Humphrey Wescott, Earl of Riverdale, has died, leaving behind a fortune and a scandalous secret that will forever alter the lives of his family—sending one daughter on a journey of self-discovery…
With her parents’ marriage declared bigamous, Camille Westcott is now illegitimate and without a title. Looking to eschew the trappings of her old life, she leaves London to teach at the Bath orphanage where her newly discovered half-sister lived. But even as she settles in, she must sit for a portrait commissioned by her grandmother and endure an artist who riles her every nerve.
An art teacher at the orphanage that was once his home, Joel Cunningham has been hired to paint the portrait of the haughty new teacher. But as Camille poses for Joel, their mutual contempt soon turns to desire. And it is only the bond between them that will allow them to weather the rough storm that lies ahead…
Why I am LUSTING After Someone To Hold?
I noticed this cover on Netgalley….and I knew I had to pick it for this weeks L4C!!! Because wow….can I trade places with her? First off, her dress is amazing here!! So elegant and pretty and her pose is so graceful….I don’t know if I could ever be that graceful, maybe one day. What a beautiful landscape with the swans and the lake and bridge. Reminds me of a scene I saw when I was in Bath, England.
Mary Balogh’s books always seem to have such beautiful covers. This matches what book one had for a description of Camille quite well. Can’t wait to read it!
oh I know….especially the more recent ones!!! I love the scenery they have done but this one I think is my favorite out of them all. I also can’t wait to pick it up.
The setting/landscape is gorgeous here!!
OH yes….They did so great on the art for the cover!! It just makes you want to do a mary poppins routine and jump right into the cover.
Lovely cover! 😀
that is lovely isnt it?
Oh yeah, this one and the cover from book one are gorgeous. I had to grab this one, too.
Can’t wait to see your thoughts, it’s such a pretty cover!
I love her covers–they are so classic, simple, yet beautiful 🙂
