Weekly Recap (Week 47) Romanceopoly Makes a Comeback

by | Nov 20, 2022 | Sunday Post | 10 comments

So this week has been so interesting. I can’t believe that we are more than halfway through November, where has the month gone already?? The weather is getting colder but not much snow unfortunately. We are starting to get toward the end of the year. Goodreads released the choice awards, and somehow not shocked by the reveals. Its a popularity contest, not necessarily the best romance of the year. But I was pleased to see a Katee Robert and Jessie Mihalik on there. But I learned something big about a reading challenge that was super popular a few years back and I wondered if it would ever come back. Well, there was a video this week released by “Under The Covers” book blog, that they are bringing back “Romanceopoly”. I am so so excited and they have updated all the graphics and it looks so amazing. So I have been spending the weekend just getting my TBR in order for it. So I didn’t get as many books read this week as I would have liked but I had so much fun getting this all this Romanceopoly put together. If you want to check it out click HERE I will do a full post though with more information on it and my plans for 2023 for it!

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week November 13th through November 19th

This was still a solid week of reading, even if I spent a few days working on the Romanceopoly things. But I still got some great books read despite that, although most of the books I read were 500 pages or more so it evens out. Hopefully, I can make up for it more this upcoming week.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

Book Read-Wild Lands by Stacey Marie Brownd–Rating 4 Stars–I really enjoyed the continuation of the Savage Lands series, this UF world is so fascinating and I have really fallen in love with the world building on it. The story itself was so solid, still a bit low steam but the relationship is building more and some serial plot is starting to come together.

Book Read-Dead Lands by Stacey Marie Brown—Rating 4 Stars—I just adored book three in the series. It had some more reveals concerning our heroine and her psychic abilities and the bond between her and the hero and much more heavy on the steam levels, so that was a plus. I am very intrigued in seeing where the author is taking this one here.

Book Read-Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley—Rating 5 Stars—This book was so amazing, but its a older KA so what do you expect? I just adored this story so much. And I really enjoyed the “ghost” aspect of the story and the second chance that is delivered. Such an emotional and vivid romance that I couldn’t put it down.

Book Read-The Heir by Sophie Lark—Rating 4 Stars—This was such an interesting one. I can see why so many readers love the Kingmakers series. The world building is fasciniating and love the set up of it. Even though I wish there was more couple page time, I loved seeing a mafia romance being a friends to lovers set up, that is so rare in that theme.

Book Read-Black Knight by Rina Kent—-Rating 4.5 Stars—This was such a great addition to the series and I really loved getting their book and seeing it all get resolved. Lots of angst though because its still a bully romance, but lots of depth and chemistry to it.

Book Listened-Red on the River by Christine Feehan—Rating 3.5 Stars—I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first one. This one was much easy to get into, but I listened to this one so that might have made the difference. At first I thought that there would be more romance but honestly yeah there wasn’t much of it. But it is a romantic thriller, and the romance is in the background. It actually felt like a mix of thriller and women’s fiction. There was much more focus on the female friendships. I really wanted so much more in the romance though, it just felt lacking and like there was something important missing. But I loved the set up of the story. I do recommend the narration, super well done!

Book read-God of Wrath by Rina Kent—-Rating 5 Stars—This wasn’t part of my TBR, but a new release I didn’t take into account for. I was so in love with this one here. It was AMAZING. But fair warning it was SUPER dark. Probably one of the darkest romances I have ever read, the hero is literally a psychopath but the author made it work and redeemed the author in the end for me. I swear her writing is like romance crack haha I can’t get enough of it.

Book Listened-All Is Bright by RaeAnne Thayne—Rating 4 Stars—Such a sweet endearing Christmas romance. It was super atmospheric with disability rep being delivered so well. I just adore this author and her books just are a work of art!

Current Reads

My Current Audiobook is Love Language by Emma Hart. I really adore this author and her rom com’s, they are so flirty and fun and really liking the narrator so far. I haven’t been in the mood for this Kandi Steiner, so I am not sure if I will keep going with this, but will give it till 40% and decide if I want to keep going. I am so thrilled to get into some sci fi with the Anna Hackett. These books are so full of adventure, magic and thrills. I have lately been in the mood to pick up Carnal, the last book ended with a cliffhanger featuring this couple. And its been a while since I have read a erotic romance, and I love the style in which Beth Kery writes, it has such a classy feel to it.

Book Releases I am Excited For

The Best Intentions by Sarah Eden

Bastard Boss by Lisa Renee Jones

Ruthless Reign by Aleatha Romig

Ice Storm by Tracy Goodwin

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, I have a blend of library reads, some KU and an ARC. I have some exciting books here that I am really looking forward to here. I did get the audio for both Autumn Lover and Goblin King so I am looking forward to those. I am excited to pick up the ARC from Zanetti, I really adored the first book. And its been a while since I read a fun historical, so eager for the Lynsay Sands.

We got a bunch of snow. You can have some of ours if you want! 🙂 But honestly I do like it, it’s so pretty. We had a winter storm and the roads were bad but now it’s all calm and peaceful.

I haven’t checked out the Goodreads nominees yet but nice to see Jessie Mihalik represented. I liked the book by her I read.

I’m so glad that romanceopoly is back but I know I probably won’t do it. I never do well with challenges. Its like the second I have something specific to read, I have NO desire to read it.

Not sure what Romanceopoly is but I look forward to seeing your post. I loved that RaeAnne Thayne and I agree her covers are like a work of art. I’m usually disappointed by the GRs choice awards. They are a popularity contest not necessarily the best in category. I was bummed they didn’t list Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews in the fantasy section. I’m reading listening to a Lynsay Sands Argeneau series right now and loving it. Haven’t read one of her historicals yet.
