Choose the one guy you can’t have . . .
As captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas—the hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her neighbors; problem is, she’s in danger of stumbling into love with Mr. Right for Anybody But Her.
Fall for him—hard . . .
Pub owner Finn O’Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze. But when a freak accident involving darts (don’t ask) leads to shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast.
And then tell him the truth.
Pru only wants Finn to be happy; it’s what she wishes for at the historic fountain that’s supposed to grant her heart’s desire. But wanting him for herself is a different story—because Pru’s been keeping a secret that could change everything. . . .

My Review Updated

Summary

Prudence is a San Francisco Bay Tour Host captain and she can handle just about any tough situation until she meets the one man she could fall head over heels for….Finn O’Riley. Even though he seems to be the perfect man, she knows that there is one circumstance in which they can never be together. Their past are intertwined and she is in trouble where Finn is concerned. In a terrible accident when Pru has turned eighteen, her parents were killed, but they were the ones being reckless while driving, and cost many lives and harm. Pru has been doing everything in her power to try to give back what she can to do that one accident effected. The O’Riley brothers lost their father, and Pru was the way that they could establish their Irish pub although they have no clue that it was she that contributed to it. Finn is proud of what the pub has turned into, its making money and paving the way for security for both himself and his brother. Finn is too busy to be concerned with fun or flirting until Pru walks into his life. Both Pru and Finn begin a relationship, dating and slowly falling in love. But Prudence has a terrible secret that could be their downfall if she waits too long to reveal the full truth to Finn.

Plot and Story Line

In Sweet Little Lies we have a story of secrets, of fun and mystery and overcoming the dark emotions of the past to find joy and contentment for the present and future. Jill Shalvis did a wonderful job with this book, and I had some good times with this one. I do like this author, just recently started to pick her up and I loved the setting here. Close the coastline of San Francisco, we see a romance blossom between Finn and Pru. Now these two have some serious sparks with each other, from the very first chapter you can feel it. Finn is Mr. Serious and workaholic, and Prudence enjoys her job, but she also likes to live life and give back what she can to others. I love her kind and giving nature. Even though part of it is due to guilt, its also because she is a warm and loving person who desires to help those that need it. The only issue I had with her is how long it took her to tell Finn the truth. I mean honestly….it took her quite a long time and there were some moments where I wanted to really shake her, because keeping secrets like this doesn’t end very good!! Finn has his own issues especially where it concerns his late father and his brother. Finn has had to be responsible, its not like its what he dreamed of doing. He was wild and fun when he was younger, but his fathers death and having to care for his brother changed his life. I truly adored Finn and he makes such a solid hero. He is trustworthy, honest and loyal. He tends to let anger get the best of him sometimes which can cause arguments that don’t need to happen. But such a character needs to have some flaws right? The romance is sweet and charming, not too in depth in serious emotion which was refreshing at times. There were some fantastic side characters including the hilarious next door neighbor who tended to be bold in what she was thinking and wasn’t ashamed including of what she thought of Finn’s body!! hehe she was a riot, that is for sure. I wouldn’t mind having a neighbor like that though 🙂 keep life interesting. But as a overall read it was enjoyable and fun and looking forward to more from these group of friends.

The Cover

Such a cute and flirty cover…I love the setting on the beach and quite the sexy pose!! I love the male’s arms—-all that toned muscle. 🙂

Overall View

Sweet Little Lies is a cute and sweet story that brings together friendship, laughter and love!! ENDEARING!

OMG! I keep seeing this book everywhere! It’s Shalvis first book with Avon, so the Avon publicists are really pushing it. Not that I’m complaining! I have a widget sitting in my inbox and a paperback copy in my mailbox at home. I think this book probably isn’t steamy enough for me (ha!) but it seems lovely in terms of the story and romance. I do love the name Finn. 😉

Wonderful review! So glad you enjoyed this book. =)

Pru got on my nerves a bit just because she had so many chances to tell him and just wouldn’t. That being said, that neighbor–CRACKED ME UP! 🙂

Now that’s an interesting situation with her plans and how cool that she’s a ship captain. Yeah, the hiding stuff just never works out. They do sound good together.

So glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I got a copy of review, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I’ll have to fit i into my reading schedule soon! I didn’t realize Pru was a captain, sounds fun! Not a fan of the secret plot lines in romances usually, but I do like Jill Shalvis her writing style, so i hope I’ll still enjoy this one. The setting sounds nice! And I like how you describe Pru, she sounds like a great character even though she keeps the secret too long. Great review!

I wanted to shake Pru, too! But I’m glad that Finn was very mature and things got resolved very quickly. That neighbor was awesome and I hope to read more about her in the following books.
