Gabrielle Boudreaux, the youngest of the Boudreaux clan, is a single mother of her young son, Sam. Running a Bed and Breakfast at the family plantation house at the edge of the Mississippi River, Gabby loves her inn, her boy and her family. She meets new people every day, and takes pride in the house and land that has been in her family for more than five generations. Blessed beyond measure, she’s also lonely, although she would never admit that to anyone. Until Rhys O’Shaughnessy walks through her door, brooding and wounded and the sexiest thing she’s ever laid eyes on.

Rhys has been at the top of his game as a major league pitcher for the Chicago Cubs for more than ten years. Baseball is in his blood. But when he tears his rotator cuff and has to sit a season out, he retreats to Inn Boudreaux at the recommendation of his cousin, Kate, to heal and work toward building his shoulder back to perfect shape with only one goal in mind: to return to the game he loves. But he didn’t plan on being utterly charmed by a devastatingly beautiful woman and her baseball-loving son.

When Rhys’ shoulder has healed and he’s given the chance to return to his team, will he leave the family he’s come to love behind, or will he stay with Gabby and Sam?

Easy Charm is the second in the wonderful Bordeaux family in the spicy area of New Orleans, our story takes a different setting in a refurbished hotel that features an olden day Southern mansion and slave cottages that brings new life to this romance….

What a whopper of a story, and I just didn’t want to put this one down in any way. Easy Charm takes us to a different setting than the city of New Orleans. The setting is close to the city but out a ways to offer a different feel to the story. I truly adored this book, especially in having quite a bit of love for all three characters.

So drumroll while I introduce these lovely people:

  • Gabrielle Boudreaux, our heroine of the story, she runs an inn that features a refurbished plantation house that has been in their family for generations. She has a young son that she has had to raise on her own.
  • Sam, son to Gabrielle, a charmer, adores baseball and is always on the lookout for a new adventure
  • Rhys O’Shaughnessy, our gorgeous and fun hero, carefree and laid back, a famous pro baseball player, injured and looking to recover and Gabby’s inn seems perfect.

Gabby is such a loving mother and is completely devoted to her son. When she was just a teenager, she found out she was pregnant and her boyfriend wanted her to abort it. But Gabby could never do that and was shocked that a boy she loved would be so cruel to her. So Gabby decides to raise her son all on her own and with the loving support of her family, she does so. She knows that it will be a hard road, but so worth it. Now her son is seven years old, always getting into mischief, but Gabby and Sam adore each other. When Rhys comes to stay with them for a few weeks, sparks fly between the three. Sam adores Rhys and seeing these two together is so wonderful, they will just make you smile so MUCH!!! Then we have the chemistry between Gabby and Rhys, which is pretty powerful. Now Gabby is pretty lonely and has been for years, but we see what a strong bond they have together. Rhys is such an honorable hero as well. I just adored him so much especially in his manners toward Gabby and Sam. I like that he isn’t your typical playboy/manwhore sports player. He isn’t afraid of commitment or hard work when it comes to making a relationship work and he does that for Gabby and Sam.

I love you, Gabby. You’re every hope, every dream I’ve ever had, and I didn’t even know it until I met you. No matter what happens in our life, every day I get to be with you is the greatest day of my life.

The only downside to this story is a portion of the last part of the book (I won’t spoil, I promise) but I didn’t care for how Gabby reacts and how she doesn’t trust Rhys more. It really broke my heart to see them struggle through this hurdle, that didn’t need to be such a hurdle if only open and honest communication had been involved. However despite my issue with this, and even though I understood why she would have an issue, it was a bit too over the top for my liking. But I will say that this book ROCKS despite my issues, so pick this series up, you will have fun I promise!! A truly heartfelt journey of sacrifice, love and a determination that conquers all!!

About Kristen Proby

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.
