Weekly Recap (Week 30) Got Hooked into Re Reads & Coloring

by | Jul 24, 2022 | Sunday Post | 10 comments

Happenings of Week 30 of 2022

This week has been a whirlwind and where on earth did the week go, because I swear it feels like yesterday was last Sunday. So I stuck to part of my TBR for the first couple of days and then I got hooked into doing some historical re-reads this week. I have become part of this new Discord group (if you love historical romance, let me know and I can send you the link for it because it’s such a positive happy group). I have been picking up some old favorite historical romances and it’s making me realize how much I really love this genre. Also, I have been getting back into adult coloring again, I know it’s been a long while, and I am not sure why I haven’t kept up with it, especially with the issues concerning my anxiety and blood pressure I have had this year. But its been really fun so far. And I am excited to get back to books again and it’s great because I can listen to audiobooks while I color. The type of coloring I do does take longer though as I don’t do base coloring haha but I really love working with blending techniques and building color on the page.

Bookish Posts & Books Read of Week July 17 through July 23

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads)

Book Read-Her Dragon Daddy by Roxie Ray—I read this one last night and it was entertaining. Not the Best dragon romance, but very intriguing and it had the style of secret baby trope I actually like.

Book Re-Read-Tempt Me At Twilight by Lisa Kleypas—-I was in a mood when I picked this up and just needed this type of story. I just loved the marriage of convenience set up and the grovel was so perfect.

Book Re-Read-The Bride by Julie Garwood-I had to listen to this on audio, because I realized I really miss Rosalyn Landor having a Scottish Accent and I have been seeing my group re read her books and loving them, and I just had to do a re-listen and its been over a decade since I have read this book and it was fun returning back to it.

Book Read-Come Home To Me by Jessica Scott—I have really been loving this series and wanted to grab up the novella’s in the series. And this one while not my favorite of the series, I felt like there weren’t enough feels in the book, and granted its a novella so it won’t have that but I just felt like something was missing but it was still a solid story. And I really love how authentic these feel for a military lifestyle. And as the author served in the military and is now a military wife, it makes sense that these would have that style of authenticity….but for any of you that have family members in the military lifestyle or live it yourself, let me know if she writes it correctly.

Book Read-Ares by Carly Spade—I adored this book so much, it was such a fun one and the more I read this series, the more I love it and the chemistry actually felt satisfying. The God of War met his match.

Book Read-Anything For You by Jessica Scott—This was such a great novella, as it shows some important scenes that help make “Back To You” more sense.

Book Read-Back To You by Jessica Scott— This book was everything I expected and more, I enjoyed it so dearly. I adore a marriage in trouble and I really loved how determined the hero was in fighting for his marriage and family.

Book Review-Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley

Book Review-My Highland Rogue by Karen Ranney

Weekly Recap (Week 29)

Current Reads

My current Audiobook for the week has been “At The King’s Command” and I got hooked into my re reads this past week so I am still listening to this Susan Wiggs, but I am about 60% and really enjoying it actually. I definitely want to read more Tudor era books. My Jennifer Ryan and Larissa Ione books are due by the end of the week, so I wanted to get those read next and this Kari Lynn Dell is super fun! The chemistry and bantering is just delightful.

Book Releases I Am Excited For

The Return of the Duke by Lorraine Heath

The Rake’s Duke by Anne Gracie

Misfit by Elle Kennedy

Bayou Sweetheart by Lexi Blake

Garnet Flats by Devney Perry

Fire and Rain by Pamela Claire

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for! I am not sure if I will be in the mood for them all, but they all are different sub genres so I do hope to get to them all if my mood works with me on this! I do think its good to have a loose tbr even though at times I tend to be a mood reader! I am trying to work towards going half and half so I have more balance in my reading! This past week I ignored my TBR so I am keeping some of these but some I adjusted. I do wanted to read the Lorraine Heath, I hear its one of her spiciest books and is a bit different, so I am intrigued.

Favorite Book of the Week

There is nothing better than a solid Kristen Ashley and even though this wasn’t my favorite of the series, it was DELICIOUS when I read it and it still had the “classic KA feel” to the writing that sometimes can be missing in her more recently published works.

New Additions to A&R

Always You by Samantha Young

Dark Whisper by Christine Feehan

Out of Love by Ruth Cardello

I love re-reading books! I have never really tried adult coloring books but it sounds like a great activity to keep your hands busy while listening to audiobooks. It looks like you got a lot of reading in this week. I hope that this week is a good one for you.

When you listen to books while you color, I listen to them while I make funko pops 😉

Oh… I tried adult coloring books a while ago, but it never stuck. However, I think the images are so pretty. If you have some completed, will you share them?

I’m currently doing a re-read (listen) of Emerald Blaze before Ruby Fever comes out. I don’t tend to re-read much anymore like I used to. I think I feel guilty because I have so many unread books, and it takes me a long time to read a book. Glad you are enjoying them! I hope you have a great week!

Hey Jen. Yes, I plan on sharing the images of my coloring in my monthly wrap-ups as sometimes a page can take longer than a week to do (but my Instagram stories will have my updated pages on there). I feel the same way about re reading and only every once in a while do I give into it.

I listen to audios while do soooo many chores. It seems like they’re never ending here at the new house, lol! Lucky I enjoy tending to the garden, watering and arranging and re-arranging books, haha! I love doing arty things, so coloring does appeal to me. I’d like to take an painting class or maybe drawing in pastels or something someday.

I enjoyed Dream Spinner, too! Was nice to get old style KA like you said. I want to finish the Jessica Scott books and read Julie Garwood’s historicals. Glad they were a hit, Renee!

I love to color but I found I wasn’t sticking with it when I used physical coloring books. Now I use an app on my iPad and I love it. Funnily enough, my husband is hooked on it, too. 🙂
