by | Sep 25, 2017 | Tea and Biscuits Discussions | 22 comments

There is something so riveting about a special moment in a story that just stays with you. So today I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes that I have discovered over the years and these quotes that I am sharing are ones that have stayed with me for a long while…some of them for quite a few years!! It brings you back to those special memories and sitting down and immersing yourself into your favorite read.  But also these quotes also inspire and lift the reader up, can make you cry, results in bursts of laughter and a whole rainbow of emotion and feeling.

I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together

—-Blue Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas

Life gives us choices. You either grab on with both hands and just go for it, or you sit on the sidelines.

—Night Game by Christine Feehan

Colin decided then and there that the female mind was a strange and incomprehensible organ – one which no man should even attempt to understand. There wasn’t a woman alive who could go from point A to B without stopping at C, D, X, and 12 along the way.

–Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

What is a friend if not someone you feel close to, someone you like being with, someone you can confide in and share pleasure with.

—A Loving Scoundrel by Johanna Lindsey

Is this heart the one that loves? Or do you love with your soul, which is infinite? I don’t know. All I know is that I feel this love in every molecule in my body, every breath I take, all the infinity in my soul. I learned that you can’t run if you tear a ligament, but your heart can be broken into a million pieces, and you can still love with your whole being.

—Real by Katy Evans

He held up his index finger. “Rule one: in any dispute between mates, the
male is always to blame, even when he is clearly blameless. Rule two”—his middle finger joined the
first—”whenever in doubt, refer to rule one.

–Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson

The situation was extraordinary. How someone like Evangeline Jenner could have wrought such a change in St. Vincent, the most worldly of men, was difficult to understand. However, Westcliff had learned that the mysteries of attraction could not always be explained through logic. Sometimes the fractures in two separate souls became the very hinges that held them together.

—Devil In Winter by Lisa Kleypas

She may not be a mighty warrior, but one thing she’d learned after observing her mother, was that if anything could fell a warrior, it was a determined woman

–Never Seduce A Scot by Maya Banks

Because sometimes in life, you just have to stand there and do nothing. Overwhelmed by all the versions of ourselves that exist in our minds—who we want to be, who we should be, who we’re not, and who we are—it’s a jungle that can ensnare your feet and confuse your eyes. But sometimes if you stand still, all those things will snap back into place like a rubber band. And if you can get past the sting, you can keep moving, not quite whole, but held together for the moment.

–All Lined Up by Cora Carmack

You love it. You’ve never met a man like me, a man who can challenge and respect you, a man worthy of a woman like you

Nico by Sarah Castille

Cariad, nothing about this is casual to me. But if you want a long, sensitive discussion about my feelings, I can’t help you. I’m from North Wales, where we express ourselves by throwing rocks at trees. I’ve had more feelings in the past half-hour that I have in my entire life, and I’m at my limit.”
“That still doesn’t -“
“I love whatever it is you’re made of. All of it.”

–Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas

The dress, the fancy dinner, all your flattering words, then the jewelry box.” I ticked the items off on my fingers. “Really, what was I supposed to think?” His snort cut me to the bone. “Anything but that. You and I have been together mere months. Do you know how insignificant that is to someone my age?” A fresh wave of hurt made my tone scalding. “Yes, you’re almost six hundred years old, but in today’s world, when you say things like ‘eternal bond’ before giving your girlfriend a ring-sized box, there’s usually only one kind of ring in it!”

–Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost

She swallowed and lifted trembling fingers to his hair, tears rolling down her face. “Why are you doing this?”

“You need to ask me that?” A growl of sound. “You haven’t figured out by now that I think you’re fucking amazing? You have a brain that won’t quit, a smile that lights up my soul, and a body I want to do dirty things to and with three ways to Sunday.”

–Rock Hard by Nalini Singh

Great choices! Lisa Kleypas and Katy Evans are two that I always have too many good quotes to use them all in a review, as well as Mary Balogh. 🙂 A funny quote I still chuckle over is: “Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?’
Jace said, “Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself.”
…”At least,” she said, “you don’t have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland.”
“Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting.”
    ―Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

And a serious one: ‘I’m standing in one of those moments where you realize beauty is made up of a thousand tiny pieces–some pain, some bittersweetness, some hope, some love–and the end product is that life is worth *living* it.’

I love book quotes, especially ones that make me laugh.

“Before we go, I gotta know: If mind-reading abilities are real, there’s something else I wondered if fiction got right about vampires-”
“Ask me if I sparkle and I’ll kill you where you stand,” Bones cut him off with utmost seriousness. ~ Bones – This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

So many fantastic quotes! I especially love that one from Marrying Winterborne. But my favorite quote from Romancing Mister Bridgerton (although I love the one you shared) is when Penelope is saying that she knew who she was, but she couldn’t express it well.

There is quite a bit of great moments in Marrying Winterborne….Rhys is such a swoony hero right? I do love Penelope and Colin together, they just fit in all those quirky and awkward ways that I love seeing.

Oh man, I love all of these quotes Renee! So stinkin’ much. From Julia Quinn to Lisa Kleypas to Cora Carmack to Nalini Singh, there is so much goodness in this post I don’t even know where to start. I can’t even remember my favorite quote. There are many but one of them is from Julie Garwood’s The Prize. It’s toward the end of the book in a conversation between the hero, Royce and his wife’s brother, Justin. It makes me cry every time I read this book.

    The quote is, “Thank you.”

Royce did smile then. “You insult me by giving me your gratitude,” he said. “As your baron, I was only doing my duty.”

Justin didn’t look at Royce but kept his gaze directed on the center of the field. “I wasn’t thanking my baron,” he said. “I was thanking my brother.”

Oh man. I’m a puddle of feelings all over the floor all the time. They came so far in the book and I just love them to pieces.

I just love quotes, so I always save my favorites in my bullet journal just to keep track of them and then Goodreads is also a great way to track them too 🙂

oh I remember that scene from the Prize…Garwood is brilliant right? I love the humor and great depth stories. She definitely knows how to balance out a good HR…many authors could learn from her in my opinion. I think the book of hers I cry in is The Ransom.

*Sigh* Doesn’t Lisa Kleypas just have the best quotes? The one you shared from Devil in Winter is one of my favorites: “Sometimes the fractures in two separate souls became the very hinges that held them together.” 🙂

“I want morning and noon and nightfall with you. I want your tears, your smiles, your kisses…. the smell of your hair, the taste of your skin, the touch of your breath on my face. I want to see you in the final hour of my life…..to lie in your arms as I take my last breath.” – Again The Magic by Lisa Kleypas

“I won’t apologize for my past. A man is supposed to have experience.”
“From all indications, you’ve acquired enough for ten men.” – The Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas

This was his dance. His wife. He felt like a man who had accidently stumbled upon a rainbow.
No, not a rainbow, he thought nonsensically. More like a beautiful butterfly emerging almost magically, from its chrysalis. In that moment, that was how he saw Annie. He didn’t analyse the feeling. He had unveiled something precious, immeasurably lovely, and completely unexpected. When God saw fit to bestow such a gift, a man with any sense didn’t ask questions. – Annie’s Song by Catherine Anderson

“Daisy”, Westcliff said gently, “most lives are not distinguished by great achievements. They are measured by an infinite number of small ones. Each time you do a kindness for someone or bring a smile to his face, it gives your life meaning. Never doubt your value, little friend. The world would be a dismal place without Daisy Bowman in it.” – Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas

He treasured her, treasured her tears, treasured her love for others. Her heart might even be big enough to fill that empty space in his own chest. Perhaps she could be his heart as well. – Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt

“Here’s what I think. You’ve been reading too many of those knights-and-ladies stories in the Gentleman’s Review. People have lived and loved and died everywhere. And for every crusading knight who won a tournament for his lady in this castle, I promise you— there were a hundred men who spent a solid decade scratching themselves and having pissing contests from the ramparts.” – Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare

…hell, if a man’s hot thoughts and stares counted for anything, her skirts should’ve bloody well been on fire by now. – The Proposition by Judith Ivory

“The color isn’t too awful?” She twisted a fold of the skirt. “The draper called it ‘dewy petal,’ but your mother said the shade was more of a ‘frosted berry.’ What do you say?”

“I’m a man, Simms. Unless we’re discussing nipples, I don’t see the value in these distinctions.” – Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare

“Jessica, you are a pain in the arse, do you know that? If I were not so immensely fond of you, I should throw you out the window.”

She wrapped her arms about his waist and laid her head against his chest. “Not merely ‘fond,’ but ‘immensely fond.’ Oh Dain, I do believe I shall swoon.”

“Not now,” he said crossly. “I haven’t time to pick you up.” – Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

“To me you are stardust sprinkled across a night sky, forever in my dreams, but out of my reach.” – Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros

“I was dead until you found me, though I breathed. I was sightless, though I could see. And then you came…and I was awakened.” – Lover Awakened by J. R. Ward
