About The Book
There’s only one way to tame a dragon.
Emma Arroyo knows this. She also knows that the big golden dragon captured by her brother’s biker gang is in trouble, and it’s all her fault. He followed her scent, and now his life is in danger.
She has to fix this, somehow. If she could talk to the dragon, they could form a plan to escape, both of them. But the dragon’s mind is wild and full of uncontrollable, killing rage. There’s no reasoning with him. There’s certainly no freeing him, not when he’s like this. But Emma can’t leave without him.
There’s only one way to solve this problem – a mating. When Emma approaches Zohr to claim him as hers, she realizes just what it means to be a dragon’s mate, and how much she’s in over her head…
And she learns how fiercely possessive a drakoni male can be.
My Review
First Impressions
Fire In His Embrace was a book that kicks booty y’all. I absolutely adored everything about this book. I am not sure why I took so long reading this one especially when the ending of the second installment, leads into this book. I was really impressed with how Ruby Dixon wrote this book and seeing this unique pairing just blossom right before the witness of the reader. I do have a soft spot for a heroine who is the rescuer in the story, and she was such a strong feminine character that I felt I could relate to. She has a vibrant strength that vibrates throughout the story. Our hero has his own strengths but also unique vulnerabilities that will endear you further to him. They both have a quirky sense of humor and understand each other. They are have more in common than they first initially think beforehand. It was such a fun relationship that really blend the angst of this world building, with some sassy banter, and a plot to keep you on your toes.
Summary
This story sets off with our heroine Emma Arroyo, while hiding in a gas station, where she has created her own haven, is taken by her brother and his group of bandits. She and her brother parted ways years ago and for good reason. Her brother isn’t a good person, but she feels like she doesn’t have a choice. She ends up living with them, and being the cook for the leader who also happens to be a dragon, but one who has evil plans for them all. They use her without her knowledge, of being bait and capturing a live dragon who they keep chained in the basement of their refuge. But what Emma doesn’t expect is to form a bond to her dragon, who was captured because of her. But she knows if they can form their mating bond, they can help each other escape. What Emma doesn’t realize is how formidable their enemy is, or how fierce the connection she would form to Zohr. Zohr is determined to protect his mate no matter the cost. He knows they have an enemy and he has no memory of his past, but he believes in what he and Emma is beyond real and is determined to cultivate their bond. But they both have a enemy, who seeks to capture all dragonkin for his own purposes and may be their downfall…
I kind of have to laugh at the mental image we present as I wheel him down the road, looking for a suitable hideout. I’m in a bra and panties and combat boots, wheeling an unconscious man down a deserted street. Life in the After is definitely never boring.’
What I Loved
Fire In His Embrace is such a sexy time book and you know what you get when you pick up Ruby Dixon. But I have to say the more I read this series the more impressed I am by it. I was utterly charmed by this story and everything that this author delivers here. I couldn’t seem to get enough of this one, and it was such a fast paced listen for me. I didn’t seem to want to put this one down at all. It was utterly decadent seeing how this romance forms between Zohr and Emma. They are such a perfectly blended pairing as well. They both understand each other, both warriors and both have the same quirks of humor that others don’t completely understand. I truly adored both Zohr and Emma. Zohr is a alpha but in the way he wants to protect his mate, but also encourages her in her own fighting abilities. I love the way he wants her as his partner. Emma is fierce but also has a sweet vulnerability that will allow the reader to connect so easily to her. This pairing was a delight and we also get another piece to the puzzle on the overall reaching plot of the series. I am so intrigued to see what is in the past of these dragons and what our villain has in store moving forward.
What I Struggled With
Even though this wasn’t a top read, I definitely felt like there could have been more couple time between these two. I do think this story was too short and I know Ruby Dixon doesn’t write super long books, but I definitely felt like there could have been more inner relationship development than what was received.
The Narration
These two are the best at narrating this book and I have really loved see them do this series together. They both have such likeable voice but especially Jeremy York does a fantastic job as he has that deep baritone tone in his voice that just works so well for a dragon hero.
Overall View
Fire In His Embrace was a delectable read that I couldn’t seem to read fast enough, its a story with such thrills that are blended in with a firmly build romance that only had me eager for more in the world. Ruby Dixon definitely worked her magic with this one here.

Steam Level
Simmering cup of tea—soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin’ by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin’ up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.
About The Author
Ruby Dixon is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She likes fated mates, baby-filled epilogues, and cinnamon roll heroes. She also likes to write biographies of herself in the third person, because it feels more important that way.
Ruby also loves coffee and dirty books and will probably be a cat lady at some point. 🙂
York’s voice is dee-lish! I probably would complain about not getting enough time with the couple too, but you’re right, RD doesn’t write long books. But her books are always worth it. I’ve read a few and enjoyed the heck out of them and am glad you enjoyed this one 🙂 Great honest review, luv! xo
I’ve never read a dragon romance s that’s pretty different. But I love the whole possessive alpha thing. 🙂
