Weekly Recap (Week 45) Bring On Harvest November

by | Nov 6, 2022 | Sunday Post | 11 comments

I hope you all had a fun Halloween to celebrate! It was a very low key day for me, but got to watch the latest Passionflix film and read some spooky reads. We did get some snow though which was really nice, and I have been in the mood to go skiing. I haven’t been in a few years, but I am thinking I might go this season as I have really missed it. (and yeah that trilogy by Bowen, Yarros and Perry have Nothing to do with it haha). I had a super strong week of blogging though and have been working on at least posting every single day and commenting and being more involved on Goodreads. I am excited because I am getting a five-day vacation starting this upcoming friday, so I am going to have a fun weekend! I might just go up to Park City, get some shopping in and some skiing in if the powder is good. But will also spend a couple days reading a lot. I am trying to finish the year strong and see how much I can get in, I am hoping for around 450 by the end of the year.

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week October 30th through November 5th

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

Book Read-Deviant King by Rina Kent—Rating 4 Stars—I swear Rina Kent is becoming a romance reading crack haha Like Man I can’t get enough. In Deviant King we get the beginning of the story between Aiden King and Elsa. This is a bully YA romance. And yeah I read some YA and don’t ask me how that is happening haha but Rina Kent is making it work for me, most likely because they feel much more mature than your average teenagers.

Book Read-Steel Princess by Rina Kent—Rating 4.5 Stars—Steel Princess is where we get the connections with the heroine and we get some secrets revealed and the heroine turns into a bit of a badass and makes the hero work for it.

Book Read-Twisted Kingdom by Rina Kent—Rating 4.5 Stars—Now this book just made everything that we go through with these characters in the first two books worth it. There is such an intensity between these two, and we get some family secrets as well as seeing why there is such a deep connection between these two. A beautiful finale!

Audio Book Listened-Desire The Night by Amanda Ashley–Rating 3.5 Stars—This one was not as enjoyable as I had expected it to be but I still felt like it was a solid read. However, the heroine ruined this book. She was spineless and it was super obvious and it wasn’t with the hero. Nope she is good standing on her own with him, but when it came to her fiancee or her father, she cowered and just said yes to everything they insisted on.

Book Read-Gothikana by RuNyx-–4.5 Stars—This was my first RuNyx novel and I adored it. And wow the GOTHIC FEELS on this one. It was super atmospheric. Honestly I can’t recommend this one enough, if you love gothic romance, you need this book in your life.

Book Read-The Dark Affair by Maire Claremont–4 Stars—Such a solid read of a historical and its been a long time since I breezed so quickly through an historical romance and I loveld it. It wasn’t what I was expecting though. Not very much of a gothic romance read, but I did like that it focused on recovery from grief and addiction.

Book Read-The Lotus Palace by Jeannie Lin–4 Stars—What a wonderful story this ended up being. I have had this author on my list for at least a decade at this point haha I really liked this one, it had a strong mystery and was set in China and I really enjoyed how well the setting and culture was pictured in the story. The author did a wonderful job with it.

Book Read-Tattered Stars by Catherine Cowles—Rating 4.25 Stars—I really enjoyed this one, and I was immediately hooked into the story. I can definitely see why so many are enjoying this author. It definitely felt similar to Jennifer Ryan, so if you haven’t read this author and enjoy Jennifer Ryan, then you definitely will enjoy this author.

Audio Book Listened-Finding It by Cora Carmack—Rating 3.5 Stars—I had a fun time with this one. It was different then what I expected. I do wish it had been finalized, as it left a lot of ties open at the end but the ending there really shocked me so Carmack really did a surprise for me that I just didn’t expected. I did this both in audio and ebook (the audio ran out as it was due for the library so I had to get the kindle book and finished it that way).

Current Reads

My Current Audiobook is “The Hero” by Donna Grant. I absolutely adore this author and love her contemporary books so I am really wanting this one, and it looks so patriotic, I love it. Then I am delving into a dark romance with “Trojan Crown” mostly likely has an age gap, I do know the hero has a child though. Then I will be finishing the series by Sierra Simone with “Door of Bruises” and I am so ready for it. I have adored the depths and gothic complexities of this series. Then I will be doing something a bit lighter with “B&E Ever After” with Linda Kage. I haven’t read that much New Adult this year and eager for some more. Then a inspirational closed door romance with Huckleberry Spring. I am so ready for this one. I can’t wait for this one. I have enjoyed this series so much and I just can’t seem to get enough of this author’s voice. Although I am kinda wanting to get back to Rina Kent, today so we shall see what I do haha

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, I have a blend of library reads, some KU and an ARC. I also discovered a new author “Stacey Marie Brown” and the world building of Savage Lands sounds so fascinating, and I am ready for it! I did do a random grab of the KA. I saw a bookstagrammer rave about Three Wishes and I was like, lets see how she handles a genie romance. And I was given the ARC of the newest D.B. Reynolds. I was thrilled at seeing this one, because it feels like forever since a new one came out.

Favorite Book of the Week

If you are looking for a great spooky gothic romance, then you HAVE to read this treasure!!! It was amazing!

New Additions to A&R

Savage Lands by Stacey Marie Brown

Painted Scars by Neva Alta

King of Shadows by Amelia Wilde

I hope you enjoy your week off, and that the snow cooperates so you get out there on the slopes. 450 is a massive amount of books. You go! I read that Carmack book back before I wrote things down on GR. I can’t say I remember it, but I always enjoyed Carmack’s books.

Hope you enjoy your week off! I love Park City. It’s such a cute town and pretty area. 450 books?! Wow, that’s amazing! I’m looking forward to The Princess and the Player too. Glad it’s KU read and listen for free. I enjoyed Cowles. Her story reminded me a lot of Devney Perry.
