This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!

What is Throwback Thursday? Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday. 2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2009

The stunning sequel to “The Pride of Lions!”
In a novel that sizzles with passionate intrigue and breathtaking romance, Marsha Canham whisks the reader back to war-torn Scotland as a legendary warrior fights for the two things most precious to any man: his country and the woman he loves.
She was born an Englishwoman, but he made her a Scot, pledged to fight for her beloved husband–even against the country of her birth.
Catherine Ashbrooke Cameron had committed the unpardonable sin of falling in love with her husband–a Scottish spy she married in her English home. Now, as she raced to the Highlands, into the strong, tender arms of Alexander Cameron, the innocent English beauty would learn the passions of war–and the price of love . . . .
He fought to keep her safe as he battled the English enemy–and betrayal from within.
Alexander Cameron was a man with a price on his head and enemies to burn. Love had made the legendary warrior vulnerable. Now he must protect Catherine from the dangers that threatened them both. But as he rode into battle against the English, she refused to stay behind. He had claimed her, touched her, loved her, and she vowed nothing would ever separate them again.

Why The Blood of Roses?

I absolutely loved this book but it’s not your typical historical or a historical romance that some readers would enjoy today. The romance isn’t quite as present as the historical aspect is. I wouldn’t call it historical fiction though. Some of the older historicals were more history-driven than what you find in recent years. But I loved the drama, the history, the epic love romance between these two.

About Marsha Canham

The Robin Hood Trilogy came out of that pristine forest and watching episodes of Richard Greene’s Robin. Love of pirates came from Errol Flynn as Captain Blood. My one and only Western came from my love for the childhood memories spent sitting with the Chief hooting and hollering at the good guys in the white hats and the bad guys in the black hats.

Under the Desert Moon wasn’t written until I had several books under my gun holster. Not because I shied away from writing one, but because I knew the Chief would read it and I knew it had to have every cliche he loved, every element of every show he watched, every black and white hat I could cram into one book that would make HIM remember all those hours we spent together throwing popcorn at the screen. When he passed away, one of the clippings in his wallet was a review by Kathe Robin for Under the Desert Moon, where she said it was the Silverado of Westerns. She got what I was trying to do. And he loved it.

Miss you Chief. Every day.

I really like historical fiction, it’s always interesting reading about a certain time period and learn about historical aspects. I honestly didn’t know about this book (or the previous instalment), but it sounds like one I would enjoy, so I’m noting it down!
