Get ready for the darker and dirtier side of New Orleans with a brand new alpha romance from USA Today bestselling author Meghan March.
New Orleans belongs to me. You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t. My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met. I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt. To have her in my debt. She doesn’t know she caught my attention. She should’ve been more careful. I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her. It’s time to collect what I’m owed. Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.
*Ruthless King is book 1 of the Mount Trilogy. Mount and Keira’s story is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2017 with Defiant Queen and Sinful Empire.*
I had some pretty high expectations for Ruthless King. The blurb alone would have drawn me into this story, but I also know many fellow bloggers that adore this author. So I opened this book up and even though I liked this story for the most part it had some issues that I wasn’t expecting. Now I like a good romance, and yes some good smexy loving, I am always down for. However I felt like this story had way too much in it. In fact I felt like the story…that was the whole focus. Now I understand that when you are doing a trilogy with one main couple, that this can happen, but I was really wanting more “romance” in this story than actually was delivered. I am intrigued by this couple though. Both characters are so different from each other. Our heroine is innocent and a bit naive at times, but she was sheltered so its understandable but I do like that she is curious and willing to try anything. Our hero is typical alpha male, controls the underground and isn’t one you want to cross. What I really was impressed with in this book, was how the heroine stands up to the hero constantly. I just loved that. Especially with how naive she can be at times, she makes up for it in stubborness and courage. She stands on her own when she needs to and doesn’t let Lachlan run over her all the time. I also loved the strong chemistry between the two and the mystery behind Lachlan. I am pretty eager to see more of him and find out who he really is in future books. I do want to point out that this has a cliffhanger. And boy it really was a doozy!! But thankfully we don’t have to wait too long between books. So even though this book won’t be put on my top list for the year, I did enjoy it and I am looking forward to books 2 and 3 when they become available over the next couple of months.
that’s great that you’ll have the next ones soon!
I’m planning to read this book. Already bought it but i’m waiting until the series is complete before jumping in. I love the sound of it. Awesome review, my friend. I get your issues. ???❤️
