Weekly Recap (Week 13) Oral infections aren’t conducive to reading but happy Birthday Vibes

Bookish Posts and Books Read of Week of March 19th through March 25th

This past week has been one of the WORST reading weeks of the year. As I explained a bit last week, I have had a bad oral infection. I got to the dentist Wednesday, and it took a couple of days before the pain started to get better. Friday was the first night I was able to sleep 8 hours, I think for a whole week I was only getting a few hours of sleep per night let alone getting books read haha because dental pain is bad, and nothing I was taking was helping with the pain. So yeah it was pretty bad. I am glad it finally got better as my birthday is today. I am so old at 36, thankfully I know I don’t look my age. I work with lots of young people and most of them don’t believe how old I actually am haha So thats a good thing I guess. But I did get some good ones read this week even if its so sad seeing how many I read haha I had such high hopes to get some great books read this month.

(All my books read and their reviews are on Goodreads, I have linked for you)

List and Link book reviews with ratings and description of opinion via goodreads

Book Read-The Auction by Maggie Cole—Rating 5 Stars—This is the first half of the duology by Maggie Cole. This is different from her mafia books. Its still a dark romance, just different. Its closer to erotic romance than dark romance though. This is mostly BDSM themed but I actually loved it. So well done the first half.

Book Read-The Vow by Maggie Cole–Rating 4 Stars—I really struggled with the second half and it was due to the heroine. Now keep in mind that the hero does make mistakes and has to grovel, but its dragged out throughout the whole book and the heroine was a bit floppy on it. So while I enjoyed it, I didn’t quite love it.

Book Read-The Heiress at Sea by Christi Caldwell—Rating 4 Stars—This book was so endearing and fun! I got this as an ARC but also listened to it a bit, and both versions I recommend, depending on your preference. I found this one to be quite fun. The heroine disguises herself as a boy thinking she is getting on her brother’s shop, but yeah, she gets on the hero’s ship which doesn’t belong to her brother. And when her gender is revealed, it causes some issues. It was just so witty and adventurous.

Book Read-Guardian’s Mate by Jennifer Ashley—Rating 4 Stars—It was so wonderful to return back to the Shifters Unbound world. I had forgotten how much I love this series. I definitely have been neglecting this series and definitely plan on returning to it. In this one we have our heroine who becomes a FEMALE GUARDIAN and boy it causes a scandal in the community and she ends up with this burly grumpy bear shifter haha

Current Reads

So my current audio: Mess Me Up by Lani Lynn Vale I am so excited to return to this series and I found this audio on Hoopla. Then I have Broken with You by J. Kenner and I am really excited for this one because there is something so classic about Kenner’s writing style. I am finally picking up In Isabeau’s Eyes by Lora Leigh can I just say how THRILLED I am that Lora Leigh is back to writing. I just can’t wait! Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann is a book I have seen all over my instragram and booktube feeds for quite some time! Its part of my monthly group read for a dark romance group I am a part of. I know its going to be emotional but I hear its such a beautiful book. Then I gotta balance it out with some historical fun! I haven’t heard much about this Eloisa James, so I am going in completely blind haha

My Weekly TBR

These are books that I have a rough TBR for, I normally don’t like a super strict TBR as I tend to be a mood reader, so I might get to these books but depending on my mood, I might not get to all of them, but I will endeavor to try with these. I have some great books lined up this week! Now I am SO Behind on my romanceopoly books like REALLY BEHIND I have 6 to read this week! So yes hopefully the pain stays away so I can buckle down and get some good books read!

You poor thing! Mouth pain + lack of sleep is a terrible combination. But happy birthday! I hope you have a great day despite the dental issues. And 36 is far from old (spoken from someone who is well beyond her 30’s! lol). Still Beating has been on my TBR for quite a while. Can’t wait to see what you think of it. I love seeing Him… it’s one of my all-time favorites!

Happy Birthday! I hope you have an amazing day and am glad the dentist was able to help with your pain. I think the last time I slept more than 5 hours was in 2004 when I had the flu. Hope you find lots of gems on your TBR

So sorry to hear you’ve been having mouth pain! That’s the worst and it’s hard to focus on anything else. I hope you get it all sorted so that you can sleep and read, of course.

36 is not old at all! You’re only as old as you feel. If you keep in shape and take care of yourself you won’t feel the years so much. With age comes wisdom and confidence you don’t have when you’re younger. Happy birthday, Renee! 🙂

Happy birthday! Although, you are not old. I’ve got you beat. Be glad you don’t look your age — I still get the same thing. It’s a blessing for sure. I’m glad your infection got the help it needed. That doesn’t sound fun at all. No sleep is a killer, too. I really hope you love Him. That’s such a great book/series.
