From the New York Times bestselling author who brought you the Lords of the Underworld comes a dark, seductive new series featuring angels poised on the brink of destruction....

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless-and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions, at any cost...until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation-or her ultimate damnation?

Wicked Nights is a story I found on the shelf of my local library, and even though I am WAY behind on her other connection series “Lords of the Underwold” I just knew that this is a book I would enjoy, and yeah I had some good times with this one. Its a bit different from anything I have read, however, it has the same delicious story telling feels that only Showalter creates in her stories and yes we get some fun times with some of our favorites from the LOTU series. So that was pretty fun to see for sure. Its not an easy story to read however, it definitely filled with drama, adventure, kick ass action and mysteries to be solves as well as love in the clouds and on the run.

Our delightful story begins when our heroine, Annabelle, witnesses her parents being murdered by a demon who desires her. The authorities and her own brother believe that she is guilty. She has spent year in a mental hosiital, not having any choices and being abused by certain doctors that take advantage of her. But Annabelle never gives up on the “prince in her dreams” or being able to find a way to free herself. But during a demon attack, she is saved by a fierce angel warrior. Zacharel is on the verge of losing his wings if he doesn’t learn some compassion for humans. And as his punishment, he has a group of warriors that are the line that protects the heavens. There is a war coming on the horizon, and Zacharel and his angel’s might be the only one’s able to defeat the demons. But the woman who is exasperating, puts him on edge but also amuses him….is a woman that he is intrigued and for the first time he is feeling desire. But will the woman he learns to love be a woman he might not be able to have in the end unless he is willing to fight for her….

WHAT a book!! My goodness, why why did I take so long to pick this book here. I will say that the minute I started reading this book, I was really into it. This is one of the things that I ADORE about Gena Showalter, her writing is so engaging and sexy that you can’t help but want to immerse yourself, and it was so easy to do in Wicked Nights . I really adored Zacharel and Annabelle together. They were so wonderful together, and yeah the smexy parts were delightful. I did enjoy their bantering and seeing how different their personalities are but somehow they are just perfect for each other. They both are taught some great lessons in this book and I really loved seeing that. We are introduced to some fun characters in this book, and I can’t wait to see more of them in the next books in the series.

“You are beyond frustrating,” she grumbled. “Why can’t you do what I ask you to do without issuing a million questions first?”

“I could say the same of you.”

“I don’t–Argh.” She raised a fist at him. “So maybe I do ask a lot of questions. So what. Anyone in my position would do the same. Besides, I’m a girl and that’s my job. You’re a boy. You’re supposed to pound your chest with your fists and grunt, then do everything in your power to please me.”

“Hardly. The man you just described is more likely to knock you over the head with a club and drag you away by the hair.”

There are some fun dynamics that come into play with this book and it was quite fun to see them being delivered in such a charming way. I loved the light hearted feel that balances out the suspense and thrill part of the plot. The plot itself, could be pretty intense at times and there is some mystery around Annabelle. Because she is being hunted by demons and boy are they determined to have her at all costs. And we see her begin to change and grow more into herself. We see how she begins to recover from the abuse she was dealt in the Asylum, and see her kick ass and stand by her man. These two are so true to each other and to themselves.

It shall be my pleasure to remedy it. First, it is not your strength or your speed that draws me. It’s your…everything. Your laugh, your wit, your emotions and the way they change. Your courage, your sweetness, your near obsessive delight in cookies. Second, you are indeed a prize. You’ve made me want what no one else ever had. A communion of bodies.

From beginning to end I was sucked into this delightful romance that was packed with giggles and wow’ing moments, a story line that will keep you on the edge of your seat and a love story to give you the tingles all over….TRULY A KEEPER!
