Everyone knows Megan and Cashol hit it off the moment they resonated… didn’t they?
But when Josie goes into labor, an off-hand comment makes Megan point out to her friend that no, things weren’t always so smooth.
Just because resonance is immediate doesn’t mean it’s immediately perfect.

But also…just because it’s an instant bond doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Sometimes it’s very, very right.

Barbarian’s Treasure is one of the more recent additions to the Ice Planet Barbarian series and I have to say that I have deeply loved this series. It has been such a blast. Now they have their own style and these books might not be for everyone but they are just great short snippets of romance of a world that is without distraction and is the perfect way to escape reality and enter this world of sexy strong protective males and women who capture their hearts. I know that this author can be intimidating to read at times because she writes SO fast, it does help her books are shorter than the norm but I am working my way through her books because they are entertaining and fun.

Barbarian’s Treasure features our two main characters in:

  • Cashol-Blue horned ice planet alien, not the most attractive of the males, but has a beautiful smile
  • Megan-Quiet, reserved, mourning the loss of a forced abortion, fears being tossed out of tribe

Barbarian’s Treasure was such a delight to read in, and I am loving these books in audio. These narrators actually do such a wonderful job in showcasing them so well. Now the male voice -Mason Lloyd you have to be careful not to go too fast, with these narrators I try to stay at 1.5 speed and no faster because his voice will sound different and it can be distracting. So that is my recommendation if you listen to these books.

Barbarian’s Treasure is Cashol and Megan’s book. Now, this does have a flashback story-based line, so be aware going into this one here. Cashol and Megan’s relationship always seemed to be a textbook case and no one in the tribe ever suspected that their story wasn’t easy, it was always assumed their bond was easy and smooth. But when Megan’s friend is going through labor for a new baby, Megan recalls for her friend their REAL story, the one left untold. Megan was part one of the original women that was kidnapped from Earth and crash-landed on the ice planet. But she was pregnant when she was kidnapped and the aliens that kidnapped them didn’t like that and forced an abortion on her. And she is still mourning the loss of her child. But she also fears being kicked out of the tribe. She sees how some of the women are treated by some members of the tribe and wants to be useful and always working so hard to prove herself. When her qui and Cashol’s qui sing together, she feels a sense of relief that if she can have a baby, she will have a set place in the tribe. Cashol however is told by his tribe leader, that he must take it slow with Megan. There is a HUGE lack of miscommunication and leads to hurt and mistrust on both sides. Cashol and Megan will have to learn to be transparent with each other, their expectations and hopes for each other but it’s not an easy road to let go of misconceptions and fears…

But I want a mate who smiles at me with her eyes and tells me her thoughts, not a mate who tells me that she is fine and her eyes are full of worry

Barbarian’s Treasure is one of the more heartfelt books of the whole series. My heart just ached for Megan especially. She has lost so much and I didn’t really like so many members in the tribe in this book. I wanted to shake them all in how they treated Megan. Like really, she works so hard and gets easily taken advantage of. Now Megan is more reserved and keeps so many things to herself. The miscommunication that happened between Cashol and Megan….easily solved in a five-minute conversation haha but I actually felt like this misstep in their relationship was pretty sensible. I mean they both are from different cultures and have internal doubts about themselves so it makes sense they would have some hills to travel before they could get to their HEA. The best moment is when Megan has an emotional breakdown and everything comes out in the open. It was such a tender poignant moment and how much Cashol cares for Megan. The way these males are with their mates is so beautiful. They are willing to do anything to just make them smile. It is SO precious to see. They are so devoted to their mates and it’s one of the main factors why I am so drawn into these books. And plus….they are sci fi romance and there just aren’t enough books in this genre, right?

Cashol smiles and brushes a lock of hair back from my face. “You are my treasure, worth more than all the mah-nee in your world.”

Overall I found Barbarian’s Treasure to be a true delight and almost made it to five-star status for me. It’s a story of sweet love, complete devotion and the true challenges in making a relationship work and matter in the long run.
