In honor, of what is currently happening on the coast of south Texas, and any that are suffering right now due to the storm, my heart and prayers go out to you. Please stay SAFE!! So below is the list of books I would HAVE to take with me. These are books that I own in print and would stuff these very very quickly in my bag. Or as many as I could. All of these books I have had on my shelves for years, and hold a special place for me. They are some of my favorites to read in print and I would have a difficult time leaving them behind if I had to. These are books I could read over and over without getting bored.
It Happened One Autumn and Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
Coyotes Mate by Lora Leigh
And Then He Kissed Her by Laura Lee Guhrke
Beauty Dates The Beast by Jessica Sims
Say You Love Me by Johanna Lindsey
Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt
Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
The Pirate Lord by Sabrina Jeffries
The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen Woodiwiss
What Books Would You Want To Save?
Have you Read Any Books On My List?
I loved Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. That is a great series!
oh I agree…especially the earlier books!! Those are the best.
I’ve only read two, the two by Lisa Kleypas. I remember them well. The others look like good ones, as well. I’ll see if they are available at the local library. I bet they are!
You definitely should check out the others. You would love them.
Still need to try LLeigh
You definitely should. I love her breeds series though.
All of them, sniff, all the pretties
They are some pretties right? I would hate for them to be destroyed.
I have read It Happened One Autumn, Devil in Winter, Then He Kissed Her, Scandalous Desires, Dark Lover and The Pirate Lord. I would want to take Scandalous Desires plus the two Lisa Kleypas books together with Again The Magic and Married by Morning; J. R. Ward’s Lover Awakened; Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels; Teresa Medeiros’ Yours Until Dawn.
I do love Yours Until Dawn but for some reason I don’t own that one in print. I think its on my kindle though. But I prefer printed books so one of these days I will have to pick it up in printed format.
Renee, I only have limited bookshelf space and so I have very few print books. Most of my favourite books I now have on Kindle.
I would probably not even try to save any of my books. Maybe my kindle? They are all replaceable for me and I would have my hands full with 3 dogs and a cat. My heart aches for everyone dealing with the hurricane. I do love the Kleypas books that you have on your list 🙂
I can see you having your hands full with the animals. I just have myself, I don’t have family here or any pets and so my most prized possession are my books. And there are some here that I would want to save if I can see I love these in print and some of them are hard to find in printed format. Its so heartbreaking what is happening on the coast. I am just grateful I decided not to move there last year or I would probably be homeless right now.
I would definitely be sad to lose some of my things. I have a lot of signed books that I plan to keep forever. I am so glad that you decided not to move there last year. So many people are going to be starting all over with nothing.
I loved the BDB series. I would grab my kindle to make sure I had the most books !
I would grab my kindle too. But there are a few printed books I have that I treasure. If I could save them, I would.
I am right there with you on The Wolf and the Dove,Say You Love Me and Dark Lover.
oh yay….someone who has read kathleen woodiwiss and johanna lindsey. The Wolf and the Dove and Say You Love me are just fantastic.
Great choices! I’d have the Lisa Kleypas, J.R. Ward and would add Molly Harper’s Nice Girls series, Mary Balogh’s Survivor’s Club series, anything by Jennifer Ashley–but especially The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, and anything by RaeAnne Thayne, Gena Showalter or Kresley Cole.
Thanks darling. Most of the books you listed I have on my kindle. But there are a few books I own in print I would want to try to save.
I have some serious reading to do! I have only read Dark Lover from your list!
Now, why haven’t I thought about having a disaster evac plan regarding my favorite books? Because, I would totally have to fill a bag though I would lose so many I’ve loved for years.
I’ve actually only read Dark Lover from your list, but my own would include Persuasion by Jane Austen, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, Miss Marple collection by Agatha Christie, Sackett collection by Louis L’Amour, The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer, and Midnight’s Daughter by Karen Chance for starters.
Definitely wishing those in Harvey’s path safe!
Great pile of books to take with you on a deserted island. I’ve read the Kleypas books, the J.R. Ward one, and the Johanna Lindsey book. OMG, I adored Say You Love Me when I read back in the day. I wonder if I’d love it as much now. Love those Malory’s!
Oh yeah, I have some books like that. And totally agree on the two Lisa Kleypas books. I would also grab What Happens in London and How to Marry a Marquis and Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn. And all my Julie Garwood. 🙂
I’m grateful that most of my books are on my Kindle, so I probably wouldn’t take anything with me other than that for the sake of space. But totally agree with you on the LK!
I agree with most of these. Thank god for Kindles—I would be sad to lose my books to a natural disaster but most of them I have on ebook. I would have to grab my illustrated versions of Harry Potter!
Oh yes. I would have to save similar. Maybe not those exact titles but ones in their series! Thankfully I’m at the top of my neighborhood and there are a set of steps to get in my house so I’m a bit elevated. And then most of my books are upstairs on the 2nd floor so hopefully *knock on wood* if there’s ever a disaster here with flooding most of my stuff would be safe.
I wouldn’t know what to save, honestly! The horrible that happened because of Harvey just got me thinking about this, too. But then again, I think my first priority will be my cats and basically now I’m thinking that I am so not prepared for a natural disaster!
Also, there is a horrible brush fire about 20 miles from me and although it is far, it is still too close for comfort! 🙁
I’d definitely be grabbing my Kindle on my way out the door and my iPad for back up. But if we are talking strictly physical I’d grab my full hardcover set of original cover Harry Potter series. There is something absolutely magical about that series. I’d also grab my Penguins classic edition of Pride and Prejudice and the copy of If You Only Knew by Kristen Higgins from her signing I attended. Great discussion!
