For disgraced physician Kim Sharpe, Fire Creek was supposed to be a sanctuary, a place to hide from media scrutiny and the public eye. But when a group of wolf shifters break into her clinic and demand she save the life of a packmate, her serene world unravels. And when the wolf dies despite Kim's efforts, she's dragged into a hunt she can't control, led by a man she desperately wants to understand.
All shifters live with their beasts, but Chris "Brick" Preston's is dangerously close to the surface. And it wants Kim. Sex keeps the beast sated for now, but unless Kim can help him find a more permanent solution, Brick risks becoming a feral, banished—or put down—by his pack.
With each incredibly intense encounter, Brick and Kim grow closer. But time is not on their side. When Kim is faced with betraying the pack in order to save Brick's life, the consequences may be more than they can survive.
Taming Her Wolf was a truly wonderful story and I was so surprised in how much I got caught up in this story. It sets off when our heroine of the story, Kim Sharpe a doctor and has scandal all over her name, and has accepted the only job that would take her, a southern country clinic, In Fire Creek. Her clinic gets broken into, and she is forced to help a injured young man, a man that turns into something supernatural…a creature she never knew could exist. She is teamed up with “Brick” Preston, who is a shifter. What was most unique about this set up was that these “wolves” aren’t your average shifter. They are a combination of three…man, wolf and beast. The wolf can come out whenever the man lets him. The beast is only allowed to come out under the full moon, once a month. But Brick is having trouble with the shilds containing his beast, and if he and Kiim don’t figure out a solution, Brick may go rogue, and then his pack will be forced to either isolate him completely or kill him. I truly enjoyed this scenario. Brick is so great, he is having trouble but he never gives up. He doesn’t want to become rogue. He still has honor and integrity and is a fighter. Kim was a heroine I had to learn to like. I had some issues with her, she is deceitful at times and doesn’t always think through her actions. She is impulsive and selfish, but she does come around. She is talented, and kind and we see her change into a woman willing to sacrifice and to prove that she is different. Overall Dee Carney sweeps the reader off their feet with passion…mystery…suspense.

Jude Deveraux touches the heart with this captivating novel of unexpected passion, adventure, and second chances.
Lost Lady
Forsaken by her guardian and narrowly escaping marriage to a money-hungry suitor, Regan flees Weston Manor, the only home she's ever known, determined to rule her own destiny. When Travis Stanford, a big, rugged American, finds Regan on London's docks, he vows to protect her -- unaware of the magnificent, iron-willed beauty she would become, or the dangerous, passion-filled future that awaited them both. From England's bawdy wharves to Virginia's elegant mansions, their love was kindled by chance, and flamed by the thrilling pursuit of unknown tomorrows.
Lost Lady is the second boko in the Lady Trilogy, but the first book to read of this trilogy. There was no rhyme or reason that I picked this book up, I just wanted to read more of this author and this seemed like a good fit for me. The heroine of the story is very naive and innocent in the beginning. She has pretty much been imprisoned because of her fortune. Her uncle has been behind it because he will stop at nothing to gain access to the money she will have. But when she overhears her fiancee and her uncle talking about her and none of it is complimentary, she confronts them, and they force her out of the house with nothing but her nightgown on. She ends up in the docks and stumbles across Travis. He takes control and sees her fed, clothed and seduces her until he realizes that she is a virgin and not some dockside whore he picked up. Travis and Regan are at odds except for the desire they have for each other. They cross the sea all the way to Virginia and end up falling in love despite what keeps them apart at times. This is a story that reminded me of those older romances that won my heart. It has some characters that are very amusing and I loved the bantering, the shoe throwing and the hint of danger these two face. We see Regan grow from a naive girl into a confident woman who fights her own battles and for love. Its not your typical romance, a bit predictable but engaging and heartwarming at times. I just need to read the other two books because his young brother is a hoot, and his closest friend is a rascal.
The first one looks good, it’s been a while since I read about a wolf shifter experiencing the full moon ! The second looks nice enough, but the “hoot” and the “rascal” look more appealing to me ^^ Great reviews, Renee 🙂
Not sure I’d like Kim in Taming Her Wolf but the shifter premise is different and interesting. I might give that series a try.
Aaaaand gonna have check out Carney. I’ve not seen her before I don’t think. The heroine sounds a spot difficult but that she grew and became a better woman? Totally makes me want to give her a chance 😀
