’s writing.
He might believe he was all darkness, but she saw the good in him, the honor.
Summary
The story sets off with our hero, who is an assassin and a fallen angel and has been in both the worlds of heaven and hell and survived and created his own talents to survive. But then the archangel Gabriel who he once called friend, calls upon him to kill a demon bounty hunter, and then he will have his wings again. But Maccus isn’t going to take Gabriel’s word for it, he goes out to investigate this mysterious woman that he is to kill. Our badass bounty hunter, Morrigan, has no choice in what she does. She sealed a deal with Lucifer to save her sister and is contracted with him to do his demands. But he offers her a deal, kill Maccus, and she will be free from him. But when Maccus comes to her aid, Maccus and Morrigan realize that their meeting is no coincidence nor is they both being contracted to kill each other by the heads of the individual parties of heaven and hell. Both Maccus and Morrigan have explosive chemistry and instantly act upon their desire for each other, but despite the passion, there is something deeper surfacing between them and they are determined to get to the bottom of the subplots against them. But will Morrigan and Maccus find a way out of this challenging conflict or will they have no choice but abandon the love they have for each other….
What I Loved
Fury Unleashed is a story that bowled me over in all of the best of ways. I was so swept away by this romance and it worked for me in so many ways. First off the characters were so tangible and breathed new life in this reader. I was so invested behind both Maccus and Morrigan just on an individual level. Maccus you can tell has been through the extremes with losing his wings and having to develop certain abilities as he was forced into hell and had to learn to survive. And then we have Morrigan, who traded herself in the contract for the life of her sister. While she can be badass, she has these sweet vulnerabilities that made her seem so relatable. The relationship between Morrigan and Maccus is explosive from the beginning, but I also respected that they were more curious about each other and were intelligent enough to realize that there was much more going on than just a contract for them to kill each other. They just didn’t take these higher beings at their word. And when it came down to it, they were willing to show the depth of their love for each other and what commitment is displayed in this story. I just ate it all up and just wanted more. This romance was such an intricately layered story that offers depths and surprises along the way that you won’t be disappointed with.
What I Struggled With
Hardly anything….there were a LOT of sex scenes though. So might not work for everyone.
Overall View
Fury Unleashed was a story of sacrifice, inner depths of transformation of character, and an explorative journey into the realm of love and desire that will capture the reader’s attention in an unforgettable way!

About The Author
Once upon a time N.J. had the idea that she would like to quit her job at the bookstore, sell everything she owned, leave her hometown, and write romance novels in a place where no one knew her. And she did. Two years later, she went back to the bookstore and her hometown and settled in for another seven years.
One day she gave notice at her job on a Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon, she received a tentative acceptance for her first erotic romance novel and life would never be the same.
N.J. Walters is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.
It does sound like a powerful read. I’ve seen it around and the cover was what stuck with me, but glad to know the content is just as fabulous.
I have been wanting to try this author for some time now. I agree the cover is awesome.
400pages in less than two hours??? I would have taken 8 hours LOL! But I confess that I feel for the cover too!
