This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!
What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.
The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.
Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.
MOST CONVENIENT MARRIAGE
The breathtakingly handsome Earl of Huntdon is determined to take a bride, and equally determined that his marriage to Miss Georgina Pierce will be a business arrangement only–after all, he has been wounded in love before. But there is unexpected passion in his innocent wife, and he soon begins to look forward to many days–and nights–with her … until he shockingly discovers that her promised fortune has been squandered. Though Georgina rightly protests that she knew nothing of it, Huntingdon is wounded to the core.
Spirited Georgina surprised herself by agreeing to marry the earl–a man she’s just met. The handsome nobleman proposes that she exchange her fortune for his title, but from the moment Georgina first waltzes across the ballroom floor in his arms, she realizes she can easily give this handsome, haunted lord her heart…. But first she must teach him that there is one thing far more important than money and position–and that is love.
Why To Marry An Heiress?
I read this book many books, and was the first regency book I had read from Lorraine Heath and I TRULY loved this arranged marriage. It is one of the most original regency themed romances I have ever read. There is a fortune, and a mystery to be solved that brings this pair together and they begin to really fall in love. Its one of Avon’s romantic treasures and these books are so charming and endearing.
I love the old school covers. I think I’ve read a few books of hers but it was on Kindle and I tend to forget covers when I do that lol I always have to double check Goodreads.
For What It’s Worth
Lorraine Heath is one of my favorite HR authors. I think she’s vastly underrated.
Sounds like such a good book! I just read my first Lorraine Heath book this year – can’t believe it took me so long to discover her!
Oh yes, I can see why you still remember it fondly. Arranged marriages that become love are a favorite HR trope of mine, too.
An arranged marriage and a little bit of mystery too, sounds really good to me!
You know. I don’t think I’ve ever read Lorraine Heath. Isn’t that awful! I have some of her books at home too. Thanks for featuring this one. Adding it to my ever growing TBR.: 🙂
Omg I need to pick this up! It’s on my bookshelf and it’s meant to be good 🙂 Thanks for the reminder 😀
Such a classic! You can’t go wrong with Heath, but this was truly a wonderful story. 🙂
