Life on his ranch could be their future. If they can overcome their past.
Felicity’s life story reads like the script to a bad soap opera. Girl’s high-school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend’s funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to start fresh. She’s got a long list of amends to make and relationships to rebuild, including one with the man who has owned her heart for sixteen years.
Silas doesn’t need much. He’s got a great horse, close friends and the Lucky Heart ranch, but something has always been missing. He’s not an idiot. He knows the missing piece is Felicity. And now that she’s returned to Prescott, he’s got a second chance to win her heart. This time, the only thing standing in his way is history. Drudging up the past is going to be about as painful as playing tug of war with barbed wire. But if they can heal old wounds, he’ll get the girl he should have had all along.
The Lucky Heart is the third book in the Jamison Valley series and also another treasured find in the Audible Romance Package. I dearly love the narrators that this author chose for these books, especially Ava Erickson, her voice is truly wonderful for these books and I love the way she just pulls you into these books. The Lucky Heart features Silas and Felicity. I will admit I approached this book with lots of apprehension because the heroine is a character I truly despised in book one because she was so mean however what really convinced me was seeing that sweet sexy Silas was the hero whom I have really adored in the previous two books and was curious to see how this author would redeem Felicity.
Felicity’s high school boyfriend became hooked on Meth which she blames herself for over a stupid mistake and has born the guilt of what he did with his life and the fact that he is now dead. After breaking up with her boyfriend because of his addiction, her interests soon changed to sweet Silas but she abandons the boy she loved over fear and shame and leaves Jamison Valley and heads to Seattle where she creates a new life for herself. But now she has returned home, its been close to two years and she is permanently closing ties in Seattle and starting fresh in the town she grew up in. She knows that she was the “mean girl” and wants to make amends for how she treated others. She knows that it won’t be an easy road, but she is ready to put her shame and guilt aside to be the person she is underneath that she has hidden away all of these years.
Felicity’s Journey Home, as I deemed this new chapter in my life, wasn’t just about relocating back to my small hometown of Prescott, Montana. It was about making amends. It was about setting aside my mask and revealing the real me. For too long, I had hidden behind layers of false confidence and snide comments. I had disguised my vulnerabilities and insecurities with “attitude”. It was time to do better. Be nicer.
It was time to show people that I had changed.
Silas has always loved Felicity but when his best friend got to her first, he had no choice but to respect her choices. But when she leaves him with no word, he goes to serve in the military like he had planned and returns home to work on his father’s ranch and eventually take over. And the woman he has always loved is back in town and he questions why she is back and if he could ever win her heart. There is drama with his family, the town’s people are full of gossips, and there is a woman in danger and a love to be rekindled.
I found The Lucky Heart to be an astounding read and I loved it way more than I thought that I would. Felicity grew on me, once you see her past and the mistakes she made, and see the person she really is and not the one she lets people see and the efforts she makes with those that she wronged, you gain a respect for her especially in seeing how difficult it is but she is able to make genuine friendships and reconnect with her brother and her mother. She has made great strides in settling in Jamison Valley and being with the man she loves. She is still grieving some over her high school boyfriend who was murdered because of his drug addiction but we see how much she is working on moving on and making a fresh start for herself and for Silas. We see how determined she is to be with Silas and not let anything or anyone stand between them.
Now that she was back in Montana, I wasn’t letting her go. I’d play it slow and steady. Put in the time. But one day she’d be mine.
Just like she was always meant to be.
We have some conflicts with Silas’ father who doesn’t approve of their relationship but boy Felicity really proves her colors in this book because she doesn’t let how cruel is father can be at times to discourage her too much. And what I really loved was seeing how honest she is with Silas about what is going on. She knows that honesty is the only way their relationship will really work out. Silas has his own fears that he has to overcome because he was once betrayed by Felicity but is willing to fight for her and what they have together. They resolve their issues pretty early in the story which I enjoyed, and seeing them work together to overcome outside issues was so captivating and I got a kick of them reconnecting and seeing these two have their second chance at their HEA. Their romance is so delectable and so explosive at times. I wouldn’t call the heat in this book to be super hot or anything but really sexy.
We also get hints at who the pair will be in the next book and I can’t wait to listen to that one for sure because I have a feeling it will be really intense. This author keeps shocking me in little and big ways, I swear I never know when something big is going to really happen and them BAM—you are on the edge of your seat. I have come to appreciate the level of dynamics and twists that Devney Perry brings to her stories and I am becoming hooked on this charming small town with its imperfect characters who win your heart!!
Overall I found The Lucky Heart to be a story of true redemption, healing and the strength that true love brings….PHENOMENAL!!
